The Museum Home of Vladimir Lenin in Ulyanovsk (with English Subtitles)
Guided video tour of the house of Vladimir Lenin in Russia.
Founded as Simbirsk on the banks of the river Sviyaga, a tributary of the Volga, in 1648 as the fort which meant to protect the eastern frontier of the Russian Empire from the nomadic tribes and to establish a permanent Imperial presence in the area, the city was renamed Ulyanovsk in 1924 in honor of Vladimir Ulyanov, better known as Lenin, who was born in Simbirsk in 1870.
Vladimir Ilyich Ulyanov, the Russian politician, Communist revolutionary and political theorist. Lenin was born into a wealthy well educated middle-class family. His father was the Director of Public Schools in Simbirsk district (which nowadays can be associated with a position of a Secretary of Education) overseeing the foundation of over 450 schools as a part of the government's plans for modernisation. Lenin's mother had relatively prosperous background and was the daughter of a German–Swedish woman and a Russian Jewish physician who served the royal family.
This video presents the first half of the official guide tour of the House where Vladimir Lenin spent his childhood from the age of 8 until his graduation from Simbirsk school gimnasia when he decided to study law at Kazan University at the age of 17. It will give you a fascinating insight on the life of one of the most famous figures of Russian history.
You will visit with us:
- the living room. Check out the interior of the house in Simbirsk from the 19th century
- the father's office. You will learn about Lenin's father and why he was an awesome man

Hello! So this is a vlog about days 2, 3 and 4 of my trip to Moscow last February. We ate Russian food, there's some ice skating, we went to the circus, and more! I had so much fun making this video, even though at times I felt like I was 4 years old playing tea time with my dolls.
I hope you love it! If you do, don't forget to give it a thumbs up and subscribe! And thank you SO SO much for watching.

Kolyma - Birthplace of Our Fear

Russia - Transsiberian Dream
And here is the last step of Kodamasia17: crossing all Russia, from East to West, from time zone to time zone, from culture to culture, in the legendary Transsiberian. This was a childhood dream for both of us and what we can say is that we were not disappointed AT ALL. Being in this train is something completely unique. You feel like travelling between time and space, in a parallel dimension. Waking up, reading, taking a nap, looking by the window, taking a second nap, eating, playing cards, watching a movie, sleeping, eating, taking a break outside… again and again. People tend to think that staying in the train for more than 30 hours is hard, but to me, it was the best part of our trip. You constantly meet people, think, learn about yourself, and learn about this great country that is Russia. So here is what we did during these 19 days.
After having visited Irkutsk and the Baikal Lake, we took the train for 41 hours to visit Omsk, a Siberian city, near the Kazakh border. This city is a typical Siberian city: people swimming in the river during summer, animations in the street during sunny days, and a big cathedral at the middle of it (The Assumption Cathedral).
Then, we took the train for 36 hours and went to Kazan: back in Europe after 7 months. Kazan is a city located in the autonomous Republic of Tatarstan, and the culture there is special. It’s a Muslim Republic, and we really felt that it was different from other places we visited: food, language, architecture. The Qolşärif Mosque is the most impressive one I’ve ever seen. We also visited the Soviet Times Life museum, it’s the only one in Russia. Authentic objects from Soviet Union were there and we could use them, try clothes… I recommend it for every person who would travel to Kazan and is interested about history. World Cup will take place there, good occasion to go! We’ve been lucky to be there during Tatarstan National Day, everyone was celebrating it and we assisted to a sick firework on the river.
Finally, the last step of our journey: going to Moscow. 13 hours of night train from Kazan. The best city I visited in the last 7 months. We had the best guides there to show us how you can enjoy Moscow’s life in the summer. The Kremlin, The Red Square, magnificent parks, markets, street art district, theatres, historic buildings and monuments… this city is just awesome. And CRAZY big. 25 times Paris. Moscow is amazing during the summer, you can feel that people are enjoying the warm days before winter comes. Directly knew I would come back one day, this city is just damn too cool. And we are so thankful to our guides team without who it wouldn’t have been so good.
Almost time to fly “home” as I decided on the last minute to go to St Petersburg. And what a wise choice. 4 hours of high speed train from Moscow to go there. It’s from far the most beautiful city I’ve ever visited. Like Venice, Amsterdam or Bruges, this city is constructed on the water. There are more monuments there than normal buildings. 3 days was totally enough to see the greatness of this city.
And it finally came. Time to go home, and to be honest, not happy about it. Kodamasia17 has been a crazy adventure and it couldn’t have been any better. Realized many of my dreams there and I’m so thankful to all the people who made it so perfect: THANK YOU.
To sum up, it started perfectly with Taiwan, the most welcoming country I visited. Mongolia was the craziest and most beautiful experience ever, and Russia was a perfect conclusion, in such and interesting country.
And I am also thankful to L’Esc@le, Sèvres, who allowed me this scholarship which helped me making all of this possible.
When travelling you learn a lot about people, the world, and yourself. And you also realize that you never really know what future is made of. Life is sometimes unexpected, and I’m in an appropriate position to say that as… I’m moving to Moscow for 6 months in 2018 !
And as Kodama’s will be there once again to help me find my way, I can say that Kodamasia18 is to be continued …

Leo Tolstoy some very rare footage of the great writer
Lev Nikolayevich Tolstoy (September 9, 1828 – November 20, 1910 was a Russian writer who primarily wrote novels and short stories. Later in life, he also wrote plays and essays. Tolstoy is equally known for his complicated and paradoxical persona and for his extreme moralistic and ascetic views, which he adopted after a moral crisis and spiritual awakening in the 1870s, after which he also became noted as a moral thinker and social reformer. His literal interpretation of the ethical teachings of Jesus, centering on the Sermon on the Mount, caused him in later life to become a fervent Christian anarchist and anarcho-pacifist. His ideas on nonviolent resistance, expressed in such works as The Kingdom of God Is Within You, were to have a profound impact on such pivotal twentieth-century figures as Mohandas Gandhi and Martin Luther King, Jr.
Tolstoy was born in Yasnaya Polyana, the family estate in the Tula region of Russia. The Tolstoys were a well-known family of old Russian nobility. He was the fourth of five children of Count Nikolai Ilyich Tolstoy, a veteran of the Patriotic War of 1812, and Countess Mariya Tolstaya (Volkonskaya). Tolstoy's parents died when he was young, so he and his siblings were brought up by relatives. In 1844, he began studying law and oriental languages at Kazan University. His teachers described him as both unable and unwilling to learn. Tolstoy left university in the middle of his studies, returned to Yasnaya Polyana and then spent much of his time in Moscow and Saint Petersburg. In 1851, after running up heavy gambling debts, he went with his older brother to the Caucasus and joined the army. It was about this time that he started writing.
YOUTH.....
Youth (1856) is the third novel in Leo Tolstoy's autobiographical trilogy, following Childhood and Boyhood. It was first published in the popular Russian literary magazine Sovremennik.

SUMMARY
=======
Leon Trotsky (; born Lev Davidovich Bronstein; 7 November [O.S. 26 October] 1879 – 21 August 1940) was a Russian revolutionary, Marxist theorist, and Soviet politician whose particular strain of Marxist thought is known as Trotskyism.
Initially supporting the Menshevik Internationalists faction within the Russian Social Democratic Labour Party, he joined the Bolsheviks (majority) just before the 1917 October Revolution, immediately becoming a leader within the Communist Party. He would go on to become one of the seven members of the first Politburo, founded in 1917 to manage the Bolshevik Revolution.During the early days of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) and the Soviet Union, he served first as People's Commissar for Foreign Affairs and later as the founder and commander of the Red Army, with the title of People's Commissar of Military and Naval Affairs. He became a major figure in the Bolshevik victory in the Russian Civil War (1918–1922).After leading a failed struggle of the Left Opposition against the policies and rise of Joseph Stalin in the 1920s and against the increasing role of bureaucracy in the Soviet Union, Trotsky was removed as Commissar for Military and Naval Affairs (January 1925), removed from the Politburo (October 1926), removed from the Central Committee (October 1927), expelled from the Communist Party (November 1927), exiled to Alma–Ata (January 1928), and exiled from the Soviet Union (February 1929). As the head of the Fourth International, Trotsky continued to oppose the Stalinist bureaucracy in the Soviet Union while in exile.
Trotsky was assassinated in Mexico City by Ramón Mercader, a Spanish-born NKVD agent. On 20 August 1940, Mercader attacked Trotsky with an ice axe and Trotsky died the next day in a hospital. Mercader acted upon instruction from Stalin and was nearly beaten to death by Trotsky's bodyguards, and spent the next 20 years in a Mexican prison for the murder. Stalin presented Mercader with an Order of Lenin in absentia.Trotsky's ideas formed the basis of Trotskyism, a major school of Marxist thought that opposes the theories of Stalinism. He was written out of the history books under Stalin, and was one of the few Soviet political figures who was not rehabilitated by the government under Nikita Khrushchev in the 1950s.

How philosophy can save your life | Jules Evans | TEDxBreda
When Jules Evans was in his late teens, he started to be plagued by panic attacks, mood swings and other emotional problems. He eventually found help in the form of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). He went to interview the inventors of CBT, and discovered they were directly inspired by ancient Greek philosophy. This started him on a five-year journey of discovery, in which he found out how life-transforming the ideas of ancient Greek philosophy can be. He met and interviewed people from many walks of life who claimed to have been greatly helped by ancient philosophy, including gangsters, astronauts, soldiers and politicians. Now, he passionately believes that the therapeutic ideas of ancient philosophy need to be rescued from the dusty museum cabinets of academia, and brought to as many people as possible, to help them improve their lives.
Regarding Jules Evans
Jules Evans is policy director at the Centre for the History of the Emotions at Queen Mary, University of London. He is also a journalist, has appeared on BBC 2′s Culture Show, on Radio 3 and 4, RTE-1, ABC Australia, and has written for The Times, Spectator, Wall Street Journal, Prospect and many other publications. His book, Philosophy for Life and Other Dangerous Situations, is being published in 19 countries, and was described as 'a revelation' by The Observer.

Especially for my friend, a review of his home, in which he grew up and spent his childhood. Unfortunately, he left him when hostilities began in Chechnya as a result of which he was destroyed.
Video review in 4K format at No. 6 on Pobedy Avenue, now it is Putin Avenue, the city of Grozny.
Happy viewing brother, be sure to write a comment, how and what has changed.
