The British Museum in London Walking Tour
A Walking tour around the British Museum in London focussing on all the major exhibits.
The British Museum is a museum in London dedicated to human history and culture. Its permanent collection, numbering some 8 million works, is among the largest and most comprehensive in existence and originates from all continents, illustrating and documenting the story of human culture from its beginnings to the present.
The British Museum was established in 1753, largely based on the collections of the physician and scientist Sir Hans Sloane. The museum first opened to the public on 15 January 1759 in Montagu House in Bloomsbury, on the site of the current museum building. Its expansion over the following two and a half centuries was largely a result of an expanding British colonial footprint and has resulted in the creation of several branch institutions, the first being the British Museum (Natural History) in South Kensington in 1881. Some objects in the collection, most notably the Elgin Marbles from the Parthenon, are the objects of controversy and of calls for restitution to their countries of origin.
Until 1997, when the British Library (previously centred on the Round Reading Room) moved to a new site, the British Museum housed both a national museum of antiquities and a national library in the same building. The museum is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport, and as with all other national museums in the United Kingdom it charges no admission fee, except for loan exhibitions. Since 2002 the director of the museum has been Neil MacGregor.

The historic buildings form part of the Maritime Greenwich World Heritage Site, and it also incorporates the Royal Observatory and 17th-century Queen's House. In 2012, Her Majesty the Queen formally approved Royal Museums Greenwich as the new overall title for the National Maritime Museum, Queen’s House, the Royal Observatory, Greenwich, and the Cutty Sark. The museum is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. Like other publicly funded national museums in the United Kingdom, the National Maritime Museum does not levy an admission charge, although most temporary exhibitions do incur admission charges.

I had spent a lot of time in this museum when I was studying in London. It is a massive depository of everything that the British Empire has ‘gathered’ over the years. In many ways, all museums celebrate the act of collecting, and the act of collecting is, and always will be, facilitated by wealth and power. I often have mixed feelings about historical museums. These sites in which neutrality is maintained. How historians speak of their positions as keepers but not judges. I will not entertain a single perspective that colonisation can be justified. It fuelled (and continues to) so many things that the human race should be ashamed of; slavery, exploitation, wars and most of all, the act of labelling the other as the other. Anyway. I don’t know why I didn’t take off my jacket when I was making this video. I was literally boiling. Sweat has been literally spilt to make this video, aligning with all the blood and tears over centuries as secretly spoken by all the artefacts in this museum.
See it on Google Maps!

National History Museum In London - London - Discover England - October 2017
If you love huge museum where you can come through different ages, visit this museum in London's National History Museum.
There is really much to see, everything from minerals, earthquakes, deaths and destruction to life like animals, faces and ancient times such as dinosaurs where you get an insight into their time.
When you visit this museum you should count 2-3 hours as mine. Depending on what you are interested in, you can quickly reach more hours than that.
The entrance is absolutely free but a courtesy and to keep this museum free for everyone to come in I would recommend donating a little shilling, everything helps.

British Museum Egyptian Naturally Preserved Body England Kingdom tomb
In recent months the naturally-preserved mummy known as Gebelein Man (on display in Room 64, the Early Egypt gallery at the British Museum) has been revealing some of his long-held secrets.
He was buried in about 3500 BC (if not earlier) at the site of Gebelein in Upper Egypt. Direct contact with the hot, dry sand naturally mummified his body, making him one of the best-preserved individuals from ancient Egypt. He has been in the British Museum collection for over 100 years and in 2012 he was taken out of the Museum for the first time to be CT scanned.
