Museum of Natural Curiosity at Thanksgiving Point
A fly through of Thanksgiving Point's newest venue, the Museum of Natural Curiosity, opening spring 2014.
The Museum of Natural Curiosity will integrate lessons from the nation's best museums in its five exhibit areas: Rainforest, Waterworks, Kidopolis, a traveling exhibits area, and the Children's Discovery Garden, will embody immersive, interactive education.
Ancient ruins encompass Rainforest. Sounds of insects, birds, and animals echo throughout and the activities will exercise children's minds, bodies, and senses. Guests will swing through the treetops, weave through a spider's web, hang as a sloth, and climb on an enormous monkey head feature while learning about ecosystems, cultures, trade, and healthy lifestyles.
Western landscapes are the focal point for Waterworks, where children learn about water, physics, and geology. Water splashes and flows throughout, and the area is themed as the western region of the United States, giving guests a sense of place. Interactive features include wind tunnels, pipe building, and dam creation.
Kidopolis is a whimsical, kid-sized area where children play grown-up and investigate art by performing in a theatre, create masterpieces in an art studio, and play instruments in a music shop. The colorful town teaches the keys to adulthood using artistic skills and imaginations.
During its first three years, a traveling exhibit space will be filled with exhibits from the world-renowned Exploratorium in San Fransisco. The existing five-acre Children's Discovery Garden offers a space to explore caves, investigate a side-view of the eco pond, and play in a science-themed playground based on principles in engineering, math, and technology.

Dinosaurs (Greek δεινόσαυρος, deinosauros) were the dominant vertebrate animals of terrestrial ecosystems for over 160 million years, from the late Triassic period (about 230 million years ago) until the end of the Cretaceous period (65 million years ago), when most of them became extinct in the CretaceousTertiary extinction event. The 10,000 living species of birds have been classified as dinosaurs.
The 1861 discovery of the primitive bird Archaeopteryx first suggested a close relationship between dinosaurs and birds. Aside from the presence of fossilized feather impressions, Archaeopteryx was very similar to the contemporary small predatory dinosaur Compsognathus. Research has since identified theropod dinosaurs as the most likely direct ancestors of birds; most paleontologists today regard birds as the only surviving dinosaurs, and some suggest that dinosaurs and birds should be grouped into one biological class. Aside from birds, crocodilians are the only other close relatives of dinosaurs to have survived until the present day. Like dinosaurs and birds, crocodilians are members of Archosauria, a group of reptiles that first appeared in the very late Permian and came to predominate in the mid-Triassic.
Through the first half of the 20th century, most of the scientific community believed dinosaurs to have been slow, unintelligent cold-blooded animals. Most research conducted since the 1970s, however, has supported the view that dinosaurs were active animals with elevated metabolisms and numerous adaptations for social interaction. The resulting transformation in the scientific understanding of dinosaurs has gradually filtered into popular consciousness.
Since the first dinosaur fossils were recognized in the early nineteenth century, mounted dinosaur skeletons have become major attractions at museums around the world. Dinosaurs have become a part of world culture and remain consistently popular. They have been featured in best-selling books and films (notably Jurassic Park), and new discoveries are regularly covered by the media.
The term dinosaur was coined in 1842 by Sir Richard Owen and derives from Greek δεινός (deinos) terrible, powerful, wondrous + σαῦρος (sauros) lizard. It is sometimes used informally to describe other prehistoric reptiles, such as the pelycosaur Dimetrodon, the winged pterosaurs, and the aquatic ichthyosaurs, plesiosaurs and mosasaurs, although none of these animals were dinosaurs.

Museum of Ancient Life - Review - Thanksgiving Point, Lehi, Utah
One place I'm glad that history DOESN'T come alive.
Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point, in Lehi (near Provo), Utah - February 2, 2013
At the North American Museum of Ancient Life, in Lehi (near Provo), Utah (AKA the Provo Dinosaur Museum), they have a lot of nice exhibits. But one key thing missing is any mention that humans evolved. No mention of any other homo species, such as neanderthals. What's up with that? So yes the place is nice & pretty, but they aren't telling the full story with the glaring omission of human evolution. Zero mention in the place - from what we saw.
February 2nd, 2013 visit.
More info on human evolution:
Perhaps one additional reason they don't want to delve into the topic is that DNA science proves the Book of Mormon is a lie.
More info on that issue - from Dr. Simon Southerton - a dna scientist and former Mormon bishop:
A talk by Dr. Southerton to at an Exmormon Foundation conference:

Touring the Sternberg Museum in Hays, Kansas on Sunday, July 24, 2010. Grandma and I took all the kids to see the Super Croc Exhibit. Sternberg Museum is a treat! Lots of dino bones, sounds and activities for younger children and the older kids can really get educated in the excavation, preserving and locations of fossils. Cool place, I recommend the trip.
