Museum of Folk Architecture in Olsztynek, Poland#folkmuseum#openairmuseum#Olsztynek#cottage#Poland
Visiting Museum of Folk Architecture in Olsztynek (Muzeum Budownictwa Ludowego - Park Etnograficzny w Olsztynku) was never on my visiting list, yet after stopped by here, due to hot weather in Poland, I had to say this museum was one of my most relaxed and cheerful site visit in Poland.
As you can see from the footage, this museum includes cottages from Powiśle , Warmia , Mazury , Sambia and Little Lithuania. From those buildings you can see how East European lived here in the past century.
All information board in museum were written in Polish and German, which made me difficult to read and understand, but it did not change how I liked this museum any less, me and my dog Duke had fun!

Skandynawowie w Techno Parku
Podczas kilkudniowej wizyty odwiedzili m.in. Olsztyn, Elbląg i Giżycko.
Ciekawe Mazury: Leśne Arboretum Warmii i Mazur [Kudypy] / Forest Arboretum of Warmia and Mazury
Szczególny udział w powstawaniu Arboretum w Kudypach miał Zygmunt Trociński i Jan Skabara. Korzystano z pomocy merytorycznej m.in. dendrologa Prof. dr hab. Jerzego Tumiłowicza i Prof. dr hab. Czesława Hołdyńskiego.
Arboretum w Kudypach podzielone zostało na działy:
a) dział flory polskiej - ok. 300 gatunków i odmian rodzimych drzew i krzewów, a także roślin zielnych (w tym rzadkich i zagrożonych wyginięciem),
b) część kolekcyjna - ponad 700 gatunków i odmian sprowadzonych m.in. z Korei, Japonii, Chin, Rosji, Kanady, USA i południowo-wschodniej Europy (tu m.in. klony, irgi, suchodrzewy, dzikie róże, jałowce, świerki, jodły),
c) las naturalny - fragment wiekowego lasu naturalnego z pomnikami przyrody.
Arboretum w Kudypach, obok funkcji rekreacyjnej i przyrodniczej, zajmuje się też prowadzeniem badań naukowych i edukacją przyrodniczą. W arboretum organizowane są liczne wykłady i realizowane są programy badawcze. W 2011 r. na terenie Arboretum założono Lapidarium geologiczne, czyli kolekcję kamieni i głazów narzutowych z terenu Warmii i Mazur. Na terenie Arboretum powstała również Izba Edukacyjna. W kąciku przyrodniczym przedstawiona została bogata flora i fauna okolicznych lasów, a także eksponaty historyczne, związane z pracą leśników i wystawa geologiczna.

Forest Arboretum of Warmia and Mazury in Kudypy / The Warmia and Mazury Forest Arboretum in Kudypy (North Poland):
The arboretum, located on the area of the Kudypy Forest District, in the outskirts of Olsztyn, is the botanical garden in the region of Warmia and Mazury.
The plants are grouped in three sections:
- The department of Polish flora (about 300 native species of trees and shrubs),
- The collectible arboretum (nearly 700 dendrological varieties),
- The natural forest, which is a fragment of the original wood.
Although beautifully presented at any time of the year, the garden makes the biggest impression in the spring.

MazuryCudNatury.org
The world-famous competition attempting to create a list of 7 natural wonders has been organized by the Swiss-based New7Wonders Foundation, which was established by the Swiss traveller Bernard Weber in 2001. Until the end of 2008 the Internet users all over the world voted for over 400 candidates representing 224 countries. Only 261 places from 222 countries were admitted to the next stage of the contest, among them the Great Masurian Lakes.
After the half a year-long campaign it turned out that the Masurian Lakes were a leader in their category (post-glacial landscapes and formations). Next, the region was put on the list of Top 77 nominees eligible for consideration by the Panel of Experts. Finally, on 21 July 2009 the 28 official Finalist Candidates were revealed, among them the Masurian Lakes.
Thus Masuria has been considered one of the 28 most beautiful places in the world and one of the 5 most beautiful places in Europe.

The lakes are a dream destination for sailors who feel at home on water, but also like to arrive at local ports in order to absorb the unusual atmposphere of the region. With its impressive lakes, picturesque, little towns, busy inns, interesting historic sites, beautiful primeval forests the Piska Forests and the Borecka Forest Masuria provides unforgettable adventure, unlimited space and freedom not only to water sports lovers, but also hikers and more and more cyclists. There is no other place where sunsets are so lovely and fish seasoned with sailors tales tastes so delicious.
