TTDC operates a Boating Centre in this ideal picnic destination with enticing green back ground and glittering blue sky and sea, with food court facility. Windsurfing regatta is organized every year in the month February.

Muttukadu Boat House / Travel area
Muttukadu boat house (Tamil: முட்டுக்காடு படகுக் குழாம்) is a water sport facility on the East Coast Road at Muttukadu, Chennai, India, offering rowing, wind surfing, water skiing, and speedboat riding. It is a backwater area of the Bay of Bengal located 36 km from the city centre and 23 km from Adyar on the way to Mamallapuram. The boat house was inaugurated in 1984 and has 15 row boats, 27 speedboats and 9 pedal boats, besides two high-speed aqua scooters. The water depth varies between 3 ft and 6 ft. It is owned and operated by the Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC). The boating spot receives more than 4,000 visitors every weekend.

Row boating for Rs 130 for 30 minutes
Speed boating for Rs. 450 for 10 minutes

Pulicat Lagoon:
It is the second largest brackish water lagoon in India. Pulicat Lagoon is considered to be the second largest brackish water body in India measuring 759* km2. The lagoon comprises the following regions, which adds up 759 km2 according to Andhra Pradesh Forest Department*: 1) Pulicat Lake (Tamil Nadu-TN & Andhra Pradesh-AP) 2) Marshy/Wetland Land Region (AP) 3) Venadu Reserve Forest (AP) 4) Pernadu Reserve Forest (AP) The lagoon was cut across in the middle the Sriharikota Link Road, which divided the water body into lake and marshy land.
The Buckingham Canal:
The Buckingham Canal is a 796 kilometres (494.6 mi) long fresh water navigation canal, that parallels the Coromandel Coast of South India from Kakinada City in the East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh to Villupuram District in Tamil Nadu. The canal connects most of the natural backwaters along the coast to Chennai (Madras) port.
Marina Beach is a natural urban beach in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, India, along the Bay of Bengal. The beach runs from near Fort St. George in the north to Foreshore Estate in the south, a distance of 6.0 km (3.7 mi), making it the longest natural urban beach in the country.
