Great Victoria Street in Belfast, Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland
Northern Ireland, is a separate country from The Republic of Ireland, Northern Ireland is a part of the UK, United Kingdom in the north-east of the island of Ireland. Since the signing of the Good Friday Agreement in 1998, Northern Ireland is largely self-governing.
Belfast is the capital of, and largest city in, Northern Ireland. Belfast has been the capital of Northern Ireland since its establishment in 1921 following the Government of Ireland Act 1920. It had been the scene of various episodes of sectarian conflict between its Catholic and Protestant populations. These opposing groups in this conflict are now often termed republican and loyalist respectively, although they are also referred to as 'nationalist' and 'unionist'.
Today, Belfast remains a centre for industry, as well as the arts, higher education and business, a legal centre, and is the economic engine of Northern Ireland.

Visiting Belfast & Dublin in 1958
American tourists cross from Scotland to (North-)Ireland and visit Killeen, Belfast and Dublin to finally ship their car by ss Ulster Pioneer to Liverpool (to be shown in sequel clip) Viewer Ian Robertson adds: The film starts in Belfast and the bulk of the film is then set in Dublin and I THINK that it finishes back in Belfast docks.

Thanks for finding my video and pressing play!
In this video I take one of Europe’s forgotten trains - the Enterprise. This is the service connecting the two Irish capitals, Dublin in the Republic with Belfast in Northern Ireland. The journey takes around 2 hours and 15 minutes on the fastest weekday services.
This is an international train, as Northern Ireland is part of the UK. The open and invisible border between the two means our journey is seamless and easy, with no passport or customs checks needed.
First Plus - now seemingly also branded Enterprise Plus - is very comfortable indeed and is well patronised. In fact, on this trip there were a number of senior MLAs (members of Northern Ireland’s devolved Parliament) on board, though they aren’t pictured! One of the reasons this train feels roomy and comfortable is the fact that Irish trains run on a broader gauge - rails are five feet apart as opposed to European gauge used in Britain of four feet eight and a half inches.
Autumn and winter aren’t the best for filming - lots of reflections and it being dark outside made for a fair amount of unusable footage....argh.
For those of you who like to keep track of this sort of thing, yep - I took this journey immediately after my Newquay to Dublin flight with Aer Lingus!
Enjoy the report.

Belfast 420 at Botanic Gardens ( Weed smoke out in Belfast )
We headed down to Botanic gardens in Belfast. To document 420 the stoners holiday. Where people smoked Marijuanna. Cannabis is still illegal in the United kingdom. The police made a few arrests on the day. But overall it was a peaceful protest for the legalisation of Cannabis.
NORTHERN IRELAND: TOURISTS RETURNING TO BELFAST
English/Nat
Three decades of sectarian violence in Belfast had traditionally served to keep the tourists away.
But now it seems the legacy of those very troubles may in fact be Northern Ireland's main attraction.
Tour guides are catering to tourist demands to see the sites that for so long dominated television news.
And some residents are even turning their homes into bed & breakfasts to cash in on the new tourist boom.
Shankhill Road - Belfast's Protestant area and domain of the Ulster Loyalist paramilitaries.
For nearly three decades, sectarian killings and violence deterred even the most adventurous tourist.
But since the ceasefire, the number of visitors venturing to Northern Ireland has increased.
Many seem to be keen to witness the scenes where much of the trouble that kept them away for so long took place.
Northern Ireland is renowned for its spectacular coastline, but some tourists are looking for something that only Belfast can offer.
George Grimley is one bus driver who operates tours to bring tourists to some of the city's infamous hot spots.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
Well, Belfast unfortunately, having the history that it has, you'll find a lot of the tourists want to go into the areas that they've seen on their televisions over the years. So our aim is to bring the tourists into that area and give an unbiased view of both sides.
SUPER CAPTION: George Grimley, bus driver and tour operator
The twice-weekly bus tours of the Catholic and Protestant areas have become a must-see and are even recommended in travel guide books.
The tourists seem to enjoy the drive through some of Belfast's notorious areas.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
To actually drive down there and see the way these people live, it's just crazy living behind barbed wire and bricks.
SUPER CAPTION: David Edwards, Australian tourist
VOXPOP: (English)
It's just chilling to think of all the people who have died here because of this conflict.
SUPER CAPTION: Jean Stewart, tourist from Denver, Colorado, U-S
Taxi drivers have also been cashing in, offering more individualised tours.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
You can tell it's a Protestant area. You'll see all the pavements are painted red, white and blue.
SUPER CAPTION: Michael Johnston, taxi driver and tour guide
The murals around Belfast are becoming something of an art form.
Even so, the tours are not for the faint hearted since the sites mark the scenes of atrocities still very real to local residents.
On the site of this wallpaper shop in the Shankhill Road stood a fish shop which was bombed by the I-R-A in 1993.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
That was one of the worst bomb attacks on the Shankhill Road, a lot of women and kids were killed. An I-R-A man left the bomb on the floor.
SUPER CAPTION: Michael Johnston, taxi driver and tour guide
The Catholic-Republican area is only a stone's throw from the Shankhill Road.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
These are the famous peace gates between the Falls and the Shankhill and they separate both sides from rioting and fighting.
SUPER CAPTION: Michael Johnston, taxi driver and tour guide
Milltown Cemetery gained notoriety when it was the scene of a deadly shooting in 1988.
Loyalist paramilitary Michael Stone attacked and killed three mourners attending the funerals of three I-R-A members shot by the British military in Gibraltar.
Within the cemetery are plots dedicated to fallen Republicans, including those killed in Gibraltar.
There is also a plaque commemorating the death of Bobby Sands and other inmates of the Maze Prison who died while on hunger strike protesting for political rights.

The Hidden Homeless Belfast And Lisburn
The documentary is based on abandoned buildings and for them to be opened up for the homeless, and getting the support of the community to help us help the homeless people of the streets for good.
Belfast And Lisburn Community Project
From April to September 2018, 9,673 households presented as homeless in Northern Ireland.
The figures come from the first Northern Ireland Homelessness Bulletin published by the Department for Communities (DfC), Northern Ireland Statistics and Research Agency (NISRA) and the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE).
The statistics do not include those sleeping rough. A study published last year by the Housing Executive revealed there were 16 people sleeping rough one night in November.

The Belfast Ulstars
United Kingdom
Song: Imagine Dragons - On top of the world
About us:
Can The Belfast Ulstars make it? We're not actually sure, our team is made up of three idiots; Alan Hamill, Andrew McCalmont and Scott Gault. Somehow, the three of us made it into Ulster University in Northern Ireland. We've been friends from a young age and been a bad influence on each other ever since.
Alan is number one idiot, always up for a good laugh, an extremely good skier and also the most immature man you'll ever meet. Andy is Mr. Serious, always carries a mirror in his back pocket and hates every single one of Alan's jokes. Scott is the adrenaline junkie, jumping from anywhere your mother wouldn't let you. He's also that guy who comes off with with horrific puns, hence The Belfast 'Ulstars' (Ulster). Together we make a team, not a great team, but a team none the less. A team filled with energy, creativity and adventure. All you have to do is watch our video to find out everything you need to know about us.

'This Week' reporter John Edwards is in the embattled city of Belfast where the British Army have over 7,500 men patrolling the streets. Under extreme provocation they have slowly persuaded the people of Belfast to dismantle their barricades. now a single incident could explode the whole situation. But the Army has moved with great delicacy an its dilemma. Can it defuse the situation? Can it take over so much of the civil power and eventually hand that power back intact?
