Things to do in Da Nang, Vietnam
1. Son Tra Mountain (aka Monkey Mountain)
Da Nang is home to Vietnams protected monkey the red-shanked douc. Stunning to see in the wild, drive slow on your way up to the top of Son Tra Mountain and on your way back... we didn't see any until the way down but now we know why it's called monkey mountain!
Incredible view point at the top of Son Tra Mountain makes the trip all the more worth it (even if you don't see any monkeys).
2. My Khe Beach, Da Nang Vietnam
One of the worlds best beaches, probably one of the longest too!
My Khe beach has it all. We enjoyed a nice walk along the front, smoothies in the sun and even had a little play in the sea too!
3. Lady Buddha
We were on our way to Son Tra Mountain and we couldn't help but notice a HUGE statue up on the hillside... we took a couple of turns and ended up at the Lady Buddha. Not just a statue, there's plenty to see here with stunning gardens and miniature statues all around. We spent a good hour or so at the Lady Buddha location, highly recommend visiting this place when in Da Nang, Vietnam!
4. Hire A Scooter And Go Explore Da Nang!
If you are staying in Da Nang, hire a scooter and head towards the My Khe Beach and Son Tra Mountain which is not too far from the beach.
It's a straight road from the beach to monkey mountain, with the lady buddha on route. Enjoy the drive!!
Next stop for us is Hoi An, only 45 minutes down the road from Da Nang which is a bonus... no 6 hour trains / buses required here!!

My Khe Beach (Da Nang) Vietnam
Considered to be Vietnam's most picturesque beach, the white sandy 20-mile stretch of My Khe Beach was named by the American troops who visited during the Vietnam War for R&R.
It offers excellent surfing from September just off the shores of Da Nang. There are also a number of high-end resorts within the vicinity should you be in need of pampering with most offering a rich choice of treatments at their spas and a range of dining options.
Sunbathing and surfing aside, there are a host of historical sites situated close by including the port of Hoi An which is only 10 minutes away by bus and offers wonderfully preserved merchant houses and small alleyways to explore.

My Khe Beach, Da Nang (Episode 3) [Vietnam]
My Khe Beach is located about 6km east of Da Nang and 24km north of Hoi An. It is a nine -kilometre stretch of smooth sand with an average width between 50m and 70m. The gradient is gentle, and its sheltered position in the lee of the Son Tra peninsula softens the autumn winds that restrict swimming further down the coast.

In 2013, Danang's My Khe Beach was voted one of the six most attractive beaches in the world by Forbes Magazine. Danang is more than just a beach town, though. UN Habitat Asia awarded Danang the title of Cityscape Asia 2013 honoring the various projects that have helped to make this city such a success.

Побережье Дананга представляет собой 20-километровую широкую песчаную набережную. Одним из самых известных пляжей является Ми Кхе. Здесь очень чисто. Удобно входить в море, так как у берега достаточно мелко, волны не высокие. Вернее достаточно далеко от берега есть большая волна и от неё идут много маленьких. Можно заниматься сёрфингом.
Этот пляж покорил моё сердце, он шикарен. Мы отдыхали здесь весь январь, погода была нестабильной. Когда шёл дождь, было достаточно прохладно.

The coast of Da Nang is a 20-kilometer wide sandy embankment. One of the most famous beaches is My Khe. It's very clean here. It is convenient to enter the sea, since it’s not deep, the waves are not high. To be more specific there is one big wave pretty far from the coast, the others little ones spread from it. You can surf there.
This beach has won my heart, it is gorgeous. We stayed there the whole January, the weather was unstable. When it rained, it was quite cold.
