MUST Eat HALAL Food In Bangkok | THAILAND | CHATUCHAK LARGEST Market in Asia | TRAVEL TIPS
Hello guys, Ali here! In this video I will show you the must eat foods and restaurants in Bangkok, Thailand. I managed to eat some great food at the famous Chatuchak weekend market at the end of the video so make sure you stick around for that.I loved making this video! It was fun finding so much halal food in Bangkok! thought it would be helpful to write my top travel tips for Bangkok. Ill also add information for the places I visited during this video.
Bangkok Travel Tips
Street Food
Bangkok is the street food capital of the world. You simply MUST eat as much of it as you can. It is delicious, hygienic and everywhere! There are so many FANTASTIC foods in Bangkok.
Beware of Pickpockets
Like most tourist destinations you need to make sure to keep your valuables close to you and under watchful eye.
Bartering/Haggling
You can always barter for goods in markets and even some shopping centres, but be polite and friendly.
Prepare For The Weather:
Prepare for HEAT!...and RAIN?? BKK gets super warm and humid! Make sure to pack for the heat you were likely expecting but also make sure to take things for the intermittent showers such as small umbrellas. Rain is more likely to occur closer to the evenings, so make the best of your hot afternoons
Getting Around Bangkok:
Bangkok is a crazy town but can be easy to navigate if you know what you are doing. You have options such as use the river taxi, long tail boat, subway and train! I suggest using the subway and trains but taxis are also cheap. Remember to make sure the taxi driver turns his metre on
Some Thai Words For Your Trip:
To say hello if you are Male you say Sawatdee Khrap (pronounced Sa-What-Dee Krap)
If you are Female you say Sawatdee Khun Kha (pronounced Sa-What-Dee Ka)
Thank You is Khawb Khun (pronounced Cop Coon)
Thank You is Khawb Khun (pronounced Cop Coon)
Download MAPS.ME Offline Maps
I would usually suggest downloading Google offline maps but offline mode does not work in Thailand. Download MAPS.ME instead and you'll have a functional GPS map even without mobile data

Mango Sticky Rice: You can find these all along the streets of BKK, restaurants and markets

Ethical Elephant interaction in Thailand - The main thing to look for is how the animals are treated/how happy they are. Most of the good places will only allow a single rider (if any) to ride bare back on the neck and will have weight restrictions. You want to avoid any place that straps riding platforms on the backs of their elephants. Almost everywhere you will see their caretakers riding them, don't let this frighten you. This is a tradition that goes back hundreds of years but if each elephant has one care taker (mahout) that they love and respect that is most important. They pretty much spend all day every day with them which allows the mahout to be able to gain trust and control with voice commands. Keep an eye out for this relationship, as a lot of places use circus-style bull hooks to harshly keep the elephants. Make sure to avoid any circus like shows where they make the animals perform, dance or paint with their trunks. To train an elephant to do those things is very unnatural. The elephants we took care of were not made to do anything they didn't want to. They had very clear physical signs that they were content and knowing that they're happy made us all have an amazing time!

Bangkok Thailand Chinese New Year Festival
One of the striking aspects of Bangkok to me is how few North American tourists visit the city relative to Europeans, Australians and Asians. I enjoy this. Not because I like tourists from these countries more than I like tourists from Americas. Rather it supports the false but quaint notion I have that I am discovering something when I travel. Which is completely untrue if you understand a simple fact... there are more international visitors in and out of Suvarnabhumi airport than any other airport in the world with the exception of London Heathrow. And Heathrow is an international hub for many airlines while BKK is a hub only for Thai Airlines (a fantastic airline BTW).
Families from these countries and regions fly to Thailand in droves. Yes families. Moms, dads and their children purposely vacation in Bangkok... Bangkok!!! Someone call a Child Protection Agency!!! Isn't the entire place basically Hangover Part Two without the popcorn? Reality isn't quite what you'd expect if you're an American and have consumed the American news and cultural narrative on Thailand.
I only passed through Suvarnabhumi to change planes for Phukett the first time I touched down in Thailand for a scuba diving trip. I remember my first impression of the country as I rode in the back of a sedan from the airport to my hotel. Mexico with better food I naively thought. In retrospect this was a complete injustice to Thailand and its people. I was correct on the food part though.
Mexico is a country where talent and ambition is siphoned off to the USA and in return pesos are sent back to sustain those less able. Thais, on the other hand, love their country and most would never dream of leaving it. They love that they are a kingdom and they truly love their king and not just because his picture is on each and every baht. They love Buddha, elephants, tigers, strawberry Fanta and the fact their country was never colonized by a Western power. Thailand is called LOS, Land of Smiles, and the entire country delivers on that advertising slogan. They are truly gracious people which doesn't mean they won't run a scam on you if they can... always count your change.
Bangkok is changing at warp speed. On this last visit I stayed in two large, modern Western style hotels that didn't exist a year earlier. One would think by looking at the Bangkok skyline the national bird of Thailand is the crane. The chaos that is Bangkok is quickly yielding to organization. Traffic is even improving which I once thought was impossible. Bangkok is becoming Singapore or Shanghai or Tokyo with a thriving economy in transition. A point in fact, while the Euro, Australian dollar, Mexican Peso and just about every other currency has been hammered by the US dollar, the Thai Baht has held its ground.
On this trip to Bangkok I was fortunate to be there during Chinese New Year. I visited two places on New Year's day, Chinatown and Lumpini park. Both were supposed to have celebrations. As it turned out I either was too early or ran out of patience in Chinatown as it was interesting but I saw no big celebration. Which brought me to the wondrous party taking place in Lumpini park.
Lumpini park is Bangkok's Central Park, Hyde Park, or name your favorite big city park. Water and grass and concrete converge here to form one of the few natural oasis in a city that has less green space per person than any other large city on earth. The park has several bodies of water that are home to a very healthy population of water monitors. Yes, the carnivorous kind and I saw some swimming that were about my size with much more formidable teeth. Water monitors enjoy the carp which share the water with them. These fish are big and if you watch my video you'll get an idea of just how big and plentiful they are as they voraciously attack bread thrown from one of the many bridges in the park. Clearly the water monitors won't soon run out of food.
The festival is an annual celebration of Thai culture with the park divided into the five cultural zones within the country... a bit like a country-wide Epcot with better food. In the video I try to capture some of the energy and flavor of this event. All sorts of odd-to-me but culturally significant to Thais food, drink, costumes artwork and handicrafts are on display. It's all really a fantastic event and would be even better if I had understood even 10% of what was happening around me.
I included some shots from Chinatown as well. Enjoy and Sawasdee ka. If you enjoyed this video please like and also subscribe to my YouTube channel for more adventure travel videos like this one. Thank you for watching

Luxury Thailand Travel - Travel Information Guide to all things Thai
Hello! Sawadee Kha! Welcome to this Luxury Thailand Travel website. Firstly let me introduce myself. My name is grahame and I am a real person who, though not living wholly in Thailand, would love to share with you my passion for all things Thai. I like to think of myself as more of an entrepreneurial gadabout simply because of my love of travel. For years now I've been fortunate to have journeyed to some great places.
But ever since setting out on my travels in southeast Asia, it's become my life-long dream to spend as much time in this wonderful part of the world as possible. Reason enough to publish my personal experiences and amazing adventures whilst exploring such an extraordinary country.
The legendary journeys on this website are created for all to enjoy and with that, I wish you all a very pleasant voyage of discovery and here's hoping each and every one of you reaches that wonderful dream.
Before I get started I would like to clarify the reasoning behind using the term luxury instead what may appear to be the exact opposite. It is in all essence, the very real luxury of travel where my main thoughts lie.
I do however offer advise on some of the most luxurious hotels and resorts in Thailand but it's my greater intention to direct you to a far more valuable lifetime experience. With this in mind, I would love you to come with me to discover this truly majestic tropical paradise together.
There's just so much to see and do in Thailand that after one vacation in this picture perfect piece of paradise, you'd want to keep coming back to experience even more. I certainly have and many others have too. And it's a well known fact that Thailand attracts more repeat tourists than any other travel destination in the world. No need to wonder why.
With luxury Thailand travel you'll undoubtedly, accomplish infinite exotic travel in a land full of beautiful smiling faces and many enchanting places.
