Atsuta Jingu - Nagoya - Aichi - 熱田神宮 - 4K Ultra HD
Believed to have been established during the reign of the Emperor Keiko (71-130), the Atsuta Jingu, also known as Atsuta-Sama or simply as Miya, has been officially designated as one of the Kanpei-Taisha (imperial shrines), like the Great Shrine of Ise.
Atsuta shrine is dedicated to the veneration of Atsuta-no-Ōkami. Also enshrined are the Five Great Gods of Atsuta, all of whom are connected with the legendary narratives of the sacred sword.

Atsuta Jingu Shrine, Nagoya ● 名古屋 熱田神宮
► Atsuta Jingu is a shinto shrine, located in Atsuta-ku, Nagoya. The huge shrine complex area covers 200,000 m², and draws over 9 million visitors annually. Sadly, there is no access to the inner grounds for the public. (but I was able to film some of the area over the fence!)
Atsuta Jingu is officially designated a Kanpei-taisha-shrine, meaning that it stands in the first rank of government supported shrines in japan. It's a really nice place, and as the architecture of this shrine is quite different from the style of most others, I recommend visiting Atsuta Jingu if you get the chance. - Enjoy!

Osu Kannon (大須観音, Ōsu Kannon) is a popular Buddhist temple in central Nagoya. Originally built during the Kamakura Period (1192-1333) in neighboring Gifu Prefecture, the temple was moved to its current site by Tokugawa Ieyasu in 1612 after the original temple had been repeatedly damaged by severe flooding. The current buildings are 20th century reconstructions.
Osu Shopping district - Nagoya - Aichi - 大須商店 - 4K Ultra HD
Located in the center of Nagoya, and nearby Osu Kannon temple, the Osu shopping district is a vast network of nice shopping arcades. These arcades spread across Osu Kannon street, Mioumon street, Osu Hon-dori, Mozen-cho street, Banshoji street, Higashi Nioumon street, Akamon street and Shintenchi Street.
First opened 400 years ago, the Osu shopping district is your typical Japanese shopping arcade, also known as shōtengai (商店街), where you can find pretty much everything you would ever need. There are many different kind of stores, restaurants and even small game arcades and pachinko parlors.
What makes the Osu shopping district so special is not only its 400 year old history, but also its 1,200 stores and its, prominent ‘otaku’ culture thanks to its annual “World Cosplay Summit”.

Osu Kannon - Nagoya - Aichi - 大須観音 - 4K Ultra HD
The Osu Kannon (Ōsu Kannon) temple is a popular temple of the Shingo sect (one of the major schools of Buddhism in Japan) located in Osu in central Nagoya. Originally built in 1333 in Osu-go, Nagoka Village in the Owari province, known today as the city of Hashima in Gifu prefecture, it was only in 1612 that the Osu Kannon temple was moved to its present location. This was due to the repeated heavy flooding that the city of Hashima suffered from in the past.
The temple is known for its wooden statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy carved by Kobo Daishi himself. He was the founder of Shingo Buddhism in Japan and is now resting in the Okunoin Temple in Wakayama. Osu Kannon is also the home of about 15,000 classic Japanese and Chinese texts, including several national treasures such as the oldest hand-written copy of the famous Koijiki, which describes the ancient mythological history of Japan starting from the 8th century.

What to do in Nagoya, Japan: Visiting beautiful Atsuta Shrine, Nagoya
Atsuta Shrine is a Shinto shrine traditionally believed to have been established during the reign of Emperor Keiko located in Atsuta-ku, Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture in Japan. #JENESYS2016 #JICE #Indonesia
Tucked away shrine in Nagoya City: Shinmeisha 神明社(花車)#Nagoya #shrines #Japan #travel
Shrines are all over the place in Japan.
The lovely thing about them, is that you can find them in the most unexpected places.
While casually walking about to find some lunch today, I noticed this beautiful shrine alongside residences and small businesses.
You may find it hard to believe, but only a block away, is a bustling city, highways, and more.
I've come across shrines in the city before but they're usually much smaller in size due to limited space in the city.
Anyway, this is just a quick walk-around that was totally unplanned that I shot on my GoPro.
I added the audio part later in the office.
In case someone watching wants to know how to get to the shrine, I tried creating some simple graphics at the start to show its location.

Wedding Processional at Atsuta Jingu (Atsuta Shrine) in Nagoya Japan
We stopped by Atsuta Jingu on our trip to Japan and were fortunate enough to see a wedding ceremony (at least we think that is what it was) take place. This appears to be the processional. More information on Atsuta Jingu can be found here:
I did not plan on posting a bunch of videos of our trip, but thought this one was interesting.
We will be climbing Mount Fuji and do plan on making a video of that and will post it in the Hiking section, so stay tuned!
Osu Kannon Temple and Shopping Market in Nagoya, Japan with Gimmeabreakman
I was visiting Nagoya and decided to drop in on Victor aka Gimmeabreakman aka Givemeaflakeman. He gave me a quick tour of Osu Kannon temple and its nearby shopping market during his break between classes.
Osu Kannon is quiet contemplative spot right in the middle of hectic downtown Nagoya.

Atsuta Shrine stands in a lovely, wooded park in southern Nagoya. During the Meiji Period, the shrine was remodeled after the Ise Shrines in the purely Japanese Shinmei-zukuri architecture style.
After viewing the shrine buildings, I highly recommend trying Kishiemen noodles which is one of Nagoya’s local special foods. A restaurant is found on the shrine grounds.

Nagoya City, Japan ● 名古屋
► See downtown Nagoya City - the capital of Aichi Prefecture.
Although it seems quite small and quiet compared to Tokyo, it still offers a wide range of great shopping opportunities and delicious local foods, such as Tebasaki (super crispy and generously seasoned chicken wings) and Misokatsu (soft and tender pork drowned in spicy & sweet miso barbecue). The JR Central Towers (featured in the beginning of the video) has become a landmark site of Nagoya, and together with the rest of Nagoya Station area, they form the world's largest train station complex. - Enjoy!

Osu Kannon JAPANESE Temple 大須観音 & Outside NAGOYA CASTLE 名古屋城
***Japan With Me - Episode 5 (Stream at 1080p for BETTER-QUALITY video)*** Welcome to my awesome vlog again! In this episode, I will take you to so many places - namely Osu Kannon Temple & Outside of the Nagoya Castle. Nagoya city is quite different from Osaka and Kyoto. They are a very well connected system of subways so you will only need the All-day subway pass to get to most of the famous locations. At the time I went (July 2018), it costed 740 yen for weekdays and only 600 yen for the weekends and holidays. First stop is the famous buddhist temple, Osu Kannon. I went there on a Thursday and there was a flea market right at the foot of the temple. It was fun to see all sorts of things being sold there. After praying and asking for blessing at the temple, my cousin took me to eat an Indian/Nepal meal at the shopping district nearby. It was so delicious! We couldn't even finish all the nun bread! After that, we all decided to go to Nagoya Castle straight away. Back then, my cousin got confused and took me on a detour route to the castle, we walked like 30 minutes all the way to the entrance! Hahaha ... let's just say we exercise well on that day. Unfortunately, the inside of the Castle was and still closed due to the construction of the main castle. They try to look after it well so we didn't get to see the inside. Just took some photos with the outside samurais and stayed there a bit to cool down. It was truly beautiful to look at. Summer is a bit harsh to go there. I would recommend Fall or Spring as the cherry blossoms festival occurs. So it will look way more beautiful. It also cost like 500 yen to get into the castle and its surrounding. Make sure to check the date they open the castle again before you go. Check out my next episode as I go shopping at Sakae, a famous shopping district of Nagoya, and I eat a delicious and cheap Japanese meal there! Thank you very much!
