Travel to Baalbek - LEBANON : AWSM S01E08
Sixth stop in a round the world trip. After a layover in Athens, flew to Beirut Lebanon and immediately went on a tour of the ancient Roman ruins of Baalbek in Lebanons Bekka Valley. Tour also included a stop in the Armenian town of Anjar to see it's Umayyad Ruins, traditional Lebanese food at a restaurant and wine tasting/cave tour at Chateau Ksara. Next video is remainder of my time in Beirut.

The city is situated on the Seyhan river, 35 km inland from the Mediterranean, in south-central Anatolia. It is the administrative seat of the Adana Province and has a population of 1.75 million, making it the 5th most populated city in Turkey. The Adana-Mersin polycentric metropolitan area, with a population of 3 million, stretches over 70 km east-west and 25 km north-south; encompassing the cities of Mersin, Tarsus and Adana.
Adana lies in the heart of Cilicia, a geo-cultural region locally known as Çukurova. Home to six million people, Cilicia is one of the largest population concentrations in Turkey, as well as the most agriculturally productive area, owing to its large stretch of flat, fertile land. The region includes the provinces of Mersin, Adana, Osmaniye and Hatay.

Lebanon: Thousands take to the streets of Beirut for May Day anti-reform rally

International Workers' Day demonstrations in the Lebanese capital Beirut on Wednesday saw thousands march in protest against the government's proposed budget.
Many of the demonstrators were members of the Lebanese communist party and can be seen waving Lebanese and communist flags as they march through the centre of the city.
Government officials have warned in recent months that the Lebanese economy may collapse if the state does not implement profound fiscal and public sector reforms.
One protester complained the Lebanese people are under pressure from the United States, the IMF and international donors, especially donors approved by the Cedar Conference. Because of this government's economic policy the Lebanese people are starving.
International Workers' Day, also known as May Day or 1 May, is marked by large demonstrations of workers and labour activists across the world, who organise marches to campaign for improved labour conditions, and other social issues.

STORYLINE:
Life returned to normal in the Iraqi capital of Baghdad early morning on Tuesday following the lifting of a two-day curfew over the capital, Baghdad and other areas in Iraq was lifted.
The curfew, which took effect from Saturday night in Baghdad and two restive provinces that neighbour it, largely succeeded in preventing major violence following Sunday's sentencing of Saddam Hussein to hang for crimes against humanity.
There had been initial fears a guilty verdict would unleash violence.
Vehicles were allowed back in the streets of the capital at 6:00am local time (0300GMT).
Pedestrians were free to travel in Baghdad on Monday evening.
Some Iraqis in the capital Baghdad linked the timing of the sentencing of the former Iraqi dictator and his co-defendants with the American elections.
''It is an American plan, said Fadhil Hussein, a Baghdad resident. They passed it (the verdict) as the American elections approached.''
Hassan Ali agreed.
The US came to implement its agenda in the region,'' he told AP Television.
Baghdad's international airport reopened on Tuesday following the lifting of a two-day curfew over the capital, an airport spokesperson said.

Oman/Mussanah to Muscat Part 40
Welcome to my travelchannel.
On my channel you can find more than 1000 films of almost 80 countries. See the playlist on my youtube channel.Enjoy!
Muscat, Masqat Oman: Population (May 2017): 1,560,330 (Suburb: 2.8 million)
Muscat (Arabic: مسقط, Masqaṭ ) is the capital and largest metropolitan city of Oman. It is also the seat of government and largest city in the Governorate of Muscat.
Muscat is located in northeast Oman, at 24°00′N 57°00′E. The Tropic of Cancer passes south of the area. It is bordered to its west by the plains of the Al Batinah Region and to its east by Ash Sharqiyah Region. The interior plains of the Ad Dakhiliyah Region border Muscat to the south, while the Gulf of Oman forms the northern and western periphery of the city. The water along to coast of Muscat runs deep, forming two natural harbours, in Muttrah and Muscat. The Western Al Hajar Mountains run through the northern coastline of the city.
Muscat is also considered as a Global City. According to the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI), the total population of Muscat Governorate reached 1.28 million as of September 2015. The metropolitan area spans approximately 3,500 km2 (1,400 sq mi) and includes six provinces called wilayats. Known since the early 1st century CE as an important trading port between the west and the east, Muscat was ruled by various indigenous tribes as well as foreign powers such as the Persians, the Portuguese Empire and the Ottoman Empire at various points in its history. A regional military power in the 18th century, Muscat's influence extended as far as East Africa and Zanzibar. As an important port-town in the Gulf of Oman, Muscat attracted foreign tradesmen and settlers such as the Persians and the Balochis. Since the ascension of Qaboos bin Said as Sultan of Oman in 1970, Muscat has experienced rapid infrastructural development that has led to the growth of a vibrant economy and a multi-ethnic society.
The rocky Western Al Hajar Mountains dominate the landscape of Muscat. The city lies on the Arabian Sea along the Gulf of Oman and is in the proximity of the strategic Straits of Hormuz. Low-lying white buildings typify most of Muscat's urban landscape, while the port-district of Muttrah, with its corniche and harbour, form the north-eastern periphery of the city. Muscat's economy is dominated by trade, petroleum and porting.
Muscat's economy, like that of Oman, is dominated by trade. The more traditional exports of the city included dates, mother of pearl, and fish. Many of the souks of Muttrah sell these items and traditional Omani artefacts. Petroleum Development Oman (PDO) has been central to Muscat's economy since at least 1962 and is the country's second largest employer, after the government. PDO's major shareholders include Royal Dutch/Shell,
