Find Your True Self in the City_도심속에서 나를 만나는 시간
Composure and relaxation seem remote compared to your bustling, busy life.
Where are you exactly going?
To a place you really need right now?
You can find yourself having a relaxed and peaceful time in the city.
Walking on Mountain Trails
This is the first course in a templestay. While walking on the mountain trails, you can think of your life and yourself as well. Listen to the explanation on the templestay programs and try to only focus on yourself.
Conversation with Buddhist Monks
You can meet other people who will participate in the templestay programs with you. Also, a Buddhist monk will tell you about the purpose of the templestay.
Hitting the Bell
The Buddhist bell is hit twice a day, before the morning prayer service and the evening prayer service.
108 Vows
There are six places where all the defilements come from -- our ears, eyes, mouth, nose, mind and body.
Three recognitions of likes, dislikes, and equality.
Avarice and generosity.
Past, present and future.
Expiate each defilement with one vow.
Prayer Service
Ceremonies of chanting prayers to Buddha are held twice a day.
The gesture of pressing your palms together and putting them in front of your chest stands for a singleness of mind, which means the whole universe can be united into one.
You can realize your true self by participating in this service.
Tea Ceremony
After the offering, you have a cup of tea and appreciate the time.
This procedure might seem complicated, but you can practice meditation in this ceremony.
Q. Templestay programs are becoming more popular these days. What do you think is the strength of the templestay programs as a leisure activity?
Yeoyeo (Myogaksa Temple in Naksan): Many people are unable to decently rest during their leisure time, but instead consume so much energy while enjoying many kinds of facilities. However, during a templestay, you can be relaxed and find your true self through meditating. It will be very helpful to recharge yourself.

Naksansa Temple (낙산사) is located 4km north of Naksan Beach, and boasts a 1,300-year history. It is a temple built by Ui-Sang, the ambassador of the 30th King of Silla Period (57 BC~AD 935), and inside there is the Seven Floor Stone Tower, Dongjong, Hongyaemun, together with several other cultural assets. It was named Naksansa Temple by Ui-Sang, at the spot where he learned the prayer Gwansae-eumbosal from Bosal, after he returned from studying abroad in the Chinese Dang Kingdom. It was rebuilt several times afterwards, and the current building was raised in 1953.
