Train Derailment Repair
The Great Smoky Mountains Railroad says it will take a few days to repair the tracks following a passenger train derailment. Wednesday morning four cars derailed between Bryson City and the Nantahala Outdoor Center. None of the 190 passengers onboard were injured. The railroad says some weak spots in railroad ties caused the train to derail, but none of the cars tipped over. Repairs are expected to continue through the weekend with westbound service to the NOC resuming on Monday. Eastbound trips from Bryson City to Dillsboro remain uninterrupted. The railroad says the last derailment happened three years ago. Rex Hodge

Sunday departure from T-Dot. Met up with Al and Lynn at the regular spot 38B Timmy'sDrove to the border on fumes.....gas up with $20.00 which is nothing in my truck. I think it was just a shooter for that vehicle. 40 minute wait to cross over. Free at last, Free at last!!!!
Drove to Bridgeport/Clarksburg WV for an overnight stay Monday Bridgeport/ Clarksburg WVHad to make a Wally World stop while in Bridgeport that's when we seen the Redneck Air Conditioned truck. We had to make that a photo op. Arrived at Fryemont Inn at 6:30pm with great excitement Fryemont Inn has a wondering cat, Pumpkin very friendly kitty lounging on vehicle hoods, roofs. Too cute.Fryemont now is equipped with wifi. Code is the cats name easy enough.... Fred spelled it out with difficulties getting access to the internet. The staff corrected him PUNKIN, spelled how they say it.Unloaded the bikes and went to the Cabin, our driveway was actually a narrow ski slope with a curve. Just to make it a little more challenging for the motorcyclist.Cabin was musty but clean, it's a place to rest our heads for 2 nights. Thank god for Glade Candles!!!!!
Western North Carolina Fly Fishing Trail
Alex Bell makes catching trout look easy. He's been fishing these waters in Jackson County for many years. He was one of a handful of people who put together a formal map of the waterways in Jackson County where the trout can be found. 15 spots along the fly fishing trail earmark the Tuckasegee River and smaller streams and creeks. The map includes places to park, and to stay. The delayed harvest section of the Tuckasegee River is stocked with rainbow, brown, and brook. Water is a wonderful outdoor recreation source Learn more about the Western North Carolina Fly Fishing Trail:

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
North Carolina ( (listen)) is a state in the southeastern region of the United States. It borders South Carolina and Georgia to the south, Tennessee to the west, Virginia to the north, and the Atlantic Ocean to the east. North Carolina is the 28th most extensive and the 9th most populous of the U.S. states. The state is divided into 100 counties. The capital is Raleigh, which along with Durham and Chapel Hill is home to the largest research park in the United States (Research Triangle Park). The most populous municipality is Charlotte, which is the second largest banking center in the United States after New York City. The state has a wide range of elevations, from sea level on the coast to 6,684 feet (2,037 m) at Mount Mitchell, the highest point in North America east of the Mississippi River. The climate of the coastal plains is strongly influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. Most of the state falls in the humid subtropical climate zone. More than 300 miles (500 km) from the coast, the western, mountainous part of the state has a subtropical highland climate.
In 2018, North Carolina was ranked number one on Forbes' Best States for Business ranking for a second year in a row.

Life skills coaching session for athletes.Life lessons from a river. Athlete story Joe Jacobi part 1
You are in for a free world class life skills coaching session in this episode of Athlete Story! As a retired athlete turned executive business coach, Olympic Gold medalist Joe Jacobi uses his sport of the whitewater canoe slalom and the river as metaphors for the currents in life and business to clarify his message.
Images and dynamics that help guide himself and his coaching clients.
This interview is so packed with world class sports wisdom and transferable life skills that I decided to split this interview into 2 parts that can be watched independently.
In part 1 (this part) you will hear about Joe Jacobi's journey to winning the 1992 Olympics together with his canoe partner, Scott Strausbaugh .
You will also get insight into the fascinating sport of whitewater canoeing and how you can draw your own parallels from navigating in this environment of constant change to life or business.
You will for example learn how understanding the concept of glide (i.e. working with the forces and energy around you) can help you save you energy for when you really need it.
You know that this is right up my alley! :-)
- If not just watch my TEDx-talk: Achieve More with Less here:
I love how he refers to that as « dancing in stead of fighting » - And the whitewater river illustrates that idea perfectly. In whitewater you are up against forces that a way stronger than any set of muscles can ever become – but understanding the forces of the river and working with them allows these athletes to position themselves to actually utilize these forces.
A few keywords on what we talked about:
- Insight into the fascinating sport of whitewater canoe slalom with some cool action footage
- How you can draw your own parallels from navigating in this environment of constant change to life or business.
- Courage and confidence – the emotional and spiritual sides of performance
- Body language in teamwork
- The concept of glide – and how it can help you save enrgy for when you really need it
- Course correction
- Joe Jacobi's journey to winning the 1992 Olympics together with his canoe partner, Scott Strausbaugh.
- The gift of competition
In part 2 you will hear more about some of his more current experiences and adventures as a retired world class athlete turned executive business coach. We talk about running a marathon compared to whitewater canoe slalom. We get around the physical and mental aspects of performance, training mode vs performance time - and Joe's camps and retreats.
Curious about Joe Jacobi's lifestyle and executive coaching and camps?
