The Perfect Napa Getaway | tiffihearts
{Open me to learn more about my tips for a Napa getaway!}
Hi friends! I went on a day trip to Napa with 18 other girlfriends (yes, there was a lot of us!) and had the best time out there! The weather was perfect, the birds were chirping, and the wine was absolutely spectacular.
The wineries we went to:
- V. Sattui Winery -- best if you prefer a more laid-back wine tasting experience. They have picnic tables and a marketplace section, filled with an abundance of various cheeses, olive oils, crackers, and everything you need for a picnic. They have the option of a more casual wine tasting, where you and your party will be standing, and an indoor sit-down tasting that comes at a slightly higher price point. They have BBQs on the weekends which is a plus.
- Castello di Amorosa -- best if you prefer the glitz + glam of Napa Valley. You have to enter through a gated entrance, similar to that of a castle-like feel. You get a chance to do some delicious wine tastings (the dessert wine La Fantasia is known to be very popular, and incredibly tasty!) I'd recommend going wine tasting first, then take the opportunity to snap a few photos after as the place is absolutely stunning.
Other places I highly recommend:
- Bouchon Bakery and Bistro -- they have giant macarons and amazing croissants at the bakery! They also have a delicious and impressive restaurant
- The French Laundry, of course
- Ad Hoc for brunch -- they make an amazing fried chicken brunch and it's served family style
I hope you enjoy, and let me know what you want to see in my next video! xo Tiff

Always in Season - Organic Olive Oil with deep roots in the Central Valley
The Ricchiuti family knows a thing or two about growing a family business, and growing olives. You can say it’s in their blood, as their family has been farming in California for almost 100 years.
Certain areas in California benefit from a Mediterranean climate, making it the perfect region to grow more than 75 varieties of olives that provide a range of oils and trademark blends unique to California. Much like the state’s wineries, many olive oil producers welcome visitors for tastings and tours of their ranches.

Information from:
G. L. Mezzetta, Inc., commonly known as Mezzetta is a California food processor that packs olives, pickled peppers and other pickled vegetables in glass jars for retail sale. They also pack and sell wine-based pasta sauces under the Napa Valley Bistro brand name.
The privately held company is headquartered at 105 Mezzetta Ct., American Canyon, California. It occupies a 200,000-square-foot (19,000 m2) plant built in the 1990s in the Green Island Industrial Park at the northern edge of American Canyon. The company says it selected that location because of the favorable business climate in American Canyon. In 2011, after over a year of negotiation to expand operations with the city, the company indicated that it may move future growth to another state.
A gift basket of various Mezzetta products
The company was founded in San Francisco by Italian immigrant Giuseppe Luigi Mezzetta and his son Daniel in 1935. Originally, the company distributed imported specialty food items to delicatessens and restaurants in San Francisco. Ron Mezzetta, Daniel's son, began managing the company in 1973. Mezzetta began packaging and distributing its food products for retail sale in 1980. In 1993, Mezzetta purchased Kona Coast Hawaiian Sauces and Marinades. In 1995, the company moved into a new factory in American Canyon, CA. The company is now operated by fourth-generation family member Jeff Mezzetta, who serves as president.
At one time, Mezzetta owned the Tulelake Horseradish brand, but sold that business to Beaverton Foods of Oregon.

The company sponsors an annual Make That Sandwich recipe contest, awarding a $25,000 first prize.

Tourists Trickle Back to California Wine Country
(14 Nov 2017) TOURISTS BOARD THE NAPA VALLEY WINE TRAIN, HEADING TO SEE THE VINEYARDS AND TASTING ROOMS OF CALIFORNIA WINE COUNTRY.
SOUNDBITE (English) Jim Kilpatrick, tourist from Texas
The train is running. The wine is flowing. And we're on our way.
THE TOURISTS ARE A WELCOME SIGHT FOR A REGION STILL RECOVERING FROM DEVASTATING WILDFIRES THAT SHUT DOWN WINERIES, HOTELS AND RESTAURANTS DURING THEIR BUSIEST MONTH.
SOUNDBITE (English) Tanya Thomas, wine country tourist
In spite of the local disasters that have occurred in the area, I've decided to come support Napa.
THE WILDFIRE OUTBREAK IN EARLY OCTOBER KILLED MORE THAN 40 PEOPLE AND DESTROYED NEARLY 9,000 HOMES AND OTHER BUILDINGS IN NAPA AND SONOMA COUNTIES.
DESPITE WIDESPREAD DEVASTATION, ONLY A SMALL NUMBER OF THE REGION'S 1,200 WINERIES WERE BADLY DAMAGED.
AND THERE WAS LITTLE IMPACT TO WINE PRODUCTION SINCE 90 PERCENT OF THE GRAPES WERE PICKED BEFORE THE FIRES BROKE OUT.
SOUNDBITE (English) Michael Honig, chairman of Napa Valley Vintners
No wineries really lost much wine from this vintage. It was really more of the impact the fires had on people's psyches. They thought the Napa Valley was burning and they canceled their trips. That's really been the most impact for us.
AN IMPACT FELT THROUGHOUT WINE COUNTY. FEWER TOURISTS ARE VISITING THE REGION'S WINERIES, INCLUDING MICHAEL HONIG'S.
HOTELS HAVE SEEN A STEEP DECLINE IN GUESTS. MANY ROOMS ARE NOW FILLED WITH FIRE EVACUEES AND EMERGENCY RESPONDERS WHO PAY DISCOUNTED RATES.
SOUNDBITE (English) Bill Blum, manager, MacArthur Place Hotel & Spa
Spend money at our local restaurants and shops. Buy Sonoma wine. Stay at our hotels. That's really one of the best ways you can really help.
FRANK FIGONE SAYS HIS OLIVE OIL BUSINESS WAS SHUT DOWN FOR NINE DAYS. MANY OF HIS CLIENTS' OLIVE ORCHARDS WERE DESTROYED. AND HIS RETAIL SHOP IS SEEING A LOT LESS FOOT TRAFFIC.
SOUNDBITE (English) Frank Figone, owner of Figone's Olive Oil Co.
We always save for the rainy day. But in this case we're not really saving for firestorms. And it's had a tremendous financial impact on us.
HIGHER-END RESTAURANTS SUCH SONOMA'S CAFE LA HAYE ARE ALSO FEELING SQUEEZED BY THE LOSS OF OUT-OF-TOWN VISITORS.
SOUNDBITE (English) Saul Gropman, owner of Cafe La Haye
Those people that lost their homes still need their incomes, so tourism is a way to help those fire victims. And nobody should be afraid to visit and see the beauty that surrounds us here.'
IT'S A MESSAGE THAT WINE COUNTRY IS SPREADING AS THEY TRY TO REBOUND WITH A STRONG HOLIDAY SEASON.

Auction Napa Valley 2007 - Taste Napa Valley
We are back with more video coverage of the 2007 Auction Napa Valley, and Fridays Taste Napa Valley festival is a real show-stopper. Combining a smorgasbord of edible options, and nearly as many wine options all served in a park-like setting - well, its just about all you could want out of life. Join us as we talk with winemaker John Kongsgaard, uber-Chef Thomas Keller (French Laundry) as he serves his gazpacho snow cones, and watch as Tra Vigne chef Nash Cognetti whips up his asparagus and ricotta ravioli.
We are also joined by Karen MacNeil (WineTasteTV), and a host of winery luminaries and attendees to talk about this fabulous feast for the eyes, ears, nose and mouth. Plus, well hear about why this is the only place pouring tastes of the Araujo Sauvignon Blanc, and we look in on the e-auction and barrel tasting, and check out the new Lexus LS460h - with its optional trunk-full of wine.
