This video features the first descent of the Hanalei River in Kauai. EnviroAction Productions was filming for one of its pioneering paddling video productions - Paddlemania Worldwide. Kayakers on this epic adventure are Dave Pizzuti, Jeremy Signorini, Charlie MacArthur and Paul Tefft. Rivers in Kauai can go from 50cfs to 5,000 cfs in a matter of hours so paddlers must be ready for everything from a trickle to a torrent. Farmer's Market in Hanalei, Kauai, HI - KVIC-TV, myKauai.com [Event]
Nanea Marston explores Hanalei's Saturday morning farmer's market; meets the shoppers, samples the produce and kava.
Try the seedless tangerines. Um hm. Don't bite, insert the entire thing into your mouth, chew and swallow. Tip number one, we're learning here.
Tell me about your lovely produce. Everything was harvested this morning as far as the greens go.
This is our traditional kava bowl, this is our kava brew right here, and this is a beverage we've been drinking for centuries throughout the pacific islands. How do you use this? Add water? We get the roots sun-dried, we put them in a pounder or blender and turn them into a powder. Can I taste some? Sure Nanea. This is it right here. You gotta drink it all at one time. Really? That's a lot. It's all good. It gets better.

Hanalei Beach - Hanalei Bay, Hanalei, HI - (March 2019)
Sometimes things don't always work out the way you think. The original plan for this day was to try to get the Northwest side of Kauai and see Tunnel Beach. We found out about halfway into the drive that the road to Wainiha was closed.
Since we were already in Hanalei, we decided to have some lunch and then lounge on the beach for a bit. The weather was less the cooperative today with little rain and wind mixed with the warm tropical sun for most of the day.

Na Pali Catamaran Tour - Na Pali Coast - Kauai - HD
Catamaran tour along the visually stunning, remote, and rugged Na Pali Coast on Kauai. The tours begins with a short boat ride from the shore out to the 34 foot powered catamaran boat named the Kamahele Kai, anchored in Hanalei Bay. Once aboard, the tour heads down the Na Pali Coast.
Tour highlights includes an ocean view of many beautiful beaches, caves, waterfalls, sheer cliffs, a dormant volcano, spinner dolphins, and culminates in a nice snorkeling spot, with many fish, and the occasional turtle. The tour also takes a detour into a cave, and passes closely to a waterfall flowing through the ceiling of another cave. The tour passes the famous Kalalau Valley and beach made famous by many Hollywood movies. Great tour guides, and amazing scenery.
Some are confused at referring to this boat as a catamaran, as it does not appear like the standard sailing catamaran. It has a catamaran type of hull, but it is a powered boat. The lack of a sail allows it to be small enough to duck into some of the caves.
We hope you enjoy the video. Let s know if there are any questions or comments.

Kauai is absolutely gorgeous, this video honestly does the island no justice, you gotta see it in person, but I figured this short video did a good job of capturing a few of our favorite moments. Believe it or not, most of the footage in this video was from our Sony action cam (HIGHLY recommend that camera)! Please let me know if you guys would like to see more travel diaries, because Zack and I plan on traveling a lot!

NaPali / Nā Pali Coast Kauai Hawaii 2011
Nā Pali Coast State Park encompasses 6,175 acres (2,499 ha) of land and is located in the center of the rugged 16 miles (26 km) along the northwest side of Kauaʻi, the oldest inhabited Hawaiian island. The Nā Pali coast itself extends southwest starting at Keʻe Beach extending all the way to Polihale State Park. The pali (cliffs) rise as high as 4,000 feet (1,200 m) above the Pacific Ocean. The state park was formed to protect the Kalalau Valley.
Although inaccessible to automobiles, this coast can be enjoyed by hiking, boating (in kayaks from May 15 through Labor Day) or from a helicopter. The Kalalau Trail from the end of Hawaii Route 56 (called the Kuhio Highway) provides the only land access, traversing 11 miles (18 km) and crossing five major valleys (and many smaller ones) before reaching Kalalau Beach at the base of Kalalau Valley. To the east of the state park is the Hono O Nā Pali state Natural Reserve. It was established in 1983, and then extended to over 3,578 acres (14.5 km2) on March 23,2009.
Literally translated as the cliffs, Na Pali offers some of the most dramatic scenery in all of Hawaii. Boating and hiking are the ways to explore the 15-mile long Na Pali Coast State Park.
The Kalalau Valley is located on the northwest side of the island of Kauaʻi in the state of Hawaiʻi. The valley is located in the Nā Pali Coast State Park and houses the beautiful Kalalau Beach. The Nā Pali Coast is very rugged and is inaccessible to automobiles. The only legal ways to access the valley are by kayak or by hiking the Kalalau Trail.
The valley is renowned for its natural beauty; it is surrounded by lush cliffs more than 2,000 feet (610 m) high. The valley bottom is broad and relatively flat, with an accessible region about 2 miles (3.2 km) long and 0.5 miles (0.80 km) wide. The abundant sun and rain provides an ideal environment for flora and fauna. Many native Hawaiians lived in the valley into the 20th century, farming taro from a vast complex of terraced fields. Today, its designation as a state park forbids anyone from residing there.
Kōkeʻe State Park is located in northwestern Kauaʻi in the Hawaiian Islands. It includes a museum at the 15 mi (24 km) marker on State Road 550, which focuses on the weather, vegetation, and bird life; a lodge which serves food and sells gifts; cabins for rent; and hiking trails. The park is just north of Waimea Canyon State Park at 22°7′49″N 159°39′32″WCoordinates: 22°7′49″N 159°39′32″W and includes 4,345 acres (17.58 km2) of mountainous terrain.
The main attractions of Kōkeʻe State Park trails are the native vegetation, native forest birds, and the scenic cliffside views. Situated on a plateau between 3,200 and 4,200 ft (980 and 1,300 m), much of Kōkeʻe is a montane (infrequent frost) mesic forest (50 to 100 in/1,300 to 2,500 mm annual rainfall with moist soil conditions) dominated by koa (Acacia koa) and ʻōhiʻa lehua (Metrosideros polymorpha) trees. The park receives around 70 inches (1,800 mm) of rain per year, mostly from October to May.
