Nara: sacred images from early Japan
Nara, in the Yamato region of Japan, was the country’s capital from
AD 710–784 – and the cradle of traditional Japanese culture.
This special display runs in two rooms: the Asahi Shimbun Displays (Room 3) has treasures from Hōryūji, one of Japan’s oldest Buddhist temples, dating between the AD 600s and 700s. The Mitsubishi Corporation Japanese Galleries (Room 93) feature sacred sculptures and paintings from the great temples and shrines of Nara, from the AD 700s to the 1400s.
The Buddhist religion was introduced to Japan from China and Korea in the AD 500s, along with writing and new forms of government, transforming indigenous culture. For most of Japanese history, Buddhism has flourished alongside Shinto, native beliefs in kami (deities of nature and ancestors). In Nara, Shinto kami came to be regarded as emanations and protectors of Buddhist deities.

Japan Travel: Nara National Museum Buddhist arts historic building, Nara31
The Nara National Museum is located within Nara Park, and is an art museum primarily displaying Japanese Buddhist art. The museum was founded over 100 years ago, which retains its original building. A new wing was later added, and is connected to the original building by an underground passage.
Both wings display the museum's permanent collection, focusing on Buddist arts including Buddhist statues, paintings, scrolls and ceremonial objects mainly collected from Japan. The new wing also features temporary exhibitions, including exhibitions of treasures from the Todaiji Temple annualy held in autumn. A ticket to the museum applies both wings, and English explanations are available throughout the museum.

Exploring NARA ????????
Did you know that? Japan's first permanent capital was established in the year 710 at Heijo, the city now known as NARA. But because of its influence and political ambitions of the city's powerful Buddhist monasteries grew to become a serious threat to the government, the capital was moved away from Nara to Nagaoka in 784 and a few years later to Kyoto.
Nara is famous for its deer attraction but people don’t know there’s a lot to explore in the city since it was the first permanent capital in the country, the city remains full of historic treasures, including some of Japan's oldest and largest temples. In fact, eight shrines and temples found within the city are registered as World Heritage Sites and are known as the “Historic Monuments of Ancient Nara”.
Aside from deer experience we went to Murou Art Forest, a delightful open-air museum and collection of art installations located in the heart of Muro village. Varied art pieces within the park were designed in 2006 by renowned Israeli sculptor Dani Karavan, based on the theme ‘Harmony between Nature and Art’. It was awesome and nice experience. Good Job Uncle DANI!????????

HANGING WITH DEER IN JAPAN!!! Nara Day Trip from Kyoto
While we were staying in Kyoto we decided to do a day trip to Nara, the historic city in Japan that is famous for being filled with sacred deer.
Doing a Nara day trip from Kyoto independently was very easy and cheap, and we managed to visit most of the main attractions in one day. Besides the deer hanging out in Nara Park (and everywhere else in the city), we saw the Todai-ji Temple, Isui-en Garden, Kasuga-taisha Shrine, and more.
There are a lot of things to do in Nara, so it'd definitely be worth spending a few days here if you had the time. But if you're on a tight schedule, don't worry, because you can still do a lot.
If you're looking for a great day trip from Kyoto, make sure you check out all the cool things you can do with one day in Nara in our travel vlog.

Nara Isuien Garden Japan GoPro
Support our channel :
Isuien (依水園) is an attractive Japanese garden with a variety of features, such as the use of Todaiji Temple's Nandaimon Gate and Mount Wakakusayama as borrowed scenery. Isuien means garden founded on water, and the garden's name is derived from the fact that its ponds are fed by the small adjacent Yoshikigawa River. The Yoshikien Garden is located just on the other side of the river.
Isuien is divided into two parts, a front garden and a rear garden, with a number of tea houses scattered throughout. The front garden has a longer history, dating back to the mid 17th century. The rear garden, the larger of the two, is more recent and was built in 1899 by a wealthy merchant. Next to the garden there is a museum displaying a personal collection of pottery, seals, mirrors and other artifacts from ancient China and Korea, which is included with admission.
Located in central Nara, a visit to Isuien Garden is easily combined with seeing other attractions such as Todaiji Temple and Kofukuji Temple, which are both a ten minute walk away.

Japan Travel: Asuka Japan's first capital with oldest history, Nara, Japan03 Moopon
Asuka is a small region in Nara Prefecture, located about 25 kilometers south of Nara City, which used to play a pivotal role in Japanese history. Lending its name to the Asuka Period (538-710), the Asuka region was where Japan's first capitals were established, from where the early Japanese national figure emerged. Although a few monuments of that period remain, the area is now mostly covered with fields and rural villages.
Kyoto served as the Japanese capital for over a thousand years from 794 to 1868, and before that, Nara was the first permanent capital from 710 to 784. Before Nara, there was Asuka, where there were the first imperial residences. During the period, there was a lot of influence from the Asian mainland, and Buddhism was introduced to the country via the Korean peninsula. Buddhism took root quickly in the country and had an enormous spiritual and cultural impact on the country.
The remnants of the Asuka Period, that are preserved in Asuka today, are mostly limited to stone monuments and archaeological excavations. Burial tombs such as the Ishibutai Tomb or the Takamatsuzuka Tomb remains as it originally was, while artefacts and recreations are displayed at museums such as the Asuka Museum or the Complex of Manyo Culture. Also some of Japan's oldest temples are scattered among the region's villages and fields.
