Saragarhi Memorial Gurdwara was built in the memory of 21 Sikh soldiers of 36th Sikh Regiment who fought to the last against 10,000 Afgans to defend the post of Saragarhi in Afganistan on 12th September 1897. The battle is recognised as one where bravery and duty were most personified. It was the greatest sacrifice of the 21 Sikh brave warriors for which each of them was honoured with The Indian Order of Merit, the highest gallantry award that time to be bestowed on Indian Soldiers.
The 36th Sikh Regiment (now the 4th Battalion of the Sikh regiment) was raised at Ferozpur in April 1887 under the command of Colonel Cook. In January 1897 the Regiment was sent to Fort Lock Hard of which Saragarhi and Gulistan were important posts. The memorial Gurdwara was built at Ferozpur at a cost of 27,118 Rupees by the army authorities to honour these brave soldiers. The Gurdwara was declared open in 1904 by Sir Charles Pevz, the then Lieutenant Governor of Punjab.
Every year on 12th September a grand function is organised here. The Gurdwara Sevadars along with army personnel of the area and fifth generation family members of the 21 Sikh soldiers, who come from different area of Punjab and abroad, are honoured with a siropa. Bhai Belumber Singh, head Granthi, has been looking after the Saragarhi Gurdwara in Ferozpur since 2004.
A special remembrance ceremony was organised by Bhai Belumber Singh Ji on Sunday 12th November 2017 to receive a delegation of Sikhs from the UK and other parts of the Punjab who wanted to pay homage to the 21 Sikh soldiers who died in 1897 defending a signalling post in Saragarhi in Afganistan. Amongst them were Sardar Dal Singh Dhesy, Chairman of Sikh Community & Youth Service UK - affiliated to the Royal British Legion, who laid a wreath with Ranvir Singh Virdi and Jaswinder Kaur Virdi. Other persons present on this occasion were: Sardar Bahadhur Singh Sandhu from Punjab Sath Lambra, Bhai Gurdial Singh Lukhpuri Dhadi Jatha, Sgt Piara Singh Saggu ex Indian Air Force and Sardar Balbir Singh Jandu. The congregation included families of local soldiers who are based at the army barracks in Ferozpur. Miss Sukjinder Kaur and Miss Heavenpreet Kaur, students from Virsa Sambhal Project, recited through hymns to the congregation. After the prayers (Ardas), various distinguished guests were honoured with a siropa.

The National Martyrs Memorial Hussainiwala, built in 1968, depicts an irrepressible revolutionary spirit of the three National Martyrs, Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. The memorial is located just one km from the India-Pakistan border on the Indian side and has memorials of Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev. After Partition, the cremation spot went to Pakistan but on January 17, 1961, this martyr's land was received when India gave 12 villages near the Sulemanki Headworks (Fazilka) to Pakistan. B.K. Dutt was also cremated here on 19 July 1965 and in accordance with his last wishes. Bhagat Singh's mother, Punjab Mata Vidyawati, was also cremated here in accordance with her last wish.
