DC pedicabber detained near the Lincoln Memorial by US Park Police -- Wed. 8/8/2012
Many pedicab operators in the District of Columbia are continually approached by select officers of the US Park Police. While no rule specifically bans pedicabs from operating on the National Mall, many of these federal agents site ambiguous local regulation - drafted unilaterally by DDOT last year - to issue citations that are almost always dismissed by the DC Adjudication Services. Additionally, several arrests have been made in the past 18 months. In one more dramatic event, an operator was tasered, twice, only for prosecutors to ultimately drop those charges as well. The next criminal trial for a veteran DC operator, charges of resisting arrest when he simply refused to put away his video camera, will take place on Sept. 19 - 21, 500 Indiana Ave. NW, Courtroom 220. Washington, DC's Capital Bikeshare: Tax $$$ for Rich, Educated, White Riders
Capital Bikeshare, which rents bikes at more than 165 outdoor stations in the Washington D.C. area, serves highly educated and affluent whites.
There's nothing wrong with that, of course, except that the program has received $16 million in government subsidies, including over $1 million specifically earmarked to address the unique transportation challenges faced by welfare recipients and low-income persons seeking to obtain and maintain employment.
The program is part of a recent explosion in taxpayer-subsidized bike rental services, which have also hit the streets of Chicago, Philadelphia, Boston , Denver, Boulder, Houston, Minneapolis, Broward, Madison, Omaha, San Antonio, and Des Moines.
Capital Bikeshare's latest user survey finds that 95 percent of its regular patrons have college degrees, 53 percent have a Masters or Ph.D., and 80 percent are white. Fully 0 percent have only a high school diploma and just 7 percent make less than $25,000 a year. More than 90 percent were employed and 14 percent reported they were college students, suggesting that very few welfare recipients are using the service.
Capital Bikeshare is run by Portland-based Alta Planning + Design in partnership with four jurisdictions: Alexandria, VA; Arlington, VA; Montgomery County, MD; and the District of Columbia. So far, the program has received $15.9 million[*] in state, local, and federal subsidies.
Why are affluent, educated, and employed whites riding taxpayer-subsidized bikes?
ReasonTV Correspondent Kennedy investigates.
[*]: Government funding for Capital Bikeshare is collected separately by each jurisdiction, and breaks down as follows: District of Columbia ($10.3 million), Montgomery County ($3.1 million), Arlington ($1.9 million), and Alexandria ($600 thousand).

Better Qualified works closely with collections attorneys to comb through all of your 3rd party collections in search of violations. When an account is sold to a 3rd party, often times the collection company will violate set regulations. This leaves the consumer paying more than they have to or paying for something that isn’t theirs. Many people who have bad credit often find themselves in difficult situations financially. But what exactly does it mean to have 'bad credit,' 'blemished credit,' or 'less-than-perfect credit?' Having a poor credit score can seriously affect you financially. One thing that can happen is that you could be denied credit. A low credit score indicates to lenders that you are a high-risk borrower and they may not be willing to lend you money. Another thing that can happen is that you aren't denied credit, but it may be more expensive for you to get a credit. You may have to pay more in fees or with a higher interest rate which will increase your monthly payment. Installment credit is used for a specific purpose, for a defined amount and for a specific period. Payments are usually the same amount each month. Examples of purchases made on installment credit include large appliances, automobiles and furniture. These kinds of loans usually offer lower interest rates than revolving credit. For example, a car company holds a lien on the car until the car loan is repaid. The total amount of the principal and interest is repaid within a predefined period. If the customer defaults on the loan payments, the company can repossess the car and charge penalties. Better Qualified has developed a proven credit management program that will help you manage your credit and save money. Columbia, located in northern mid-Missouri, is 120 miles (190 km) away from both St. Louis and Kansas City, and 29 miles (47 km) north of the state capital Jefferson City. The city is near the Missouri River between the Ozark Plateau and the Northern Plains. Trees are mainly oak, maple, and hickory; common understory trees include eastern redbud, serviceberry, and flowering dogwood. Riparian areas are forested with mainly American sycamore. Much of the residential area of the city is planted with large native shade trees. In Autumn, the changing color of the trees is notable. Most species here are typical of the Eastern Woodland.

DC Mayor Fenty At It Again
DC's Mayor Adrian Fenty has stipulated new ways to make DC local government harder on DC residents. Mayor Fenty's 2010 budget proposal will cut 1,632 government jobs and contract out essential city services. The budget will milk DC residents of over $50 million by calling for higher fees on 911 calls, a streetlight maintenance fee, higher parking fees, and automated traffic violation control.

Listening is a more natural way of learning, when compared to reading. Written language only began at around 3200 BC, but spoken language has existed long ago.
Learning by listening is a great way to:
- increases imagination and understanding
- improves your listening skills
- improves your own spoken accent
- learn while on the move
- reduce eye strain
Now learn the vast amount of general knowledge available on Wikipedia through audio (audio article). You could even learn subconsciously by playing the audio while you are sleeping! If you are planning to listen a lot, you could try using a bone conduction headphone, or a standard speaker instead of an earphone.

SUMMARY
=======
The National Mall is a landscaped park within the National Mall and Memorial Parks, an official unit of the United States National Park System. It is located near the downtown area of Washington, D.C., the capital city of the United States, and is administered by the National Park Service (NPS) of the United States Department of the Interior. The term National Mall commonly includes areas that are also officially part of neighboring West Potomac Park and Constitution Gardens to the southwest. The term is often taken to refer to the entire area between the Lincoln Memorial on the west and east to the United States Capitol grounds, with the Washington Monument dividing the area slightly west of its midpoint. A smaller designation sometimes referred to as the National Mall (proper) excludes both the Capitol grounds and the Washington Monument grounds, applying only to an area between them. The National Mall contains and borders a number of museums of the Smithsonian Institution, art galleries, cultural institutions, and various memorials, sculptures, and statues. The park receives approximately 24 million visitors each year.
