In the beginning of the 1990s a few old military trunks appeared Some of them still had unbroken seals of two of the Bulgarian divisions, When the trunks were opened by the experts of the National history museum, inside instead of rusty ammunition were the untouched treasures of the 750 years old Archbishopric of Ohrid.

Sofia is the capital of Bulgaria and is located in the Western part of Bulgaria. It’s a largely modern and youthful city.
You can go to the ski resort where you can find two ski centers on Mount Vitosha to accommodate the visitors: they are called Aleko and Konyarnika.
Another highlight are the many museums you can find in Sofia, such as The Polytechnical Museum, The Museum of Anthropology and The Sports Museum.
Furthermore there are lots of restaurants, galleries and entertainment venues.
You can take a walk to Borisova Gradina. It’s the most attractive park with its statues and flower beds, you can take a breathe and relax after a long day. The Eastern end of the park is dominated by a gigantic communist monument built in 1959.
You can also go to Sofia Zoological Garden in the Southern part of the city. If you have the time, you can go to Borivoj Park which is in the center of the city and South Park which is the National Palace of Culture.
You can see the Sveta Sofia Church which is the capital’s oldest and gave the name at the city. You can see also Aleksander Nevski Church, it’s massive, awe-inspiring and Vitosha Mountain.
And finally you should visit the Parliament, the National Opera and Ballet, the National Theater and the Statue of Saint Sofia which reaches a height of 21 m.

A decision on the founding of a town's museum was taken back in 1928 at the proposal of the Mayor Vladimir Vazov. Initially the Museum combined the functions of a town's museum, library and archives. It is one of the oldest museums in the Capital along with the National, Military, and Archaeological Museums. The Rules of the Museum read: 'Collect, study and keep those objects of Sofia's material culture, which already have or will have a bearing on the history of the town'.

Katia Damianova-Terzieva
Katia graduated from the National Art Academy, Sofia, MA in Ceramics in1999. As means of expression she uses photography, body-art, video, performance, installation, art intervention, software and compositions of the latter. She is the author of “Pygmalion” – the first bio-art installation in Bulgaria, exhibited at ATA Center, Sofia (2005). In 2004 together with Anton Terziev, Oleg Mavromatti and Boryana Rossa co-founded ULTRAFUTURO - an international group of artists, working in the border realm between art, technology, ethics and human/machine identity. Later one they made The establishment of national movement ULTRAFUTURO - an action at ATA Gallery of ICA, Sofia, Bulgaria, 2005. She is also co-author of actions and performances honoring the international day of the robot: “I WANTED TO BE A HUMAN”, an action together with Anton Terziev, National Polytechnic Museum, Sofia, Bulgaria, 2006 and “THE PERFECT PAINTER”, a performance with Ultrafuturo group, Dauhaus, Sofia, 05.02.2007. Again with Ultrafuturo she creates a series of performances and art interventions in public space dedicated to Bulgaria joining the EU and becoming a member of EU: “The European language”(2005), ”Happy new order”(2006), Sofia, “BG in EU, an year later” Koprivshtitza (2007), “Honeymoon forever”, Murgash Gallery, Sofia (2008), “E-uforia”, Sofia (2009). Katya took part in the exhibition “Wild girls” at “EXIT ART”, New York(USA), with her video performance” Full-blooded bread”(2006). A video documentation of the bio-art installation “Pygmalion” was shown at the exhibition “The presence of the body” in Troy, USA, and she participated in the project “E-tribe”, involving international artists, gathered to look for new ways to research the electronic tribes with artistic means.

С появата на новата столица на картата на Европа, към града се стичат чужденци от различни страни, за да придадат на провинциалния град модерен, европейски облик. Един от тях е художникът Йозеф Обербауер.
After Bulgaria's Liberation in 1878 the capital-to-be Sofia covered only 4 sq. km. The new capital needed a modern, European appearance, so professionals from various countries
arrived to help with this. One of them was the painter Joseph Oberbauer.
