Welcome to my travel vlog! This is an account of my american road trip, and I'm working through the Texas videos at present.
We went to the National Ranching Heritage Center in Lubbock, Texas and it was so cool! It's a historical park museum. It's like walking through history in chronological order. You start at the most primitive of houses (well, maybe not totally primitive, but really old), and work your way through architecture that describes how The West was won! You'll see the best in The West :) ha ha ha. Really though, it was so well done, and probably among the best museums I've been to in terms of the story telling and museum organization of the place. It is run by Texas Tech University. Here is their website:
We saw things like wells, kilns that looked like dog houses, cattle brands, old ranching houses that were transported there, barns, cattle traps, Indian territory houses that had special defences (Jowell House), and so much more. We saw a grocery store (the Waggoner Commissary) with an antique cash register and a can of pure lard. We saw a corral to trap cattle and an old school house that had heat capabilities it in! (It was Bairfield Schoolhouse). The big nice, Queen Anne style, two-bathroom house was a highlight, and it was under restoration while we were there. It was called Barton House. Oh wait, let's not forget the outhouse!
Sadly, we missed the cowboy. But we did see real old cowboy stuff from the Wild Wild West, like lassoo's and saddles and cowboy hats.
There were ranches, ranching equipment, horse taming areas (probably for mustangs), hay, horse carriages, a real train, and old beat up country truck, windmills, and pretty much everything except real animals and time travel abilities :) But there were jack rabbits!
I got to go with my friends and some very cute babies. One of them even gave me a fun time pretending she was at a rodeo!

USA Road Trip #6 - I'm a West Texas Foodie (in Lubbock)

Welcome to another travel vlog of my USA Road Trip!
Ok, I had so much footage of eating amazingly delicious things in Lubbock, Texas that I had to put it all together. There are some other things interspersed in this video but they all surrounded the environment the food was being eaten in. We went to Chick-Fil-A (which is awesome, and also saves the cows), a Tex-Mex restaurant called Rosa's (twice) which you also saw in the last video (we ate sopapillas for dessert and my buddies acted like secret agents).
Then let me see... there was the time I ate a pizookie at BJ's restaurant (which was an amazing experience). We had a homemade pizza night with the girls (couldn't get Adrienne to do a Julia Child impression though), went to Whataburger (where everything is bigger in Texas), went to Rudy's BBQ (and learned their marketing tactic to sell more barbecue sauce), went to pie bar (to get the vegetable portion of my dinner in), and ended up making it JUST in time for Chick-Fil-A breakfast, which was awesome! My friends are hilarious.
So basically I'm now a Texas foodie. Or a West Texas foodie. But you'll see more food in the other cities on this road trip.
The food never ends in Texas.

USA Road Trip #7 - Texas Football Game Night: UT vs Texas Tech

Welcome to my travel vlog! This is an account of my american road trip, and I'm working through the Texas videos at present.
I know nothing about football, and it shows. So the story is that my amazing friends were doing everything they could to give me a true Texan experience, because that's what I asked for. We saw the kids goin' tailgaiting for a college football game at Texas Tech (they are the Red Raiders and their mascot is the Masked Rider, and they say Guns Up!). It was against UT Austin's Longhorns (that's when you say Hook 'em Horns!), and guess what, apparently they are big rivals. So people were driving in from Austin to watch this collegiate sport, like 6 hours. For one football game! It was insane.
I got curious and my friend said, hey, why don't we give you a true American (very Texan) experience and we'll watch the game with friends while eating pizza and having chips and salsa. I was all in!
They made it so fun and when I watched the videos, I am surprised they didn't boot me out because of all the questions I kept asking! I must have been so annoying (seriously, there was a lot more than 6 minutes of footage of me asking dumb questions). But hey, I learned about American football and American culture! I also learned the big lesson about what football game nights are all about. You'll see that in the video :)
The cute baby who learned how to say Touchdown!!! was adorably cute too. I had to get that in.
