The bell tower of St. Sophia Cathedral in Kiev. Built in 1699-1706. In 1744-1748 under the project of Johann Schedel significantly rebuilt. In 1851-1852 under the project of the diocesan architect Paul Sparro built on the fourth tier. Included in the National Reserve Sophia of Kyiv. Included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Site.

At the turn of the XVII-XVIII centuries was apparently rebuilt in the Ukrainian Baroque style. Inside the church are preserved some original frescoes and mosaics, including the famous mosaic of the Virgin Orans.
Saint Sophia Cathedral was the first made to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, an architectural monument in Ukraine.
Since the building of the cathedral - part of the State Architectural and Historical Reserve Sophia Museum, and listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, it is forbidden to pass any religious organization and make it worship. The only exception is on 24 August - Independence Day, when representatives of religious organizations to pray Ukraine (introduced in 2005), November 22, 2006 the Holy Synod of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (Moscow Patriarchate) said that it is impossible for themselves to participate in such events.
