Garnishing Cocktails With Edible Insects
At Native bar in Singapore, your cocktail concoctions take a walk on the wild side. Here, you can find unusual flavors, including drinks garnished with ants and grasshoppers. Owner Vijay Mudaliar treks through urban and forest areas throughout Singapore in search of ingredients that push culinary boundaries. He hopes that his methods inspire future generations to better understand their environments and find forgotten ingredients that they can incorporate into their daily lives.

Inside Native Bar Singapore
Native bar in Singapore made its debut in 2017 onto both Asia's 50 Best Bars and The World's 50 Best Bars lists. Founder Vijay Mudaliar, one of Asia's leading bartenders, talks us through the concept of the bar and its signature cocktails.
Still in his twenties, Mudaliar has already received a host of accolades, including Bartender of the Year at The Bar Awards 2017 and Most Creative Cocktail Bar for Native. Taking inspiration from the local and regional landscape, Native serves cocktails with foraged ingredients from jasmine blossom to turmeric leaves to crunchy ants, with many products found just metres from the bar. In little more than a year, Native has quickly become one of the most exciting cocktail bars on one of the world’s most thriving cocktail scenes – Singapore.

Shangri-La group's statement regarding the first Wuhan virus case in Singapore | The Straits Times
All the rooms at Shangri-La's Rasa Sentosa Resort & Spa where Singapore's first confirmed case of the Wuhan virus and his travelling companions stayed in have been thoroughly cleaned and sealed off.
Four staff members who came into contact with the infected patient have also been told to stay at home since Wednesday. Shangri-La Group's executive vice-president of operations in South-east Asia and Australasia Josef Dolp said that all four are currently well and have so far not displayed any symptoms of the virus.
The infected guest, a 66-year-old Wuhan native, had checked in to the hotel with his family on Monday, Mr Dolp said.
The man had reported sick on Wednesday, before getting warded.

The threat of invasive species - Jennifer Klos
View full lesson:
Massive vines that blanket the southern United States, climbing high as they uproot trees and swallow buildings. A ravenous snake that is capable of devouring an alligator. Rabbit populations that eat themselves into starvation. These aren’t horror movie concepts – they’re real stories. But how could such situations exist in nature? Jennifer Klos gives the facts on invasive species.

HOW I TRAVEL TO SINGAPORE ON A BUDGET - Ep 01: Inside the world's best airport
I fly from Tan Son Nhat Airport (Vietnam) to Changi Airport (Singapore) by a budget airlines. The Orchid Garden features more than 700 orchids of 30 species grouped by their various colours and shapes, representing the 4 elements of nature – Earth, Water, Fire and Air. White orchids displayed with floating glass bubbles represent 'Air', while rare brown and green orchids displayed with tree root sculptures represent 'Earth'. Floral columns simulating giant candles represent 'Fire' while clustered blue and violet orchids represent the 'Water' element.
There are five themed gardens at Changi, tended by 200 gardeners. The two-storey butterfly garden has jungle plants and 1000 butterflies native to Singapore and Malaysia. It has timber walkways and an indoor six-metre waterfall.
If the humidity plays havoc with the bride's make-up, she can always head to the rooftop sunflower garden with 500 plants, the orchid garden with a pond full of koi, the rooftop cactus garden with a bar, or the enchanted garden with four giant glass bouquet sculptures filled with plants. As visitors walk through this last garden, it comes alive with sounds.
All gardens are free, but if you want to relax by the airport's Balinese-themed outdoor rooftop pool it will cost $S14. There are sun lounges and cabanas around the water and a bar that also serves food.
