Alaska Vacation Travel Video Guide
Travel video about destination Alaska.
Alaska is a country situated on the edge of the Arctic and dream destination for wildlife and nature lovers who answer to the call of the wild. A land of bears, glaciers, pioneers and prospectors on the northern tip of the American continent. In Vancouver, Canada’s pearl of the Pacific Ocean, begins an extraordinary journey along the Alexander Archipelago in the Gulf Of Alaska, a charming capital with European flair. In English Bay a giant metal crab guards the planetarium and by aquabus our journey travels across False Creek to Science World with its marvellous glass globe that contains a museum of modern art. Ketchikan is a small town located five hundred and twenty six nautical miles north of Vancouver and was founded by the Tlingit Indians. In the 1880’s the town based its economy on salmon and timber but today relies upon tourism. Since 1900, Juneau has been the capital city of Alaska, the forty ninth state of the U.S.A. In 1880, Joe Juneau, Richard Harris and their Tlingit Indian leader, Chief Kowee, discovered gold in Gold Creek and the gold rush began. Glacier Bay was completely covered by ice and glaciers around four thousand years ago during the Little Ice Age. The ice melted and the ever-changing glaciers are today situated within the arms of the bay which stretches almost a hundred kilometres to the north. Barrow is the northernmost point of inhabited North America and five hundred kilometres north of the Arctic Circle. The living conditions in the arctic wastelands are extremely harsh and most of the year it is bone-chillingly cold. Even today the promise of untamed nature and boundless freedom attracts us to America’s final wilderness. Alaska is full of wild extremes and stark contrasts, a fascinating land of pure adventure!

The National Wildlife Refuges of Alaska - A Visual Tour
The National Wildlife Refuges of Alaska
- A stunning visual tour of America's bountiful preserved resources in the largest state in the U.S. ...ALASKA!
Alaska (əˈlæskə/) is a state in the United States, situated in the northwest extremity of the North American continent, with the international boundary with Canada to the east, the Arctic Ocean to the north, and the Pacific Ocean to the west and south, with Russia further west across the Bering Strait. Alaska is the largest state in the United States by area, the 4th least populous and the least densely populated of the 50 United States. Approximately half of Alaska's 731,449 residents live within the Anchorage metropolitan area. Alaska's economy is dominated by the oil, natural gas, and fishing industries; it has these resources in abundance.
Alaska was purchased from Russia on March 30, 1867, for $7.2 million ($120 million adjusted for inflation) at approximately two cents per acre ($4.74/km²). The land went through several administrative changes before becoming an organized (or incorporated) territory on May 11, 1912, and the 49th state of the U.S. on January 3, 1959.[6]
The name Alaska (Аляска) was already introduced in the Russian colonial period, when it was used only for the peninsula and is derived from the Aleut alaxsxaq, meaning the mainland or, more literally, the object towards which the action of the sea is directed. It is also known as Alyeska, the great land, an Aleut word derived from the same root. (Summary from Wikipedia.org)

Tongass National Forest| Northernmost Rainforest in the World | Love Nature
We filmed this amazing footage in the Tongass National Forest, the largest protected rainforest in the United States and the northernmost rainforest in the world. The forest includes most of Alaska’s panhandle near the top of the earth.
In this short nature documentary, we explore how it’s possible that a rainforest exists this close to the top of the Earth. In a place once covered in ice, not much soil was left behind after the glaciers receded. But trees with a rare ability to pump nitrogen into the ground supply life to the rainforest. Drenched in fog, mist, and rain, precipitation hangs heavy in the air. Alaska’s biodiversity of plant life is living testament to the health of the air, water, and soil in Tongass National Forest.
We float magically through the understory as state-of-the-art dactylcam flies us past rainforest ferns in this gorgeous aerial photography. We take a scenic tour through the ancient old growth forest of the Tongass, where 200-foot trees live over 800 years. See the assortment of life that’s sustained when these mighty trees finally fall to the forest floor. They continue to enrich the rainforest and prompt the cycle of growth to begin again, including species as varied as coastal brown bears, bald eagles, and salmon

Had an epic trip to Alaska in May 2018 with my girlfriend. She filmed and photographed about 90% of the trip, so most of the credit goes to her for these clips. Hope you enjoy!
We saw a lot on this trip: Denali National Park, Anchorage, Alaska Zoo, Whittier, Surprise Glacier, Girdwood, Seward, Alaska Sealife Center, Alaska Wildlife Conservation Center, Esther Passage, tons of wildlife and more.

The Ends of the Earth - Alaska's Wild Peninsula
The Alaska Peninsula is a cloud-cloaked land of active volcanoes, rolling tundra and the greatest concentration of the largest bears on earth. The writings of naturalist Loren Eiseley inspire this filmic essay on a landscape where bears outnumber people and the sockeye salmon run is the most prolific in the world. At the base of the peninsula lies Katmai National Park, a wilderness larger Yellowstone and Yosemite -- combined. Farther down the peninsula a giant volcanic caldera emerges on the horizon, so remote that more people climb Everest than visit Aniakchak. But Alaska is warming at more than twice the rate of the rest of the planet; The Ends of the Earth, John Grabowska's lyrical film on the Alaska Peninsula, asks how climate change effects will impact this magnificent land of wilderness and wildlife.
Ketchikan Alaska Settlers Cove Rainforest Tour
This video showcases the lush rainforest of the Settlers Cove State Park located at one end of the main road in Ketchikan, Alaska. Most if not all tour buses miss this gem of a destination so it ought not to be crowded when you visit...and it's well worth the visit. As you walk through the rainforest paths it feels like some sort of mystical creature like a troll, elf or hobbit will be poking its head around a tree at any moment. Everything is lush and green, which I suppose is not surprising considering that Ketchikan is evidently the rainiest place in Alaska. The beach area of the park is supposed to be a great place to spot bald eagles, although we didn't see any here during our visit. As you can see from the video, the trees in this Alaskan rainforest are massive, with some probably as wide as a smart car. If you like this Ketchikan Alaska Settlers Cove Rainforest Tour video then make sure to give it a thumbs up!
