Cumberland Island National Seashore in Georgia is an awesome day trip to take in the southern US. It's only accessible by boat and there's a daily passenger ferry that takes visitors to the secluded island from mainland Georgia. Once on Cumberland Island, hiking trails through oak tree canopies open up to stunning natural beaches.
Yet many visitors come to find the Cumberland Island wild horses that roam free around the island. These wild horses are often found in the historic district, where the Carnegies built a 59-room mansion known as Dungeness.
The history, horses, hiking, and natural beaches all add up to make Cumberland Island National Seashore such an awesome day trip to take in Georgia. For more info, be sure to check out our complete blog post about this gem in the US National Park system:

Established in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps, Hunting Island is a 5,000-acre park with 5 miles of undeveloped beach. This secluded tropical paradise, which is located in the heart of South Carolinas Sea Islands, is home to an array of wildlife such as deer, alligators, snakes, and even a popular nesting ground for the endangered loggerhead turtle.
According to (southcarolinaparks.com) Hunting Island is one of South Carolina’s most popular state parks, attracting more than a million visitors a year. The park offers camping, boating, picnicking, swimming, bird watching, geocaching, biking and hiking.
We’ve been coming to Hunting Island since 2011 and we immediately fell in love. Because of this we decided to make a list of our Top 5 Things to do while visiting the island. But before we get started we wanted to throw a trivia question out there for you all. There have been three films filmed at Hunting Island. Can you name them? The answer will be found in this week’s blog.
