Hiking Bryce Canyon - Queens Garden Navajo Loop Trail
The beautiful Bryce Canyon National Park!
Distance Round Trip: 2.9 miles
Elevation Change: 580 ft down, and then 580 ft back up again
The Queens Garden / Navajo combination is one of the most popular ways to enjoy Bryce Canyon and its famous Hoodoo rock formations. From the rim, you can look down into the amphitheater and see the trail winding through along the bottom. If you are up for a longer hike, it is also possible to combine this trail with the Peekaboo loop or other trails that branch off at the bottom of the canyon.
Clockwise or counter-clockwise? There are opinions either way, but based on my research the Internet consensus seems to veer slightly towards clockwise if you want the best views. I would definitely agree that the scenery is better going down from Sunrise Point, but all in all I don't think it matters since you'll pass by the same formations either way. The biggest difference is that starting from Sunrise Point gives you a slow descent and a nice meandering trail through the canyon, followed by a short but strenuous climb out. Starting from Sunset drops you straight into the canyon, and then you'll be faced with a longer, moderate climb back out again. There are plenty of Hoodoos on display no matter which direction you choose :)
We started off from the parking lot at Sunset Point, and then hiked clockwise along the rim to Sunrise Point to begin our descent. We also checked out Rainbow Point and the Natural Bridge. Check out the details here, at the National Park Service website:

We hiked in the middle of the hoodoos starting from Sunrise Point, descending on the Queens Garden Trail and reaching Sunset Point via the Navajo Loop Trail. This is one of the most popular trails in Bryce Canyon. Hoodoos are most commonly found in the High Plateaus region of the Colorado Plateau and in the Badlands regions of the Northern Great Plains. The trail offers a great view on Thor's Hammer. Sunset Point in the best view in the park after Inspiration Point.

Queens Garden Navajo Loop Trail - Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah - 4K60
This trail consists of two trails in conjunction. The Queens Garden Trail and the Navajo Loop Trail, both of which reside in a very majestic portion of Bryce Canyon National Park.
The trail itself has two approaches. You can move clockwise or counter-clockwise, with the park guide suggesting clockwise as the preferred approach (which is in the video).
The hike starts out with spectacular views of the hoodoos of Bryce Canyon. After a rim view of the area, you are taken down into the hoodoos themselves. This portion of the hike was like nothing I've done. It was incredible.
You progress down through the canyon and are greeted with panoramic views of the surrounding area, which do not disappoint. As you move onto the Navajo Loop Trail, the scenery changes from hoodoos to forested canyons of red rock that are nearly as ascetically pleasing.
The hike up, be it clockwise or counter-clockwise, is very steep and challenging. I would classify this hike as hard, but not extreme.
The area is also very busy. The parking lot is large, but was almost completely full during our trek through the park. You may have to wait for parking depending on the time of year.
This was my favorite hike in Utah. Definitely in my top three of all time. Undoubtedly recommended.
Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah - Queen's Garden and Navajo Loop Trails HD (2013)
Bryce Canyon National Park is a national park located in southwestern Utah in the United States. The major feature of the park is Bryce Canyon, which despite its name, is not a canyon but a collection of giant natural amphitheaters along the eastern side of the Paunsaugunt Plateau. Bryce is distinctive due to geological structures called hoodoos, formed by frost weathering and stream erosion of the river and lake bed sedimentary rocks. The red, orange, and white colors of the rocks provide spectacular views for park visitors. Bryce sits at a much higher elevation than nearby Zion National Park. The rim at Bryce varies from 8,000 to 9,000 feet (2,400 to 2,700 m).
The Bryce Canyon area was settled by Mormon pioneers in the 1850s and was named after Ebenezer Bryce, who homesteaded in the area in 1874. The area around Bryce Canyon became a National Monument in 1923 and was designated as a National Park in 1928. The park covers 35,835 acres (55.99 sq mi; 145.02 km2) and receives relatively few visitors compared to Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon, largely due to its remote location.
Hiking Navajo Loop Trail | Bryce Canyon National Park | 3 min (Utah)
We hiked the hoodoos of Navajo Loop Trail in Bryce Canyon National Park, UT. This is one of the most popular trails in Bryce Canyon NP.
Hoodoos are most commonly found in the High Plateaus region of the Colorado Plateau and in the Badlands regions of the Northern Great Plains.
We loved walking in the middle of these colorful limestone rock formations. Their beauty was breathtaking. The amazing giant Douglas Firs trees are between 500 and 700 years old and in the middle of the hoodoos. The trail offers a great view on Thor's Hammer. Sunset Point in the best view in the park after Inspiration Point.

Bryce Canyon National Park - Sunrise to Sunset Point hike through Hoodoos
The Navajo Loop Trail descends from Sunset Point through the slot canyon of Wall Street, where 500 to 700-year-old Douglas Firs reach upward toward the sunlight at the top of the canyon. The Navajo Loop is the most popular trail in the park, and is often combined with the Queen's Garden Trail to form a longer loop that passes through the Queen's Garden and emerges onto the rim at Sunrise Point. From here two very scenic and easy strolls can be taken as part of the Rim Trail. A ½-mile walk to the north on a wheelchair accessible trail which takes you to Sunset Point. Walking ¾ of a mile to the south across gently rolling terrain, you arrive at Inspiration Point.
My exact route:
Start at Sunset Point - known as Queens Garden Trail
Quick stop at Queen Victoria
Continue Queens Garden Trail to Peeakaboo Loop.
Hike Peekaboo Loop counter clockwise
Head up Navajo Loop (known as all street.
Finish up at Sunset Point.
