It is 7 km on the way to Ooty. From here one can see almost every part of Gudalur and Mudumalai Wildlife Sanctuary, Gudalur town, Bandipur and parts of Mysore. On the other side, you can see parts of Kerala. You can also see a mountain popularly known as Sleeping Beauty (also called Aanakkallu) which is exactly in the shape of a sleeping woman.

യാത്രകളെ ഏറെ ഇഷ്ടപ്പെടുന്ന ഒരു സാധാരണ മലബാരി ദമ്പതികൾ ഞങ്ങൾ, ഞാൻ അലി കൂടെ ഇവൾ ഭാനു. ഞങ്ങൾ ഞങ്ങളെ വിളിക്കുന്നത് Ramble PAIR എന്നാണ്.

ഈ ലോകം ചുറ്റിക്കാണുക, വിവിധങ്ങളായ സംസ്കാരങ്ങളെ, ഭക്ഷണങ്ങളെ, പ്രകൃതിയെ അവിടങ്ങളിലെ ജീവ ജാലങ്ങളെ, മരങ്ങളെ പൂക്കളെ അടുത്തറിയുക, അനുഭവിച്ചറിയുക എന്ന ലക്ഷ്യത്തോടെ ബാഗും പാക്ക് ചെയ്ത് ഇറങ്ങിയവർ. കിട്ടുന്ന ഇടവേളകൾ അത് ഒന്നായാലും രണ്ടായാലും പത്തായാലും അത്രയും ദിനങ്ങളെ യാത്ര നിമിഷങ്ങളാക്കി മാറ്റുക എന്നതാണ് ലക്ഷ്യം.

പതുക്കെ ഞങ്ങൾ തുടങ്ങുകയാണ് ഇന്നത്തെ യാത്ര.

ഊട്ടിയിലേക്ക് പുറപ്പെടുകയാണ്, അതി രാവിലെ അച്ചനമ്പലം വീട്ടിൽ നിന്നിറങ്ങി. വേങ്ങര വഴി മഞ്ചേരി നിലമ്പൂർ കടന്നു നാടുകാണി ചുരത്തിലേക്ക്. പുലർച്ചയോടെ ആലസ്യത്തിൽ നിന്നും രാവ് പകലിലേക്ക് വഴി മാറുമ്പോൾ ചുരത്തിലെ കോട മഞ്ജു പതുക്കെ ഉരുകി മുന്നിലേക്കുള്ള കാഴ്ചക്കു കൃത്യത വരുന്ന പോലെ. കഴിഞ്ഞ ദിവസം പെയ്ത മഴയിലും കാറ്റിലും വീണു കിടക്കുന്ന മരച്ചില്ലകൾ, ചെറിയ കല്ലുകൾ അങ്ങിനെ അല്പം ദുർഘടമായ പാതയിലൂടെ ഞങ്ങൾ ഗൂഡല്ലൂർ ലക്ഷ്യമാക്കി മുന്നോട്ട്. ഇടക്ക് പാലത്തിന്റെ പണിയും നടക്കുന്നു. എന്നാലും കോടമഞ്ഞിനെ കീറി മുറിച്ചുള്ള ഈ യാത്ര മനോഹരം തന്നെ.

നാടുകാണി ചുരത്തിന്റെ നെറുകയിൽ നിന്ന് കൊണ്ടെൻ നാടുകാണാൻ വരുമോ നീ തത്തമ്മേ എന്ന പാട്ടും കേട്ടങ്ങിനെ ഗൂഡല്ലൂരിലേക്ക് പ്രവേശിച്ചു.

പ്രഭാത ഭക്ഷണത്തിനു സമയമായില്ല, എന്നാലും ഊട്ടി എത്തും മുമ്പേ അധികമാരും പോകാത്ത കാണാത്ത അല്ലേൽ നഷ്ടപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന നല്ലൊരടിപൊളി സ്ഥലം പോകേണ്ടതുണ്ട് എന്നത് കൊണ്ട് വളരെ ലേറ്റ് ആയി ഭക്ഷണം കഴിച്ചു.

അപ്പൊ വാ ആദ്യത്തെ ലക്ഷ്യത്തിലേക്ക് പോകാം.

മൈസൂർ ഊട്ടി റോഡിൽ ഗൂഡല്ലൂർ നിന്നും 8 കിലോമീറ്ററും ഊട്ടിയിൽ നിന്നും 51 കിലോമീറ്റർ യാത്ര ചെയ്താൽ നീഡിൽ റോക്ക് വ്യൂ പോയിന്റ് എത്തിച്ചേരാം. മെയിൻ റോഡിൽ തന്നെ ബോർഡും ടിക്കറ്റ് കൗണ്ടറും നമുക്ക് കാണാം. റോഡ് സൈഡിൽ തന്നെ കാർ പാർക്ക് ചെയ്ത ടിക്കറ്റിനായി അവൾ പോയ സമയം ഞാൻ അവിടം കുറച്ച് ഷൂട്ട് ചെയ്തു. രണ്ട് പേർക്ക് 10 രൂപ ടിക്കറ്റ്.
റോഡിൽ നിന്നും 400 മീറ്റർ നടക്കാനുണ്ട് വ്യൂ പോയിന്റിലേക്ക്. ചെറിയൊരു ട്രക്കിങ്ങിനൊള്ള പോലെയാണ് വഴി ഉള്ളത് . അല്പം സ്റ്റെപ്പുകൾ ഇറങ്ങി പിന്നീട് കുറച്ചേറെ സ്റ്റെപ്പുകളും നീണ്ട വഴിയും കാണാം പാറകൾക്ക് സൈഡിലൂടെ.

നിരവധി തമിഴ് സിനിമകൾക്ക് ലൊക്കേഷനായിട്ടുണ്ട് ഇവിടം, കുറെയേറെ ആളുകൾ തിരിച്ചു വരുന്നുണ്ടായിരുന്നു ഞങ്ങൾ അങ്ങോട്ട് പോകുമ്പോൾ, കൂടുതലും ദക്ഷിണേന്ത്യക്കാർ ആയിരുന്നു. കാറ്റിലാടുന്ന മരങ്ങൾക്കിടയിലൂടെ അങ്ങ് ദൂരെ മഞ്ഞു പുതച്ചു കിടക്കുന്നത് കാണാം. എന്തൊരു ഭംഗിയാ. മുന്നോട്ട് നടക്കും തോറും മരങ്ങൾ മെല്ലെ മാഞ്ഞു പോയി. മഞ്ജു മൂടിയ മലയുടെ താഴ്‌വാരം കണ്ണിനു കുളിർമയായി തുടങ്ങി.
