Kathwala Nepal Temple, Varanasi - Incredible Spiritual India
Nepali Mandir (Hindi: नेपाली मंदिर), also known as (a.k.a. Kanthwala Mandir and Mini Khajuraho) (Kanthwala in Hindi means wooden), is one of the oldest and most famous temples in the holy city of Varanasi. This temple has great religious importance in Hinduism and is dedicated to the Lord Shiva. Constructed in the 19th century A.D by the King of Nepal, the temple is made of terracotta, stone and wood and is replica of the Pashupatinath Temple in Kathmandu.
History
King of Nepal, Rana Bahadur Shah took exile in Varanasi from 1800 to 1804 and titled himself as Swami Nirgunanda. During his exile, he decided to build a replica of Pashupatinath Temple in Varanasi. Construction of the temple commenced during his exile / stay in Varanasi. During the construction, Shah moved back to Nepal. On April 25, 1806, Rana Bahadur Shah was stabbed to death by his stepbrother, Sher Bahadur Shah. His son Girvan Yuddha Bikram Shah Deva completed the project 20 years after the deadline. The land was later transferred to Rana Bahadur Shah by Kashi Naresh in the year 1843. The temple, adjacent area, Lalita Ghat and a dharamshala, belongs to the Nepal government.
Construction
The mandir is made of terracotta, stone and wood and took three decades to complete. The wood is termite proof. It is constructed in Nepali style of architecture and is surrounded by tamarind and ficus religiosa (peepal) trees. The temple has Pagoda style architecture, maily carved out of wood. It has sculptures similar to ones displayed in Khajuraho Group of Monuments and hence it is also called Mini Khajuraho.
Location
Nepali Mandir is located on Lalita ghat in Varanasi. It is 3.8 kilometers South-East of Varanasi Junction railway station and 100 meters South-West of Manikarnika Ghat.

Well, the famous temple of Pashupatinath is located in Nepal but the temple of the temple is also in Varanasi. The specialty of this temple is that there is a temple of Kashi in exactly the same style as the Temple of Pashupatinath in Nepal. The architectural architectural design is very ancient. Viewing this temple makes such a feeling that there exists any temple in Nepal.
In its own right, this temple is completely different from other Shiva temples of Kashi. This temple, made using Nepali wood, attracts people very much. Shivaling is established in the form of Pashupatinath in the sanctum sanctorum inside the temple. It is believed that this Pashupantin of Kashi receives the same result from the philosophy of Pashupatinath of Nepal.

Pashupatinath Temple - main Hindu temple in Kathmandu, Nepal - Smaller scale Varanasi
I took this video on October 19th, 2013 at the Pashupatinath Temple in Katmandu, Nepal; the main Hindu temple in all Nepal. The whole area is holy ground dedicated to god Shiva, and the whole enormous complex resembles the sacred city of Varanasi, city of Gods, in a smaller scale. It also has its Ganges river, its Aarti Puja, it's cremations, it's Sadhus living in the hermitages and temples, smoking hashish or marihuana, doing their daily rituals. Along the river, that is a smaller scale representation of the Ganges river, you can permanently see cremations, with the relatives of the deceased sitting beside (traditionally only men from the family go to the cremations, because they say that women weep, and weeping brings unrest to the soul of the dead). Inside the Temple compound, near the entrance, there is an hospice for poor old people that are waiting for death. As in Varanasi (Benares), there is a commission that collects their savings (usually donations that people give to them), plus also accepts donations for that purpose. With that money they can buy the special wood they need for their cremation once they die. Approximately 80 kg. of a very resinous type of wood is required to fully burn one body. All Hindus need to be cremated to be liberated, except Sadhus (holy men), who don't need to be burnt because they are already considered pure. So Sadhus are simply buried. Every day at 6 PM priests and Sadhus perform Pujas, including the main Aarti Puja (religious ritual). This also resembles what is done in Varanasi.
