railroad pass trail crossing, boulder city and henderson, nevada
after seeing this recreational trail i thought to research it and it happens to be the incredibly long river mountains loop trail, taking around the river mountains range in a complete circle for 35 miles, if you think im crazy for wanting to do the entire trail on a bicycle well i guess i am because i cant live without riding a bicycle
this trail was built to have 2 trail railroad crossings that were near the edge of the blasted mountain to allow hualing anything from one valley to the next over 100 years ago
i wanted to see the train ride over the new railroad bridge but for some ridiculous reason they put a red rail flag in front of it, the bridge is 1 year old and barely had any traffic
sorry for not posting a video, life in las vegas has been a bit ridiculous, i upgraded my video editor and now im trying to find non copyright fitting music for the 2018 holiday and craft festival when i did my first show with my N scale club...if you are wondering why i don't volunteer at the museum, i signed the papers but i live more than 30 miles away and i cant always go to boulder city...and for how long it takes to work my way up to being an engineer ive been thinking to do other things and save 250$ for when to drive the locomotive for fun which i don't mind....this is the cheapest place in the united states to drive a diesel locomotive
im waiting for the Nevada southern railway museum to finish fixing the new to the collection maersk SDP40F and the SP F40PH and i really need to drive the F40PH ive been waiting my entire life to drive it ever since i was a boy in the Midwest, i love the shape of that locomotive very much
let me know if you want to see my modular freelanced N scale layout...my first layout with scenery and DCC...that video wont be as quick as you think
A Train Ride at the Southern Nevada Railroad Museum Boulder City, NV Part 1/3
The train ride was great but the inside of the train is old I'm thinking that the outside train is old I'm not 100% sure on that you know what I'll just get out of the subject because I probably sounded really stupid, well for the youtube viewers out there I guess. The train ride was good it wasn't long and this was in Boulder City, NV. Boulder City, NV has this train ride and some fast food places it had the railroad pass casino it's also a hotel. The railroad pass casino was great but old. Enjoy my train ride at the Southern Nevada Railroad Museum!
Boulder City Nevada
Hi, my name is Jennifer, with Desert Adventures, out of Boulder City, Nevada. And, Boulder City is the town that built the Hoover Dam. Initially, when the, when the government announced the building of the Dam, workers came from all over the United States, in effort to find a job-that was during the Great Depression. Housing was not available for the workers. Before Boulder City was built, perspective workers would live in Tent City, shanty towns, one of which being, on the Colorado River, called Rag Town. Conditions were hot, unsanitary, there was some deaths due to heat-related illness. Boulder City needed to be built.
Six companies, the company that built the Dam, as well as the federal government, made it a priority to build the town for the workers to live in. What their focus was, to provide a clean living and working environment for the Dam workers. The town was designed to house approximately 5,000 workers. The status of the workers on the Hoover Dam reflected in their house sizes, and locations. The most important employees were housed on the top of the hill, near the heart of town. Managers were housed just a little bit further down the hill. And, homes for manual labourers were located further down the hill, away from the pubic buildings and parks. Boulder City was originally built as a temporary town for the Hoover Dam workers. As you can see, it's still a vibrant city today. I'm Jen, with Desert Adventures, your premiere adventure company, located in Boulder City, Nevada.

Nevada Southern Railway (Mod Horn???)
A Nevada Southern Railway train with a Westinghouse Wabco E2B1 sounding horn (most like a mod horn) pulls into its station. The engine on this train is NOT a GE (General Electric) Dash 8-40BW (as previously stated). It IS actually a General Motors Electro-Motive Division (EMD) GP30. 948 GP30 units were manufactured in La Grange, Illinois, United States.

Boulder City, Nevada - Hoover Dam
Hoover Dam, once known as Boulder Dam, is a concrete arch-gravity dam in the Black Canyon of the Colorado River, on the border between the US states of Arizona and Nevada. It was constructed between 1931 and 1936 during the Great Depression and was dedicated on September 30, 1935, by President Franklin Roosevelt. Its construction was the result of a massive effort involving thousands of workers, and cost over one hundred lives. The dam was controversially named after President Herbert Hoover.
Since about 1900, the Black Canyon and nearby Boulder Canyon had been investigated for their potential to support a dam that would control floods, provide irrigation water and produce hydroelectric power. In 1928, Congress authorized the project. The winning bid to build the dam was submitted by a consortium called Six Companies, Inc., which began construction on the dam in early 1931. Such a large concrete structure had never been built before, and some of the techniques were unproven. The torrid summer weather and the lack of facilities near the site also presented difficulties. Nevertheless, Six Companies turned over the dam to the federal government on March 1, 1936, more than two years ahead of schedule.
Hoover Dam impounds Lake Mead, and is located near Boulder City, Nevada, a municipality originally constructed for workers on the construction project, about 25 mi (40 km) southeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. The dam's generators provide power for public and private utilities in Nevada, Arizona, and California. Hoover Dam is a major tourist attraction; nearly a million people tour the dam each year. Heavily travelled U.S. 93 ran along the dam's crest until October 2010, when the Hoover Dam Bypass opened.

Time Lapse: Historic Las Vegas Railroad Cottage Move - 2
Constructed from 1909 to 1911 by the San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad to house mid-level workers, four historic Las Vegas railroad cottages were moved to the Springs Preserve in 2006 to avoid destruction. After many months of preparation, the railroad cottages are being transported by truck a half-mile within the Preserve to their final home during phase one of the restoration of the structures.
Constructed from 1909 to 1911 by the San Pedro, Los Angeles and Salt Lake Railroad to house mid-level workers, these cottages represent one of the first housing track developments in the western United States, and are significant to the early incorporation and settlement of what we now know as Las Vegas. Once the restoration project is complete, the cottages will depict early 20th century life in Las Vegas, including turn-of-the-century interior exhibits, a period-reflective town site and store fronts, and a recreation of Las Vegas' historic train depot.

Nevada Sesquicentennial in 2017 -- At Least in Clark County
Students of Nevada history know that the state was admitted to the union on Oct. 31, 1864. Nevadans recently celebrated the state's 150th birthday, but residents of the Las Vegas Valley and Clark County had reason to be less excited about the Silver State's sesquicentennial. The reason: the area we now know as Clark County was not part of the state's original boundaries. Those boundaries were not extended south to include Las Vegas and the County until Jan. 18, 1867. So, for Clark County residents, one might argue that their Nevada sesquicentennial occurs in 2017. An exhibit about part of Nevada history may be viewed at the Clark County Museum, which is open every day except Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day. The hours: 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Entry is just $2 per person, except seniors and children, who are $1 each. The museum is located at 1830 S. Boulder Highway, Henderson, NV 89002-8502. For more information, please visit ClarkCountyNV.gov or call (702) 455-7955.

Hiking - Historic Railroad Tunnels and Hoover Dam
Hiked the historic railroad tunnels that start in boulder city and continue out to the dam and across the new memorial bridge. It was such a windy day that the audio was useless so i replaced it with Uh Hmmm... by Sahy Uhns (
This hike is easy, flat level walking the whole way, lots of people on the railroad part so keep the dog on the leash for the first few miles. If you walk all the way to the bridge and back its a little over 10 miles so be prepared, bring lots of water, especially in the summer time. Would be really fun to do again on a bike. You can't bring dogs on the dam or the bridge so if you want to cross the bridge to see the view leave the pooch at home
