The coolest London bars we found in 2017
Some weird bars have opened in London in 2017. These are the quirkiest ones we found.
Ballie Ballerson is an adult ball pit with 1 million UV balls that glow in the dark. It launched as a pop-up but now has a venue in Shoreditch.
The Bletchley is a spy-themed bar where you crack codes to get cocktails. Guests at the bar use WW2 enigma machines to find their drink unique combination. It’s inspired by the Bletchley Park site where British intelligence used to break German codes during WW2.
Alcotraz is a controversial prison-themed cocktail bar where you have to smuggle in your own liquor. You’re processed by guards and wear an orange jumpsuit. It's inspired by the prison in San Francisco.
ABQ is a Breaking Bad-themed bar which is set up in an RV. Guests wear a hazmat suit and “cook” their own drinks, which are served in flasks, syringes, and other props.
The Shochu bar transformed its ceiling into blossoming cherry trees to celebrate Japan’s cherry blossom season. They used hundreds of pink flowers for their decorations.
Skylight at Tobacco Dock is a car park roof turned into a bar which boasts incredible views of the City. This winter season they installed a skating rink – the first on a roof in London.

London Walk, High Holborn (Bloomsbury) — West End Walking Tour

What is the Sicilian Avenue? an interesting thing about this street is the monumental nee-classical or Edwardian style arches that borders the two ends of the street. The street is pedestrian shopping parade, although there aren't actually that many shops in the street. As the street is in a mainly business district of London, the shops/restaurants are mostly mid to high end, but pleasant nevertheless. It's kind of quiet during the weekends.
This charming street called Sicilian Avenue it's probably the most wonderful pedestrian little street in London. It is just off Bloomsbury Sq and is lined with small boutiques & several places to eat & drink. Many eateries have outdoor seating which is perfect on a sunny day. From Wikipedia :
The Victoria and Albert Museum (often abbreviated as the V&A) in London is the world's largest museum of applied and decorative arts and design, as well as sculpture, housing a permanent collection of over 2.27 million objects. It was founded in 1852 and named after Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.
The V&A is located in the Brompton district of the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, in an area that has become known as Albertopolis because of its association with Prince Albert, the Albert Memorial and the major cultural institutions with which he was associated. These include the Natural History Museum, the Science Museum, the Royal Albert Hall and Imperial College London. The museum is a non-departmental public body sponsored by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport. As with other national British museums, entrance is free.
The V&A covers 12.5 acres (5.1 ha) and 145 galleries. Its collection spans 5,000 years of art, from ancient times to the present day, from the cultures of Europe, North America, Asia and North Africa. However, the art of antiquity in most areas is not collected. The holdings of ceramics, glass, textiles, costumes, silver, ironwork, jewellery, furniture, medieval objects, sculpture, prints and printmaking, drawings and photographs are among the largest and most comprehensive in the world.
The museum owns the world's largest collection of post-classical sculpture, with the holdings of Italian Renaissance items being the largest outside Italy. The departments of Asia include art from South Asia, China, Japan, Korea and the Islamic world. The East Asian collections are among the best in Europe, with particular strengths in ceramics and metalwork, while the Islamic collection is amongst the largest in the Western world. Overall, it is one of the largest museums in the world.
Since 2001 the museum has embarked on a major £150m renovation programme. New 17th- and 18th-century European galleries were opened on 9 December 2015. These restored the original Aston Webb interiors and host the European collections 1600–1815. The V&A Museum of Childhood in East London is a branch of the museum, and a new branch in London is being planned.

Charleston - Bloomsbury Group Bohemia
Bohemia is not a place - it's a state of mind. A commitment to live with your own sense of values, your own freedom and independence. An irrational factor that destines a man to emancipate himself from the herd and from its well-worn paths.
This video gives an insight into the values of the Bloomsbury Group (Vanessa Bell, Virginia Woolf, Maynard Keynes, EM Forster, Duncan Grant to name but a few) some of whom lived at Charleston.
They lived and breathed art - whether that be through the medium of painting, sculpting, writing - and they challenged societal norms and the philosophy of materialism. Charleston a simple rented farmhouse near Firle, East Sussex, UK, provided a place to create these various forms of art and live with a freedom not possible in the City. It is impossible to capture the old world creative atmosphere of being at Charleston but this video gives some of the feeling of the raw creativity that engulfs you as you enter and walk around.
The narration at the beginning is by David Dimbleby and the interview is between Alain de Botton and Virginia Nicholson (grandaughter of Vanessa Bell) who spent time herself at Charleston when she was a young girl.
The background music is Nuages (Clouds) from Claude Debussy's Nocturnes.
