New Mexico Governor Pulls National Guard From U.S.-Mexico Border
According to Reuters, New Mexico Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham has ordered most of the National Guard troops deployed at the state’s border with Mexico to withdraw, rejecting U.S. President Donald Trump’s contention there was a border crisis.
Most of the 118 National Guard troops deployed in the state will be withdrawn, Lujan Grisham, a Democrat, said in a statement late Tuesday. She called Trump’s frequent declarations of an immigration crisis at the border a “charade.”
The troops had been deployed by her Republican predecessor, Susana Martinez, last year at the request of Trump, also a Republican.

Civil War New Mexico: 150th Anniversary
NEW MEXICO'S LARGEST CIVIL WAR 150th ANNIVERSARY EVENT
On May 5-6, 2012, south of Santa Fe
The largest commemoration of the Civil War battles fought 150 years ago in New Mexico will be May 5-6, 2012, at the state's nonprofit living history museum, El Rancho de las Golondrinas (Ranch of the Swallows) south of Santa Fe.
In 1862 the Confederate dream of a nation from the Atlantic to the Pacific ended in New Mexico. The westernmost battles of the Civil War were fought in New Mexico. Most of the soldiers who defended New Mexico from the Confederates were Hispanics who spoke little or no English.
One Hispanic soldier, Manuel Antonio Chaves, helped defeat the Confederates in the pivotal battle by leading fellow Union soldiers to a lightly-guarded supply train. A legend in his own lifetime, he was known as El Leoncito, the little lion.
The May 5-6 event will honor Confederate and Union soldiers who fought in New Mexico through battle reenactments, demonstrations, first-person portrayals, interactive visitor participation, candlelight tours, an exhibit of actual battlefield artifacts, and a tribute ceremony. The event will be on 200 scenic acres among the 34 historic structures of El Rancho de las Golondrinas.
The event is a partnership among the State of New Mexico, New Mexico National Guard (whose units fought in the Civil War in New Mexico), El Rancho de las Golondrinas, New Mexico Civil War Commemorative Congress, and the National Park Service of the U.S. Department of the Interior.

Railfanning the San Bernardino , Cajon and the Needles Subdivision in December 2018 (12/27/18)
I was on a road trip to Barstow, California to see trains and I also wanted to see the railroad museum as well so me and my grandpa were going to Barstow, California and then we made four stops at San Bernardino , Cajon Pass , Hesperia and Victorville. I was at San Bernardino station railfanning trains including the Norfolk Southern and the Kansas City Southern De Mexico so after that I went up to Cajon Pass to see the freights go up in the rocky mountains I caught BNSF , UP trailing on the BNSF freight and then we left off to go to Hesperia, California and we caught about three trains up in Hesperia including the train chase that you will see but anyway though after Hesperia, California I went to Victorville, California to railfan trains again including the railfanner that I met at the Amtrak Victorville station was named Ron Diczhazy Trains and I wanted to say it was nice meeting you Ron Diczhazy Trains and I hope we’ll meet each other very soon again my friend! After Victorville, California I went all the way to Barstow, California and after that we made it down to Barstow, California and I was able to catch a lot of good rare freights that were passing Barstow station. I caught the military train , GECX CSX , CITIRAIL , BNSF SD40-2 , BNSF H1 , CADIZ LOCAL including the A.T.&.S.F. Bluebonnets , horn shows and more so after I railfan Barstow station I went to the Yermo crossing in Dagget, California and I only caught one long BNSF freight stacker that was passing by pretty fast and after I railfan the Yermo crossing I went back to Barstow, California again and railfan about three or two trains there at Barstow station and after I railfan Barstow station I went all the way back home and rest my whole body in bed. OH MAN! WHAT A ROAD TRIP!

In other words, tear gas is gas that causes severe irritation to the eyes.

Central Texas & Colorado River Rwy eb train on March 29th, 2018
This ex-Santa Fe branch was the Gulf, Colorado & San Saba RR, then the Heart of Texas Railroad and now it has become an OmniTrax operation called the Central Texas & Colorado River Railway. My friend, J.R. Leal, and I visited this property again on our annual Bluebonnets and Trains picture taking tour. Unfortunately, once again, between the wonderful improvements made to the track and RofW and a recent spraying for weeds, we were pretty much thwarted in our efforts to get the train WITH some bluebonnets. Just shot a couple of short clips. Rumor has it the last days for these pretty units are coming soon as they are to be replaced with different motive power in the near future.

Old Main Penitentiary through the lens of Shawna Baker Photography
Old Main Penitentiary in Santa Fe, New Mexico - site of one of the deadliest prison riots in US history. Upon the beginning of tour of the Old Main, you are given a small booklet. The very first page says 'Respecting our past to create a better future,' and dedicates it to the 14 officers who were held hostage and the 33 inmates who lost their lives during the 1980 riot. Gruesome atrocities happened within the walls of the prison during those 36 fateful hours, and it is haunting. But it is history, and it is in sharing this history that we can preserve and dignify the truth.

USS Barnwell Blue Navy Blue
APA/LPA -- Attack Transports
In the early 1940s, as the Navy expanded in response to the threat of involvement in World War II, a large number of civilian passenger ships and larger freighters were acquired, converted to transports and given hull numbers in the AP series. Some of these were outfitted with heavy boat davits and other arrangements to enable them to handle landing craft for amphibious assault operations. In 1942, when the AP number series had already extended beyond 100, it was decided that these amphibious warfare ships really constituted a separate category of warship from conventional transports. Therefore, the new classification of Attack Transport (APA) was created and new numbers were assigned to fifty-eight APs (AP #s 2, 8-12, 14-18, 25-27, 30, 34-35, 37-40, 48-52, 55-60, 64-65 and 78-101) then in commission or under construction.
