Take a tour of the newly-renovated Presque Isle Lighthouse
Take a live tour through the grounds of the Presque Isle Lighthouse on Presque Isle State Park and hear from executive director Michael Sullivan about what's new for 2018. The Erie Times-News and GoErie toured the lighthouse on May 25. The lighthouse opened to the public on May 24 for the 2018 season.

Presque Isle Lighthouse (Newer), Presque Isle, MI pt1
This is the tallest lighthouse in Michigan that is open to the public. It is around 113 ft high with 123 steps to the top.
The Old and New Presque Isle Lighthouses
Beautiful drone footage of the Old and New Presque Isle Lighthouses just south of Rogers City, MI. Both were built in the 1800's! Such a great place to visit.
Aerial Presque Isle Lightouses - Pure Michigan
The New Presque Isle Lightousese built in 1870 is a complex of three historic buildings including 2 keeper residences as well as the Lightouse. It is on the east coast of Michigan on shoreline of Lake Huron. At 108 feet, it is the tallest lighthouse tower accessible by the public on the Great Lakes. The light station complex has a township park with playground, picnic area, pavilion, and nature trails. Admission is free, and for a nominal fee, you can climb up the 130 steps to the top of the tower for a spectacular view.
We also show the Old Presque Isle Lightouse, however it is not open to the public at this time.
The buildings and grounds are open to the public daily from 10am-6pm mid May through mid-October. For more information on visiting the New Presque Isle Lighthouse see

Mysterious shadow in the cellar at Old Presque Isle Lighthouse USA
In the top right video of the split screen, you can see a shadow appear from the fan (bottom right) about half way through the footage, the shadow quickly disappears back again.......the only person in the area at the time was a Local Resident, he can be seen on the left hand side, the only light source was from the infra red around the camera lens!
This is what the Local Resident had to say on our findings:
It was amazing you were able to capture something on film. As I recollect, I was the only one in that area, two other people were on the other side of the room, completely away from that location. There would not have been any thing or any person that would have caused a distortion of light that I could see

The three masted schooner Typo built at Milwaukee in 1873, sank six miles east-southeast of Presque Isle light. The wreck sits upright and intact in 163 feet of water.

Presque Isle Community begins journey to restore Old Presque Isle Lighthouse
Presque Isle --- The Old Lighthouse is in need of restoration and, the community of Presque Isle reaffirmed that on Tuesday morning by launching the Presque Isle Township Lighthouses Restoration Fund.
Karen Pettalia, wife of the late former State Representative Peter Pettalia, made the inaugural donation of $15,000 from the Honorable Peter Pettalia Lighthouse Memorial Fund that was made when the former state representative passed away. The check was presented to the Community Foundation For Northeast Michigan who will take on all donations for the project. The generous donation kicked off the pursuit to gather $250,000 for Phase I which will look to completely redo the structural problems facing the lighthouse.
We probably have a year and a half to two years to restore this structure before it starts getting very perilous,said President of the Presque Isle Township Museum Society Katie Wolf. I'm not sure what will happen if we don't step in very quickly.
The Township will supervise the construction and restoration since the lighthouse which falls on Township property. Presque Isle Township Museum Society will do the fundraising for the four phases.
This project will not require local tax dollars and be separate from the ballot item for tax money to be used on upkeep and restoration to the 40-Mile Point Lighthouse Park. The tourist destination also has limited accessibility to the property and bathrooms which will be the second item to focus on once the structure is secured.
To make a donation, visit the Community Foundation for Northeast Michigan website and click the Make a Gift button. You can locate the Presque Isle Township Lighthouses Restoration Fund. You can also drop off a donation at the Community Foundation or Presque Isle Township office just make sure to address the envelope to the Presque Isle Township Lighthouses Restoration Fund.
