Two people were hurt after violence erupted in the mall's food court. By midnight, there was still no word of any arrests. CBS2's Valerie Castro reports.

Jersey City is the second most populous city in the U.S. state of New Jersey, after Newark. It is the seat of Hudson County as well as the county's largest city. As of 2018, the Census Bureau's Population Estimates Program calculated that Jersey City's population was 265,549, with the largest population increase of any municipality in New Jersey since 2010, an increase of about 9.4% from the 2010 United States Census, when the city's population was at 247,597, ranking the city the 78th-most-populous in the nation.
Part of the New York metropolitan area, Jersey City is bounded on the east by the Hudson River and Upper New York Bay and on the west by the Hackensack River and Newark Bay. A port of entry, with 30.7 miles (49.4 km) of waterfront[34] and extensive rail infrastructure and connectivity, the city is an important transportation terminus and distribution and manufacturing center for the Port of New York and New Jersey. Jersey City shares significant mass transit connections with Manhattan. Redevelopment of the Jersey City waterfront has made the city one of the largest centers of banking and finance in the United States and has led to the district being nicknamed Wall Street West.
After a peak population of 316,715 measured in the 1930 Census, the city's population saw a half-century-long decline to a nadir of 223,532 in the 1980 Census. Since then, the city's population has rebounded, with the 2010 population reflecting an increase of 7,542 (+3.1%) from the 240,055 counted in the 2000 Census, which had in turn increased by 11,518 (+5.0%) from the 228,537 counted in the 1990 Census.

Welcome to the Newport section of Jersey City, NJ!! Newport is a community in Downtown Jersey City. This video starts in the northwest corner of Newport heading southeast. When people hear Newport, a lot of people think that Newport refer to the mall. The mall is called Newport Mall because is located in the Newport Section.
As you can see in the map in the beginning, Newport is from 18th St to 6th St, from Marin Blvd to the Hudson River. Is a 600-acre mixed-use community consisting of retail, office, residential, and entertainment facilities. It has a lot of parks, skyscrapers, restaurants, plazas, hotels, and more. The development is ongoing, since, as you can see in this video, there are a lot of construction equipments, and a tower under construction, as well as, a crane at the beginning of this video. It also have a light rail station and a PATH station. (Downtown, Jersey City have several light rail stations, but one specifically in the Newport section). Unfortunately, I didn't record any train, because by coincidence, there was no train passing when I record by the train overpasses and the station, since it was not rush hour. (There are trains passing almost the whole day,, from 5 am to almost midnight)

Schindler Traction Elevators @ the Westin / Newport Centre Parking Deck in Jersey City, NJ
This is the parking deck across from Macy*s, if you're curious. Some guy was standing on a staircase near the machine room, saw me, asked what I was doing, then headed for me. He looked like he was going to mug me, so I gave up on the left elevator (the right one refused to move anyways) and RAN into Macy*s. He was not mall security or anything for sure.
