Suluk46 presents, On The Trail, a series of informative videos related to ultralight backpacking products, techniques, trips, and tutorials. Episode #39, hosted by Steve Evans, is a video summary of a trio biking from Niagara On The Lake, to Niagara Falls along the Niagara River Recreation Trail.
Cycling the Niagara Parkway
A bicycle ride along the Niagara River Recreational Trail from Queenston Heights to Niagara on the Lake with stops for wine tasting, a picnic, some shopping and some history.
Along the way we stop at several wineries, including Ravine, Riverview, Peller, Inniskillin and Lailey. We also stop at Cows in Niagara on the Lake for ice cream and provide some dinner recommendations.

Cycling Niagara-On-The-Lake
The peaceful Queenston Heights Park is located high atop the Niagara Escarpment, greeting visitors with exquisite gardens and vegetation. This park, filled with rich history, is a sanctuary for outdoor lovers and nature enthusiasts. It has been and it continues to be used by hikers, those with a passion for gardens and nature, as well as picnickers, runners and walkers.
This park was the site of the famous Battle of Queenston Heights in October of 1812, when Sir Isaac Brock fell while planning a charge on the American Forces. Commemorating the roles of both Laura Secord and Sir Isaac Brock in the War of 1812 are two memorials in this landscaped park on the Niagara Escarpment.
The Park has spectacular views of the lower Niagara River, Lake Ontario, and, on a clear day, the Toronto skyline in the distance. Parks Canada oversees the operation of Brock's Monument and also has a walking tour of the historic sites associated with this important battleground.

Perfect hike along the Niagara River!! // Canada
We went to Canada!!
We took a long weekend and went to Niagara Falls with some of our best friends! We stayed in an AirBNB in Canada and absolutely loved it.
We hiked the Upper Whirlpool Trail and it was beautiful. All the leaves were changed to those fall colors we all love, and the river was massive. This is just one small part of all the fun we had over the weekend! This has definitely been one of our favorite adventures.
Happy Adventuring,
Jake & Sam

Niagara Bicycle Trail from Fort Erie, Ontario to Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada
On February 9, 2016 I rode my bike approximately 35 miles (or close to 60K) from Fort Erie Ontario, Canada (just under the Rainbow Bridge to the USA) to Niagara Falls Ontario. On the way I passed numerous historic areas, and very nice houses overlooking the Niagara River. As I approached the falls, the trail went right over parts of the river, providing excellent views of the upper and lower rapids approaching Niagara Falls, before entering the City of Niagara Falls, Ontario Canada, and passing by the Falls itself.

There is a beautiful trail that goes from Niagara on the Lake to Niagara Falls.
We packed lunch and enjoyed the views a lot!

Niagara-on-the-Lake to Niagara Falls via the Niagara Parkway bike path system
I made this as a scouting report to those people who want to know the condition of the paths, trails and roads on this (roughly 25km segment) route.
This is our first leg of an 80 km loop from Niagara-on-the-Lake south on Niagara Parkway to Niagara Falls, west to Welland, north to Port Weller along Welland Canal parkway, east back to Niagara-on-the-Lake. Both bicke path parwkays are paved and well kept up and have good signage. The trick is the east-west routes on the roads. Smart move is to take Lyons Creek Road (#47), which becomes Biggar Rd. Then use Allanport (#82) for north-south to cross the canal at Allanburg and get back on the paved parkway. Out of Port Weller, as of 2014, use Lakeshore BUT ONLY to East and West Line Road. Don't take the curve north, because Lakshore Road from that point into town is bumpy and patchy and potholey etc. (we made that mistake). I'd take East West Line and then #55 Niagara Stone Road from into town.
The Riverside tavern (43.0597437,-79.0513439) is a great place for cyclists to stop for a bite.

Niagara River Trail, downstream from Niagara Falls
Niagara Falls Canada lDec 2016. Walk between large boulders and views of the mighty Niagara down river from the Falls. I had to carry my dog Shiloh down the 4 flight of stairs and up, good workout. Only dog I know that responds to the word 'photoshoot' at 4:04. Chalk marks on the boulders are from the active rock climbing community.

A little weekend getaway to Niagara-on-the-Lake!
On The Trail - Greater Niagara Circle Route
The Greater Niagara Circle Route Trails System is over 140 km of mostly off-road, paved trails suitable for walking, cycling or rollerblading. Motorized vehicles are not permitted. The paved trail is mostly 3 metres wide and passes through urban centres, downtowns, the Niagara Escarpment, waterfronts, and rural/agricultural areas.
The system includes the Welland Canals Trail which passes alongside parts of the existing and previous canals from St. Catharines on Lake Ontario (north end) through Thorold and Welland to Port Colborne on Lake Erie (south end). The Friendship Trail goes between Port Colborne and Fort Erie (east end). From Fort Erie the Niagara River Recreation Trail follows the Niagara River, through the city of Niagara Falls, to Niagara-on-the-Lake (north end). The Waterfront Trail follows Lakeshore Road from Niagara-on-the-Lake to St. Catharines (west end). Trail mileage markers are on the trail around the circle starting at Old Fort Erie (km. 0) and proceeding in a counter-clockwise direction.
