We've spend a collective 6 months or so in Chiang Mai and have seen a lot of markets, but this is our first visit to the best market in town - night bazaar. Food a plenty, lots of shopping as well and of course no Chiang Mai trip is complete with out some beer.
This past Sunday night we started walking about 5.30pm and by 9pm we'd seen a lot of the markets! We share all the market costs and try and showcase as much of the night bazaar as possible - hope you enjoy this travel vlog!

Chiang Mai Nightlife Tour & Night Bazaar Dezember 2017 THAILAND
Chiang Mai is not only shoppers paradise, and nothing beats shopping for a bargain more than in in the famous Night and Food Market. Around the Nightmarket you can found good Restaurands, street food, some Bars, Cabarets and Massage places.
Even if you do not want to buy anything just going for a stroll up and down the Night Bazaar is an amazing experience. The place is alive with brightly coloured lights, music, the sounds of tourists bargaining for goods and the aromatic smells as you pass by a hot food vendor.
Remember to bargain for your purchases, it is expected of you and is all part of the fun. Bargaining is almost a national sport in Thailand.

EATING at the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar
Location: Chiang Mai Night Bazaar - Chiang Mai, Thailand
After being in Chiang Mai for a week and checking out both the Saturday Night Market and the Sunday night market, it was time for us the visit the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar.
To be completely honest the Chiang Mai Night Bazaar was a little underwhelming compared to the other markets we had been to in Chiang Mai. However, we were still able to find some fun foods to eat.
The best thing about the night bazaar is that it's open every night. If you aren't in Chiang Mai on the weekend. This will be your only opportunity for visiting a night market.

We were visiting Chiang Mai for one day before heading to do Mae Hong Son Loop. Obviously we couldn't miss Chiang Mai night market. There are few of them around one place - best place to eat in night market is Food Court Night Bazaar, Kalare Night Bazaar, The Night Bazaar Place.
The food was so delicious and night market was pretty cool even though we didn't buy anything.

We show you around the best market in Chiang Mai, Thailand: The Sunday night market & walking street. This market is 1.2 KM long where you can buy local goods produced here in Chiang Mai Thailand and sample a huge variety of Thai street food. This is by far the best night market in Chiang Mai. Watch and see why.
One of our favorite things to do while traveling, particularly in Thailand, is to visit a night market. Here at the Chiang Mai Sunday night market, also referred to as the Chiang Mai walking street, you can eat local Thai street food, shop for handmade clothing, and barter for a bargain. Markets are notoriously known to have some of the most unique shopping in Chiang Mai, and this one is by far the best.
The incredible and distinguishing factor of the Sunday night market Chiang Mai is the atmosphere. The market is located in the old city of Chiang Mai Thailand which is surrounded by beautiful buddhist temples and 14th century buildings. You will find most of the Thai street food at the Sunday night market & walking street located on different temple grounds. Is there a better way to enjoy local Thailand cuisine while gazing up at a beautifully ornate buddhist temple? That’s what we call food with a view!
This Chiang Mai market doesn’t get called the best market in Chiang Mai for nothing. The city completely shuts down Ratchadamneon Road for 1.2 Kilometers, so if you plan to visit you better bring your walking shoes! One of the best things about night markets in Thailand is that they stay open late. The night market in Chiang Mai is open each sunday from roughly 5pm - midnight so you will have the chance to see almost every vendor and fulfill your shopping needs. Speaking of shopping in Chiang Mai, don’t forget to test out your haggling skills with is acceptable at all night markets in Chiang Mai. Stacia is absolutely terrible at haggling, but to be fair she was up against a really stern Thai woman who wasn’t going to budge on the price of her dress. Ryan on the other hand is a great haggler even though we left the market empty handed.

One of the top things to do in Chiang Mai is walk around and eat through one of the many Chiang Mai night markets - I think Chiang Mai might be the capital of night markets in the world. There’s a night market for every day of the week and some of them stretch longer than you can see.
At night markets in Chiang Mai you’ll find a huge selection of things to buy, from clothes and antiques to even entertainment like music and Thai massage. But for food lovers, the best thing about visiting any Thai night market is the food.
On Sunday night in Chiang Mai the most popular night market is Tha Pae Walking Street (ตลาดท่าแพ) - it really is an entire street that shuts down for a couple of kilometers, and the entire street is filled with things to look at, buy, and eat. Most of the food is set up in designated area, especially in the small courtyards of temples.
In this Thai street food tour of Chiang Mai, the plan was just to walk around and see what looked good to eat.
Here’s what we ate:
Sai krok Isaan (ไส้กรอกอีสาน), Sai ua (ไส้อั่ว) - This impressive cart was filled with different varieties of Thai sausage, both Isaan style sausage, and Northern Thai herb sausage.
Total price - 30 THB ($0.91)
Pork meatballs (ลูกชิ้นหมู) - I’m usually not a huge fan, but these 100% pork meatballs were pretty tasty.
Price - 40 THB ($1.21)
Pork ham (หมูยอ) - After meeting up with my friends Tom, Joel, and JJ, they had already been snacking on some moo yaw, a Vietnamese style ham sausage.
Grilled egg (ไข่ป่าม) - This is a unique Northern Thai food, of grilled egg.
Price - 30 THB ($0.91)
Sticky rice (ข้าวหนุกงา) - One of the Thai snacks I had never tried before were sticky rice patties. They were interesting and quite tasty.
Price - 20 THB ($0.61)
Pork ribs (ซี่โครงหมู), Crab egg custard (อ่องปู) - We saw the ribs being grilled and couldn't’t resist. They were alright, but the paddy crab egg custard was more unique.
Price - 180 THB ($5.46)
Durian (ทุเรียน) - Finally, although a little overpriced, and not season, we couldn’t resist a little nugget of durian to end this Chiang Mai night market Thai food tour.

The Chiang Mai Night Bazaar market is probably the largest and one of the most well-known markets in northern Thailand.
If you're looking to do some shopping whilst you are in Chiang Mai, it is an absolute must see.
With a massive variety of stalls, you can find almost anything here.
There's restaurants, shows, live music and a lot more.
Touring this market will likely take a full evening.

Ever since since we arrived in Thailand we have heard rumors of a fruit that stinks so bad that even the fruits mother doesn't claim it. We have roamed bleary eyed on buses, trains, and planes and we have seen the signs that say No Durian Fruit Allowed. We have wondered at the spiky green exterior and imagined the potential horror held inside. How can people eat a fruit that stinks so bad that it is banned from many public places.
We have seen Durian at every market we have been to but we never really felt up to the challenge.......until now. We bought the smallest piece of the fruit we could find. It smelled like sulfur, sadness, and revenge mixed with gym socks and banana. Watch to find out what we thought about this insanely popular fruit. We also try rolled ice cream, shop the local wares, and Marisa gets a new skirt. But wow, that Durian, it was so divisive.

When we found out that our hotel was right next to Chiang Mai's walking street (Tha Pae walking street) and there was a Sunday Night Market, we couldn't wait to get stuck in a try some Thai food! But nothing prepared us for the biggest and best night market in Chiang Mai, Thailand! There were stalls and Thai street food for as far as the eye can see!
The Chiang Mai Sunday Night Market is the best night market we have ever visited on our travels. This is definitely one of the best things to do in Chiang Mai!
