Boston Public Garden Swan Boat
Boston Public Garden
The Public Garden was established in 1837 when philanthropist Horace Gray[4] petitioned for the use of land as the first public botanical garden in the United States. Grey helped marshal political resistance to a number of Boston City Council attempts to sell the land in question, finally settling the issue of devoting it to the Public Garden in 1856.[5] The Act establishing use of the land was submitted to the voters on 26 April 1856 where it passed with only 99 dissents. The Swan Boats are a fleet of dual-pontooned pleasure boats which operate in a pond in the Public Garden in Boston, Massachusetts. The Swan Boats have been in operation since 1877, and have since become a cultural icon for the city. They operate beginning the second weekend of April and ending the third weekend in September.[1] Robert Paget first created the Swan Boats in the Public Garden in 1877 after operating a Row Boat rental operation, after seeing the opera Lohengrin with his wife Julia Paget. Inspired by the Knight's gallant rescue of the damsel by riding a Swan across the lake, Paget decided to capitalize on the recent popularity of the bicycle and combine boat with swan and bicycle on the water, and designed a two pontooned boat with two wooden benches and a brass seat on top of a paddlebox concealed by a swan. The driver would sit inside the swan and pedal passengers around the pond.Boston (pronounced Listeni/ˈbɒstən/) is the capital and largest city[10] of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts in the United States. Boston also serves as county seat of Suffolk County. The largest city in New England, the city proper, covering 48 square miles (124 km2), had an estimated population of 645,966 in 2014,[11] making it the 24th largest city in the United States.[4] The city is the anchor of a substantially larger metropolitan area called Greater Boston, home to 4.5 million people and the tenth-largest metropolitan area in the country.[7] Greater Boston as a commuting region[12] is home to 7.6 million people, making it the sixth-largest Combined Statistical Area in the United States
Las Vegas is the most populous city in the U.S. state of Nevada and the county seat of Clark County.[5] Las Vegas is an internationally renowned major resort city known primarily for gambling, shopping, fine dining, and nightlife and is the leading financial and cultural center for Southern Nevada. The city bills itself as The Entertainment Capital of the World, and is famous for its consolidated casino--hotels and associated entertainment. A growing retirement and family city, Las Vegas is the 31st-most populous city in the United States, with a population at the 2010 census of 583,756. The 2010 population of the Las Vegas metropolitan area was 1,951,269. Today, Las Vegas is one of the top tourist destinations in the world.
The major attractions in Las Vegas are the casinos and the hotels. Most of the hotel casinos are in the city's downtown area, which has been the focal point of the city's gaming industry since its early days.
Most casinos are downtown on the Fremont Street Experience, The Stratosphere being the major exception. Fremont East, adjacent to the Fremont Street Experience, was granted variances to allow bars to be closer together, similar to the Gaslamp Quarter of San Diego, the goal being to attract a different demographic than the Strip attracts.
Las Vegas got its start with casinos in 1931 with the opening of the Northern Club (now the La Bayou).[31][32] The most notable of the early casinos may have been Binion's Horseshoe (now Binion's Gambling Hall and Hotel) while it was run by Benny Binion. Boyd Gaming has a major presence downtown operating the California Hotel and Casino, Fremont Hotel and Casino and the Main Street Casino. The Golden Gate Hotel and Casino is the oldest hotel in the Fremont Street Experience. The Golden Nugget is the largest hotel and casino in the city. The Plaza Hotel & Casino on Main Street was the railway station until Amtrak discontinued service. Other casinos include the El Cortez, The D, Four Queens, Gold Spike Hotel and Casino and the Las Vegas Club.
The gambling and entertainment industry in Las Vegas is mostly focused in the Las Vegas Strip. The Strip is not actually located in city limits, but instead in the surrounding unincorporated communities of Paradise and Winchester. The largest and most notable casinos and buildings are located there.

Canada, The Thousand Islands Cruise - U.S.A. & Canada ep23 - Travel video vlog calatorii tourism
The Thousand Islands constitute an archipelago of 1,864 islands that straddles the Canada–US border in the Saint Lawrence River as it emerges from the northeast corner of Lake Ontario. They stretch for about 50 miles (80 km) downstream from Kingston, Ontario. The Canadian islands are in the province of Ontario and the U.S. islands in the state of New York.
The islands range in size from over 40 square miles (100 km2) to smaller islands occupied by a single residence, or uninhabited outcroppings of rocks. To count as one of the Thousand Islands, emergent land within the river channel must have at least one square foot (0.093 m2) of land above water level year-round, and support at least two living trees.

Northwest Passages 2016 Part I
In August 2016 the Stewart/Borosdy Adventure Team embarked on trip to explore the San Juan and Gulf Islands of the Pacific Northwest. Aboard Far C’r, our 22’ C-Dory, and Vega, Bernie and Marilyn’s 25’ C-Dory we spent a fantastic month enjoying the finest of weather. During this adventure I was able to use my cameras to time lapse the whole cruise. I hope the viewer enjoys the ride.
In Part 1 we leave Los Angeles towing Far C’r and travel through the state of California, Oregon, and Washington to arrive in Anacortes where we pick up Vega. Launching at Skyline Marina we spend the first night at Blind Bay on the North side of Shaw Island. The next morning the weather report is calling for strong winds and possible rain so we decide to head to Friday Harbor and wait on the weather for 2 nights. Since we plan to head for the Canadian Gulf Islands in a few days we then head of to Roche Harbor on our way to Stuart Island.
