Nisqually River - Near Mount Rainier, WA
Took a look at the amazing scenery at the Nisqually Riverbed just 12 miles from the big volcano itself.
Mount Rainier is the highest mountain of the Cascade Range in the Pacific Northwest, and the highest mountain in the U.S. state of Washington. It is a large active stratovolcano located 54 miles (87 km) south-southeast of Seattle, in the Mount Rainier National Park.
So given the above information, you can understand just how astonishing it is for a mountain of this size to be able to hide as well as it does. Anyway, even without the volcano to steal the show, I sincerely hope you like the video.

2012 - Mount Rainier National Park, Washington, USA
After visiting Mount Saint Helen's, I traveled north to Mount Rainier National Park in Washington state and spent two days hiking the base of the mountain at the foot of the glacier. Days prior, a nice couple told me of a lake that had the reflection of the mountain in the background. Although the park rangers told me that the trails leading to the lake was buried by snow and in some cases 10 feet of snow, I decided to do the hike anyways to see if I could reach Mirror Lake. After much hiking and a long day of vertical climbing, I finally reached my destination. Wow, it was worth it...I loved this park and will surely visit it once again...

Puget Sound /ˈpjuːdʒɪt/ is a sound along the northwestern coast of the U.S. state of Washington, an inlet of the Pacific Ocean, and part of the Salish Sea. It is a complex estuarine[3] system of interconnected marine waterways and basins, with one major and two minor connections to the open Pacific Ocean via the Strait of Juan de Fuca—Admiralty Inlet being the major connection and Deception Pass and Swinomish Channel being the minor.
Water flow through Deception Pass is approximately equal to 2% of the total tidal exchange between Puget Sound and the Strait of Juan de Fuca.[1] Puget Sound extends approximately 100 miles (160 km) from Deception Pass in the north to Olympia, Washington in the south. Its average depth is 450 feet (140 m)[4] and its maximum depth, off Jefferson Point between Indianola and Kingston, is 930 feet (280 m). The depth of the main basin, between the southern tip of Whidbey Island and Tacoma, Washington, is approximately 600 feet (180 m)tourism,

Roughly 80,000 residents living around Mt. Rainier do not realize that they reside in the path of one of the world's most destructive stratovolcanoes.
Depending upon wind patterns and point of eruption ash fall and acid rain may envelop large areas surrounding the mountain as well as debris and rock fall. Flooding would instantly ensue as the magma beneath Rainier would rapidly melt the year-round glaciers that lay just over 14,000 feet high. Massive lahars would reach upwards of 100 MPH collecting and destroying everything in its path through the valleys in which highways and tens of thousands of homes lie.
Debris, landslides, and rock fall are expected to hit within the immediate Mt Rainier National Park area. However, ash fall and acid rain may extend quite a few miles outwards surrounding the volcano. As for flooding; magma would be forced upwards instantly melting the glaciers and significantly increasing water height within the Nisqually River, Puyallup River, White River, Carbon River, and the Cowlitz River. The lahars from the glacier melt and debris would be the most deadly hazard to the surrounding occupants as they would easily maneuver throughout the valleys where previous lahars settled from Rainier's last eruption over a century ago. The destruction from the lahars would travel south towards Randle and Packwood, West towards Buckley, Puyallup, and Tacoma and as far North as Federal Way and Auburn. Although the sight of magma is unlikely, post-lahars sedimentation could reach as far North as Kent, Renton, and Seattle.
An eruption may not be expected anytime soon but investigative research is helping to understand and better pinpoint an electromagnetic connection between space weather events and volcanic eruptions. Independent researchers, both locally and globally, are continuously studying and monitoring the effects caused by celestial bodies here on Earth. However, a mysterious question still remains: Why are Washington State representatives legislating for Martial Law Powers under the guise of Continuity of Government? A program designed during the Cold War years that gave the Federal Government Martial Law Powers in the event of a Nuclear Attack is now under legislation to be changed to 'any emergency, disaster, or attack.' Why might some within the Washington State Government want to vastly expand Continuity of Government powers by amending the State Constitution? What do they know that we don't?

Mountain Moment: Grove
The limited scope of a camera cannot really capture the scale of the behemoths found in the Grove of the Patriarchs. Instead, only fragments of the thousand-year-old Douglas fir and western red cedar trees that make up the Grove are glimpsed in this Mountain Moment. The trailhead for the Grove of the Patriarchs is located just past the east entrance of Stevens Canyon Road. The trail is an easy 1.3 mile loop. Filmed on September 10, 2013.

Road to Paradise, Mount Rainier National Park
Paradise, Washington is the most heavily visited area in Mount Rainier National Park. Excellent long and short hikes begin here. It is 5,400 feet up the south slope of Mount Rainier and one of the snowiest places on earth. I drove to Paradise on June 6, 2012, the road from the Nisqually park entrance was clear of snow and the scenery was awesome. Road conditions in the park may be checked at the national park service website:
