Nizhny Novgorod stopover en route to Moscow - Worth getting off train to visit Kremlin & sights ??
Russian long distance trains pass thru Nizhny Novgorod on route to Kazan and the east. To break the journey from Kazan to Moscow I stopped over for a few hours to explore the sights. The city has a nice metro, main pedestrian boulevard, and it's own Kremlin, as well as a Mosque and a waterfront staircase. Is it worth getting off the long distance train to explore? I'll let you check out the sights and decide for yourself.

The streets are all over the people due to phosphorus. Where do you go with the flag in your hand? I wondered as I followed the procession. There are also ladies who have dressed up from small soldiers dressed in military uniforms to colorful flowers. Today is the tradition anniversary of May 9th. We celebrated the 73rd anniversary of the year 2018. We are patriots. See how many people are here. I am very proud of how many people there are from there to the other side. It is not only Russia but also the whole world anniversary. The war is gone. Russia, as well as the entire world, fought for freedom. It is the day when all nations have found their freedom. The anniversary is Russia's biggest anniversary, Besides the joy of winning Germany and winning in World War II, there is a desire for peace that hopes that war will not happen again. At the same time, it shows a strong Russian status, a place for unity and solidarity of the people, and a high pride of Russia. The highlight of the tradition anniversary event is the citizens' march. There seems to be more people involved in the march than the victim's family, acquaintances, friends and neighbors. This endless procession, led by the citizens and commemorating the victims, feels beautiful. Citizens' march is loosened. Although I do not have any photographs or flags, I took a camera and joined them in the parade. Festivals enjoyed by all citizens - tradition anniversary. It seemed to be Russian way to overcome the terrible pain of war. This is my uncle. I was a teacher. Kislovka was an athletic teacher in the village. He was born in 1918 and died during the war in 1944. At a young age of 26. During the march, I found Oriental people like myself. It turns out that it is called 'Koryoin' who fought against Germans in World War II. Now, 70 years later, they were celebrating the sacrifices of Koreans in faraway foreign lands. I wanted to thank you. It is those who helped us. I'll remember these guys. I'm Kim Ilya. This is my ex-grandfather, who worked in factories at the time of the war and engaged in wars. May 9th is a great anniversary. However, I am sad when I think about how many people have died for this victory. It feels closer to Russia with the anniversary of Russia's anniversary with the Goryeo descendants.

Nizhny Novgorod is a stopover place for the Siberian Herald. It is now full of vitality as an economic city developed by heavy industries such as automobiles and ships. And this is the home of the world's largest gates, 'Maxim Goriki'. Before 1990, I can guess the affection for Goriki because the city name was Goriki at all. He was a young man who took his parents early in life and became the pride of Russia by leaving Socialist Realism Literature for the people who are persecuted and suffering from poverty. Maxim Goriki lacked academic skills, but his talent made him a world-renowned writer. So young people, especially the young people here, should read the works of Goriki.

A picturesque house in nature, this is a weekend farm and cottage with a house called 'Dacha' and a garden. About 70% of Russian urban people own multi-cars, and I was very excited to be invited to this place, which is one of the richest riches in Russia with a swimming pool. This is a Russian house. I'm going to rest here and make a shashly (a traditional Russian skewer). The owner enjoys relaxing here with his children and friends. The Russians live like this: An ornate car that reveals the majesty of a mansion made of logs! Oh, this is shampoo. It 's a sword used to make skewer chalcedony. And here is a stone fireplace. The Russians love the fireplace so much rest here. Without this stone fireplace, it's not a Russian house. I like collecting Russians, I keep the gun used in the war. Very large studded car with four rooms on the second floor only! In Russia, which loves multi-car, it is said that multi-car diplomacy and multi-politics have become commonplace and culture. It has a private walkway that allows you to enjoy the mysterious landscapes. From a very long time ago, there was a villa culture called 'Dhaka'. The Russians originally lived in the huts, so they were all huts. So, Russians like trees and their little haven. From there, this culture is very much like me. In the late 1970s, Russia had to distribute 600 square meters of land to the people free of charge, and it became deeply rooted in the lives of Russians...

RUSSIA: YELTSIN INSISTS ALL BUREAUCRATS GET RID OF FOREIGN MADE CARS
Russian/Eng/Nat
Life for many official Russians and their drivers might soon be taking a dramatic turn.
Newly appointed First Deputy Prime Minister, Boris Nemtsov recently announced that all officials should ride in Russian models and not in fancy foreign-made cars.
When the new controversial edict comes into effect -- it is sure to rev the engines of many Russian bureaucrats.
In a move that ruffled the feathers of many Russian politicians -- President Yeltsin ordered all bureaucrats to get rid of their precious fancy foreign-made cars.
Instead of these luxurious Audis and Volvos, the Duma parking lot will be grooming with the pride of Russian automobile production.
The man who whispered the idea to the Kremlin leader is no one else but new - deputy Prime Minister Boris Nemtsov.
The former governor of Nizhny Novgorod has lobbied hard for the decree -- which would boost the image and production of his Volga factory located in Nizhny Novgorod.
SOUNDBITE: (Russian)
With the first of April, it will be forbidden to buy foreign-made cars and connected to this all those who are now driving foreign models will have to auction them off and with that money buy a Russian-made vehicle.
SUPER CAPTION: First Deputy Prime Minister, Boris Nemtsov
It is certainly a hard blow -- most of Russia's politicians drive Mercedes, Audi's or Volvos.
Rare are those in the upper echelons of power cruising about Moscow in a proletarian Volga or Zhiguli Sedan.
Even the man himself -- Russian President Boris Yeltsin -- races around town in a line of black Mercedes.
But that's all set to change.
Yeltsin, by his own decree, is going to have to ride to work in the Russian-made Zil limousine his predecessors were so proud of.
His aides and bodyguards will be forced to follow in Volga Sedans.
Supporting Russian industry might be a good idea, but the problem is Russian cars are not competitive they are poorly made and extremely expensive.
SOUNDBITE: (Russian)
Russian-made cars like the Volgas or other models, they are just not competitive, they can't compete in the market for price or quality. You know in the end more money can be spent on repairing these cars than on just buying a quality foreign car to begin with.
SUPER CAPTION: Konstantin Borovik, Volvo salesman in Moscow
Volgas and Zhiguli are notorious for breaking-down.
Those who own them spend most of their time on the side of the road trying to get them started.
Despite high protectionist taxes levied on imports - some reaching 90 percent of the car's value- capitalistic cars are extremely popular in the ex- Soviet empire.
Russian consumers prefer to buy quality imports.
They feel that even with high tariffs they save precious money and time on repairs.
Strangely enough, the decree managed to anger even the communists usually strongly in favour of local products.
They think its just a smoke screen for dealing with the myriad of real problems Russia faces.
With millions owed back wages and the economy in ruins, many feel that this new edict against foreign cars is petty and nationalistic.
SOUNDBITE: (English)
Its just an anecdote, just a joke because if they did the first step then the second has to be that the new Russians have to cancel to buy all foreign consumer goods and food products and all the prostitutes who are staying here in front of Duma must use the condoms only from the Russian producer and etc., etc., etc.
SUPER CAPTION: Vladimir Semago, millionaire and communist Duma Deputy
In fact the decree could end up costing taxpayers dearly.
The Volga Sedans that politicians will be forced to drive can cost up to 57-thousand dollars.

Mosques in Russia - Kul Sharif Mosque Kazan Tatarstan - Stunning Middle Age icon in heart of Kremlin
The amazing Kul Sharif Mosque is the most iconic symbol of Kazan, Russia's third city and emerging tourist destination. This has long been an ambition of mine to visit after seeing it many years ago on Euronews. The original Mosque stood from the Middle Ages and was recently rebuilt. There is a viewing gallery for visitors and a Museum of Islam below.
