Visiting a Rural Village near Hanoi, Vietnam 4K with Gate 1 Travel.
Visited a rural Village near Hanoi with Gate 1 Travel September 30, 2016. We interacted with children returning home from school, toured a rice noodle company, observed local elderly women with their teeth stained black, and visited the village temple to honor ancestors, and hear a talk from a man who served for North Vietnam during the Vietnam war.

Tho Ha Village at 40km from Hanoi
Tho Ha is a small typical village in Red River Delta, Northern Vietnam
Tho Ha Village is on a narrow peninsula located in the middle of the Cau River. The communal house dated since 17th century is the place for village festivals, old people meetings and children playing. The village was famous for producing terracotta and faience. Now Tho Ha Village is known by its rice paper work. Spend your time to discover the local daily life by visiting Mr.Viet’s home and interacting with the family. The tour to Tho Ha Village to be combined with Halong Bay and other nearby sightseeing points.

Hanoi Street Food Tour in Vietnam
It was a fantastic experience to see & eat like a Hanoian with Hanoi Street Food Tour in Vietnam. We were three in a group with Guide Sunny and had complete fun while trying many Vietnamese street foods for the first time in Hanoi. It was more than three hours tour by walking in the famous Hanoi Old Quarter.
On the way, we also enjoyed the remarkable beauty of Hoan Kiem Lake. Hanoi Old Quarter is a popular street and full with many local restaurants, cafe, shops, and hostels. You can enjoy budget travel here. I spent just 25 USD (price varies) for the whole tour. I had seven types of Hanoi street food, and fun was unlimited.
Our Guide Sunny was very cooperative and friendly. At the end of the tour, she helped me to drop at My Moon Hotel by motorbike.
Here is the list of seven local restaurants where we tried many tasty (Ngon) top street food of Hanoi. If you’re vegetarian, no worries, you can have all the veggie food options for you. I had the same and some of my favorites were Banh My, Nem, Kem Xoi, and Papaya salad with peanut.
1. Bun Cha Ta
21 Nguyễn Hữu Huân
Here we had Bún Chả (Grilled pork rice noodles). This top popular street food served with grilled Chả (pork), Bún (Rice noodles), fresh herbs and dipping sauce. Instead of pork, I took veggie spring rolls.
2. Hanoi Egg Coffee
10 Hàng Muối
First, we had Apple water and the taste was bitter. I loved the Egg coffee here which locally known as Cà Phê Trứng and had with Bánh Mỳ (Sandwich).
3. Nom Thit Bo Kho Restaurant
23 Hồ Hoàn Kiếm
Nộm Bò Khô ( Dried beef salad) is a must-try here. I liked to have Papaya salad and also enjoyed to see the process of this popular street food in Hanoi.
4. Bánh Cuốn Nống
14B Báo Khánh
Do you love a pancake? It was interesting to see the processing of Bánh Cuốn (Steamed rice pancake). Each pancake is so thin and made with rice sheets. The taste of rice pancake with the Kumquat flavor dipping sauce is mouthwatering.
5. Apron Up Restaurant
66 Bát Sứ
Apron Up offers traditional Vietnamese food and cooking class as well. We had Miến Xào (Glass noodles).
6. Viet Spring Rolls
65A Bát Ðàn Street
I love Vietnamese Nem (Spring rolls). If you don't take meat, you can always have veggie spring rolls with fried onions and sauces.
7. Chè Dung
95 Hàng Bạc
Last we had Vietnamese dessert, Kem Xôi. It served with sticky rice and coconut flavored ice cream. The fresh and sweet taste of this yummy Hanoi street food is a must-try for local food lovers around.
Furthermore, You may also like to try the taste of the local beer of Hanoi. So, Một Hai Ba Zô (Cheers) to all :)

VIETNAM STREET FOOD IN HANOI OLD QUARTER
Location 1 of this video:
Cong Caphe
27 Nha Tho, Hang Trong, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi Vietnam
This is our 2nd time visiting Cong Caphe and it never fails to satisfy our thirst for coffee. And we will keep coming back if ever we can visit Hanoi again. You can try their basic coffee and Cong signatures.
Location 2 of this video:
Bun Cha Dac Kim
1 Hang Manh Street, Hang Gai, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi Vietnam
The best Bun Cha is in Hanoi and it's in Bun Cha Dac Kim. This place is always crowded and the serving is quite many. The taste is so good one visit will never be enough.
Location 3 of this video:
Nom Thit Bo Kho (Long Vi Dung)
23 Ho Hoan Kiem, Hanoi Vietnam
Another crowded place with very jolly and friendly staffs. The food taste are just okay a bit bland for us except for dumplings, really tasty and savoury. However, I didn’t have the chance to film the dumpling part but it is highly recommended.
Location 4 of this video:
Banh Cuon Nong Cuan An
27 Hang Dieu, Hang Bo, Quan Hoan Kiem, Hanoi Vietnam
The lady rollers with a serious and at the same time smiley face. This store only sells 2 dish in its menu. Taste is okay for a very cheap and big portion of rolled rice sheets or rice cakes with chicken and pork bits.
Location 5 of this video:
Nha Hang, Mien Luon Dong Thinh
87 Hang Dieu, Cua Dong, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi Vietnam
Very unique place using eel on their menu. We like their porridge and most especially their fried vermicelli with eel’s on it. Very comforting food during the rainy season that we are in Hanoi. This restaurant is very transparent with their use of MSG because it is shown in their cabinet visible to all customers, a huge MSG supply. No wonder their foods are so Umami (savoury). Another must try in Hanoi, Vietnam.

Exploring Duong Lam Ancient village in Hanoi
44km far from Hanoi, Duong Lam ancient village is the best choice if you are finding a peaceful place to relax after stressful days. This place is a typical ancient village famous for its well-preserved ancient houses as well as the ancient village’s characteristic symbols of the northern region in Vietnam.

We tried a good variety of local specialties including egg coffee, Bun Cha (noodles w/ grilled pork), Nom Bo Kho (dried beef salad), Mien Tron Bo (glass noodles w/ beef) and some deserts.
Everything was delicious!
