The Osage Indians lived along the Osage and Missouri Rivers
This beautiful spot in the Ozarks with its scenic hills and beautiful valleys has always attracted people down through the pages of history. Crooked Creek flows down through the middle of this territory being one of the few streams that is larger at this point than at is at its mouth where it flows into the White River. Also George's Creek and Johnnie Creek come across from the north and Greasy Creek flows in from the south. With all the crystal clear springs and rich, fertile soil along its banks, this is truly paradise

This slow moving explosive freak storm is taking its downpours and tornadoes to the East Coast. Be in high alert. This thing should be named danger because it really is so dangerous. It has wreaked havoc across widespread swaths of the United States and will continue to do so.
And the really bad news is, once is moves out to the Atlantic Ocean river flooding will begin and then on Thursday May 3rd 2017 a new storm that could be worse than this one will move into the same spots and do a lot more damage.

Stay cool.

articles on the storm
Severe storms to threaten New York to Virginia into Monday evening
Damaging thunderstorms and downpours will rip through part of the northeastern United States into Monday evening.
A press of cooler air will clash with building warmth and humidity over the mid-Atlantic and interior Northeast to start the month of May.
Residual showers and thunderstorms from the overnight and morning hours will intensify as they approach the central and southern Appalachians later in the day.
“Severe thunderstorms will develop this afternoon in western portions of New York, Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Maryland,” AccuWeather Storm Warning Meteorologist Joseph Bauer said.
The severe weather could extend as far north as southeastern Ontario, including Toronto and Ottawa.
These thunderstorms will then move eastward into the evening, surging into central and eastern Pennsylvania and central New York.
Wind gusts to 70 mph, local flash flooding and even a few tornadoes will be the concerns in this area, according to Bauer.
Tree and power-line damage is likely, along with sporadic power outages. Hail can also occur and cause further damage to buildings or cars.
“The threat will be greatest along the Interstate 79 and I-81 corridors,” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Kristina Pydynowski said.
Locally gusty thunderstorms could stretch as far south as the Carolinas, Georgia and northern Florida. Any severe weather will be fairly isolated along this corridor.
Cities at risk for the violent thunderstorms include Morgantown, West Virginia; Harrisonburg, Virginia; Pittsburgh and Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; and Buffalo, Syracuse and Binghamton, New York.
After the weekend deluge, rivers across the central United States will continue to rise and threaten homes and residents this week.
A widespread swath of 4 to 8 inches of rain has inundated communities from Oklahoma to northern Arkansas and the lower Ohio Valley from Friday to Sunday with locally higher amounts.
One of the highest rainfall totals has been measured in southern Missouri with nearly 10 inches in the community of Houston.
Flash flooding quickly ensued throughout the Central states, leading to road closures and forcing evacuations.
Streams and rivers rapidly rose, and the secondary and major rivers will continue to rise well after the rain has ended and flood waters drain downstream.
The greatest severe hazards are expected to diminish as the thunderstorms approach the I-95 corridor from Washington, D.C., to New York City on Monday night. A heavy burst of rain and rumbles of thunder may rudely awaken residents along this swath.
“The passage of this front will slash highs by 10 to 20 degrees Fahrenheit around the eastern Great Lakes for Tuesday,” Pydynowski said.
Blustery conditions will accompany the cooler air, with winds gusting past 30 mph at times. Wind gusts whipping as high as 60 mph are possible over the Appalachians.
Further cooling will take place at midweek to the mid-Atlantic and New England coasts.
Umbrellas and rain jackets will be needed into late week, as a storm rides up the Eastern Seaboard and delivers a thorough soaking on Thursday and Friday.
“The area was susceptible to major flooding since prior recent heavy rain in much of this swath had the ground saturated and stream and river levels elevated going into the new heavy rain event,” AccuWeather Senior Meteorologist Alex Sosnowski said.
Moderate to major river flooding is expected on the mid-Mississippi, the lowest point of the Ohio, Illinois, Wabash, Black and White rivers.
More record crests are anticipated on smaller rivers in the region. However, even the Mississippi River at Cape Girardeau, Missouri, will approach its record crest of 48.9 feet.
On Saturday night, the North Fork White River near Tecumseh, Missouri, reached its highest level in more than a century. The river rose to 35.51 feet, breaking the previous record crest of 35 feet from Aug. 1, 1915.
The Mississippi River will crest at near-record levels in Cape Girardeau toward and during next weekend.

The Catastrophic Flooding of America continues through NEXT WEEKEND
Massive Wide Spread Floods Across Multiple States. Deadly Mile Wide Tornadoes. Blizzard Conditions. The Middle of America is getting hammered by Severe Weather and Wild Storms. And this shall continue through Monday and probably into next weekend.
Watch for River Flooding to be a MAJOR ISSUE Soon.
God Bless everyone,

Death Toll Rises to 13 as Floods, Tornadoes Batter South, Midwest
At least four tornadoes struck Texas east of Dallas.
Both directions of Interstate 44 were shut down in Missouri.
The storms have left at least 12 dead in the South and Midwest.
Authorities in Arkansas are continuing the search to find two children who are missing after an attempted water rescue.
At least 13 people are dead and dozens more injured as severe storms have brought flooding and tornadoes, and dangerously high winds to Missouri, Arkansas, Mississippi and Texas over the weekend. Several of the deceased have been children, and at two children are still missing after being swept away by flood waters.
At least four tornadoes touched down in Texas Saturday, part of the same system that has put millions under flash flood watches and warnings. Parts of southwestern Missouri and northern Arkansas have received up to 11 inches of rain.
The threat of severe thunderstorms, including possible tornadoes, will continue until Monday, and the threat of moderate to major river flooding remains until next week.
Central US: More rivers to swell to major or record flood stage this week
Despite flooding rain from this weekend departing by Monday, rivers across the central United States will continue to rise and threaten homes and residents this week.
A widespread swath of 4 to 8 inches of rain has inundated communities from Oklahoma to northern Arkansas and the lower Ohio Valley since Friday with locally higher amounts.

National Weather Service hydrologists also expect the Current River at Doniphan, Missouri, to shatter its record crest level of 26.8 feet from March 1, 1904. The river should crest close to 40 feet by midweek.
As is typical, it will take longer for the larger rivers to crest.
The mid-Mississippi River will likely not crest until the middle to latter part of this week.
The river at St. Louis may reach major flood levels later this week where Choteau Island Levee, which protects 2,400 acres, is breached. Flooding will begin in Lemay Park, located just south of Lemay Ferry Road.
The Mississippi River will crest at near-record levels in Cape Girardeau toward and during next weekend.
South of where the Ohio River flows into the Mississippi, the river should slowly climb through following week.
“Residents and officials in the region should closely monitor the flooding situation and be prepared to take action as waters rise,” Sosnowski said.
Never attempt to walk or drive through flooded areas to avoid a potentially deadly situation. More deaths typically occur each year due to flooding than from any other thunderstorm-related hazard. Only six inches of fast-flowing water can knock over an adult. Only two feet of flowing water is needed to sweep away most vehicles.
The rivers will rise early this week despite the return of dry weather. However, the dry spell will not last long.
Big Sky Montana Trek 6-9-18 P1
Big Sky, Montana
Big Sky is located at 45°16′12″N 111°17′59″W (45.269940, -111.299725),[5] approximately midway between West Yellowstone and Bozeman on U.S. Highway 191 and just 15 miles (24 km) from the northwestern border of Yellowstone National Park.
The Meadow area of Big Sky lies in an alpine valley formed during the Cretaceous period. Initially called the Gallatin Canyon Basin, the Meadow is braided with small rivers that channel mountain snow run-off. Fishing is permitted on all of these Gallatin feeders. Two ponds are found on the Middle Fork of the Gallatin River that bisects the Meadow, and fishing there is permitted for those 16 and younger. Since 1993, an innovative sewer system has protected the water in the area from sewage discharge. Several agencies, such as the Gallatin River Task Force, monitor the health of the rivers.
The community had two large ski resorts that are sited in the Mountain area: Big Sky Resort and Moonlight Basin. In October 2013, these resorts merged: both are now managed by Big Sky Resort, and both are alpine ski and golf resorts. The combined terrain of the two resorts allows them to market themselves as the Biggest Skiing in America. The Spanish Peaks Mountain Club is an exclusive ski and golf resort that has three chairlifts and thirteen ski runs connecting it to Big Sky Resort at the base of Big Sky's Southern Comfort lift. Spanish Peaks is also now owned by Big Sky Resort, in collaboration with the Yellowstone Club. Another resort, Lone Mountain Ranch, is a Nordic ski and summer resort that professionally grooms over 75 kilometers of cross-country ski trails. Yellowstone Club, a private resort, is located to the south and adjacent to Big Sky Resort.
The Canyon area of Big Sky lies in the Gallatin Canyon, along the Gallatin River, a favorite for white water rafters and kayakers. The Gallatin River, named after Albert Gallatin[6] who was the Secretary of the Treasury during the Lewis and Clark Expedition, is a Blue Ribbon trout stream that attracts fly-fishers from around the world.[7] Outfitting firms can connect fly-fishers to renowned rivers, in particular the Madison and the Yellowstone. Several dude ranches (320 Guest Ranch, Elkhorn Ranch, Cinnamon Lodge and 9 Quarter Circle) operate in the Gallatin Canyon.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 120.2 square miles (311.4 km2), of which 120.0 square miles (310.8 km2) is land and 0.2 square miles (0.6 km2), or 0.18%, is water. Most of the CDP drains to the east into the Gallatin River, while the westernmost portions drain west via Cedar Creek and Jack Creek to the Madison River. The Gallatin and the Madison both drain north to the Missouri River.
