Just a drive on Rt. 12 from Northfield, through Northfield Falls, into Montpelier, VT. It snowed upwards of a foot the day before. Truly a Winter Wonderland!

Travel along the Molly Stark Byway, the corridor that runs along Route 9 from Bennington, VT to Brattleboro, VT. This area is beloved by those who love outdoor recreation, and is a popular spot for “leaf-peeping” during the fall.
There is, however, a lot more to this region than maple syrup and fall foliage. A region with great history, southern Vermont has hosted revolutionary war battles, enjoyed economic boom times during the industrial revolution, and is now looking for its place in the 21st century.

Covered bridges return one year after Irene
The covered bridge, an age old tradition in the Green Mountain State, was badly scarred during Tropical Storm Irene. Many of the 100 or so spans across Vermont were damaged. Some even closed for good, but they?re coming back.

A huge tree trunk is carried downstream under the bridge-- The Snoqualmie River as seen from the 202 bridge near the Salish Lodge just above the Snoqualmie Falls, on January 7th, 2009 around 5pm. Water flow was around 50,000 cubic feet per second, far above major flood level.
