Join Keith Hartnell as he explores the six stages of this beautiful coastal path, exploring the many fascinating places of interest and meeting some of the characters that make this part of the North East so special. Stunning widescreen digital film makes this DVD the perfect souvenir for anybody interested in Northumberland. The Northumberland Coast is best known for its sweeping beaches, rolling dunes, high rocky cliffs and isolated islands. Amidst this striking landscape is the evidence of an area steeped in history, covering 7000 years of human activity. A host of conservation sites, including two National Nature Reserves, testify to the great variety of wildlife and habitats also found on the coast. The special qualities of this coastal landscape led to it being designated as an area of outstanding natural beauty. (AONB)

This is a 20 mile walk along the Northumbrian Coast Path northwards from Cresswell to Craster via Druridge Bay, Amble, Warkworth and Alnmouth. It forms the first half of the Northumberland Coast Path. You can find a trip report about this walk on my blog at rucksackrose.com. Be warned that this route seems to be aimed at the B&B walker market rather than backpackers as signs against camping are very prominent and the only low budget accommodation is huge caravan parks. I am told there is a passport available which you can stamp along the route.

Wherever you go stay safe, check the weather, plan ahead, let people know where you are going, take maps & compass with your gps and follow the countryside or access codes for where you are.

Bellingham Hiking Northumberland Walking, Circular Walks In Northumberland, England, UK was a fabulous week long hiking trip exploring Northumberland through 7 hikes: Kielder Water and Bull Crag Peninsula; The Tyne River and Hexham; The coast and Craster; and Hadrian's Wall at Walltown, Once Brewed, Housesteads and Steel Rigg. The views were fabulous and the terrain varied between easy and challenging. The distance of the hikes varied between 3 and 9 miles.

Northumberland Coastal Challenge 26 mile walk
On May 2nd 2016 myself and three others took part in a 26 mile charity walk from Warren Mill to Alnmouth in Northumberland. The walk was organised by Shepherds Walks of Rothbury and I have to say it was extremely well organised

Starting at Craster, we walked along the coast, on the St Oswald’s Way to Dunstanburgh Castle and along the magnificent sandy beach at Embleton Bay, towards Low Newton-by-the-Sea. We finished the day sitting on Bamburgh beach, beneath the outstanding Norman Castle

Craster Walk was about 8 miles in distance. The terrain of the route was a combination of clear: coastal path and gravel path; field paths and some short woodland paths and field tracks; plus some lanes and roads. The walking was easy on level ground except for one short moderate incline. Route finding was straightforward with obvious paths, good waymarking and good landmarks. There were no stiles to negotiate.

The Northumberland Coast
Here is my 3rd short film, this time following the beautiful Northumberland Coast down from its roots at Berwick, to the great beacon that is St Marys lighthouse.
I started shooting this film in March and finished only a few days ago. I have been editing throughout my filming in order to work out what and how much I still needed to shoot.
Thank you for taking the time to watch it, as there may not be another one for a while as I go to college in September and probably won't have much time for this sort of thing. But hey, I'll still be filming whatever happens. :)
