Long Tan Cross, Long Tan Memorial, Force base at Nui Dat, Long Phuoc tunnels
November 18, 2013 I guided 2 guest and 2 Australian veterans to the Battle of Long Tan in Ba Ria Vung Tau. I made this movie and I would like many more people will come to Long Tan Cross to visit this memorial. In the order hand, I would like the Australian General Consulate in HCM City will work out with the local authority about the visiting permit. It is not right to ask for the permit for visiting this memorial site. They are lost heroes in the period of more than 40 years. They sacrificed their lives right here& they do not ask us anything, just come to visit them & express our sincere gratitude for what they have done for the country.
Thanks for the music of Mr. Jonh Schumann!
Who have visited the Long Tan Cross
- 13 April 2011 Australian Foreign Minister Kevin Rudd with Vietnam War veterans during an early morning visit to the Long Tan Cross site in Ba Ria-Vung Tau Province, Vietnam.
- On Apr 26, 2013 the ANZAC Day Service at Long Tan Cross Memorial which also includes at the end of the Service two short interviews with New Zealand Ambassador to Viet Nam Mr. Haike Manning and the Australian Consul General to Ho Chi Minh City Mr. John McAnulty.
- On Apr 27, 2012 at the battle of Long Tan on the afternoon of August 18th 1966 18 Australians lost their lives in a fierce firefight with enemy forces. The service paid tribute to those Men and to all ANZAC's past and present who have lost their lives as a result of representing their country in combat. During the minute of silence the sound of thunder could be heard as it did on 18th August during the stormy weather at the battle of Long Tan many years before.

Road building Vietnam style DPR/TV/1091
Engineers of the 17th Construction Squadron in Vietnam are building more than five miles of road between the Task Force base at Nui Dat and the province capital of Baria. Much of this road is used by local farmers, woodcutters and villagers who travel to Baria to trade their goods on the market. The road has been widened to 32 feet, culverts have been rebuilt where needed, and the old, pot holed, dusty road has been transformed into a smooth surfaced highway. The project will be completed next month (June). The engineers are currently surfacing the section of the road between the village of Hoa Long and Baria. Metal for the road is obtained from a quarry at Nui Dat, and from local sources. When the road is finished, it will provide an all weather route for the Vietnamese and military traffic. (Identified personnel: Cpl Colin Dunkley of Mildura, Vic; Sapper Graham Denning of Lavers Hill, Vic).

Viet Cong hospital found DPR/TV/809
Australian soldiers on continuing Operation Pinnaroo have found a Viet Cong field hospital with large quantities of equipment and medical supplies, hidden in an extensive cave complex deep in the Long Hai Hills, south east of Nui Dat in Phuoc Tuy Province. Members of 3rd Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment, found the hospital after working their way for days through a treacherous mine field, painstakingly lifting and neutralising the mines as they went. Four days were spent searching the hospital area, carefully combing inch by inch through the underground tunnels, caves and caverns. The hospital was in a valley thickly strewn with huge boulders, each one possibly covering an entrance to the underground complex. It is the biggest find by the Australians since Operation Pinnaroo began. The Viet Cong had vacated the hospital in such a hurry that they left behind valuable medicines, hospital equipment, clothes, food and weapons. It is believed they fled from the area only two or three days before the members of 3rd Battalion arrived...possibly as a result of airstrikes by US B52 bombers. Thousands of medical documents were captured, bearing the names of many Viet Cong who had been treated at the hospital. After sorting, these were passed back to the Battalion's intelligence section for further checking. The hospital, although crudely housed, was equipped with the latest in medical supplies, and probably was staffed by a doctor, a pharmacist and three medical orderlies. It was capable of housing about 60 Viet Cong. Anti-biotics, vaccines, large supplies of blood plasma and general medicines and bandages will be handed over to a Vietnamese hospital. About 400 lb of rice, clothing and heavy equipment which could not be carried out of the area, was destroyed on the spot. The entire hospital complex is to be blown up, and all entrances sealed, to ensure it can no longer be used by the Viet Cong once the Australians leave the area. Troops of the Battalion are continuing their search of the Long Hai Hills in Operation Pinnaroo, now in its fifth week. (Also identified: Corporal Owen Smith of North Adelaide, SA; Lieutenant H. J. Clarsen of Wollongong, NSW; Private Graham Taylor of Adelaide, SA; Lance Corporal Rod Hill of Geelong, Vic)

Vung Tau, VIetnam! Tet Holiday. (part 1)
What a place! My mate Wade invited me to his family's home in this lovely beach side town of Vung Tau. In this video, we rock up, drop our bags in the hotel, and head to the inlaw's for lunch and drinks. And then the neighbours. And then the relatives. What an amazing and fat start to the day!

Núi Dinh - TP. Bà Rịa qua góc nhìn từ Flycam By H.3.N Photo
