What’s going on everybody? Welcome back to another episode. This time, we’re checking out Shanghai, the biggest city in China. Lets go explore the top things to do and see while you’re there!
Yu Garden
One of the most popular destinations in all of Shanghai is the Yu Gardens. The garden is built in the Old City and is meant as a space for poetry and meditation. Here, you can also find multiple pathways and hidden pavillions to explore.
Oriental Pearl TV Tower
Shanghai Oriental Pearl TV Tower is the 4th highest in Asia and the 6th highest tower in the world. If you can deal with heights and love great views, you can enjoy a beautiful dinner at the restaurant at the top. The basement of the building also hosts the Shanghai Municipal History Museum.
Nanjing Road
Nanjing Road is China’s most premier shopping street where fashion lovers come to visit and shop from across the world. Some of the luxury brands you can find on this street include Tiffany, Mont Blanc, Omega, and Dunhill.
Waibaidu Bridge
The Waibaidu Bridge, which is called Garden Bridge in English, is also known as “Grandma’s Bridge” by the locals due to its rich history and age of over 100 years old. You’ve seen this bridge in many blockbuster movies and has become a distinct landmark in Shanghai’s iconic skyline.
Shanghai River Boat
A popular must-do is the Shanghai River Cruise over the Huangpu River, which is the largest river passing through the city and is also the main source of drinking water for Shanghai. Sit back, relax, and enjoy the views on the amazing river cruise!
Shanghai World Financial Center
The Shanghai World Financial Center is a supertall skyscraper that is dedicated to commerce and culture. The building has multiple uses including a vertical city with over 60 office floors, conference facilities, retail and dining spaces, and a five-star hotel at the top, which makes it the world’s highest hotel from the 79th to 93rd floors. Above the hotel, at the 100th floor, is an observatory with a glass floor for visitors to enjoy breathtaking views.
The Bund
The Bund is a famous waterfront on the west bank of Huangpu River and is iconic to Shanghai. Here, you can experience the charm of Shanghai as a thriving metropolis as well as enjoy the century-old history of this amazing city.

Cracking Jokes on the Bullet Train to Shanghai | China Travel Vlog | Unuided Nations Official
Today is a fun one! Bullet train to Shanghai! Laughter and dumb jokes and frenetic energy in the editing that comes from a long day of being on call filming an event and finishing this into the wee hours of the early morning for me! It’s also nice to be able to joke and show a bit of hanging with Marc, because I know I leave him kind of clouded in mystery and complaints, but it really is nice to have someone along with to laugh at dumb jokes and not always be 100% solo for traveling.
Lastly, I really appreciate all the love and support from the video about my grandmother, it means a lot.
OK! In Shanghai and settled for a bit and I will try to get a little less frantic-vlogging-style and more prepared shoots. I love variety.

Shanghai city in china | Visit Shanghai video tour | Travel to Shanghai city
Shanghai is the largest Chinese city by population[8][9] and the largest city proper by population in the world.[10] It is one of the four direct-controlled municipalities of the People's Republic of China, with a population of more than 24 million as of 2013.[5] It is a global financial center,[11] and a transport hub with the world's busiest container port.[12] Located in the Yangtze River Delta in East China, Shanghai sits at the mouth of the Yangtze in the middle portion of the Chinese coast. The municipality borders the provinces of Jiangsu and Zhejiang to the north, south and west, and is bounded to the east by the East China Sea.[13] More info visit:

Shanghai Trip || Visit to Yu Garden and Exploring Chinese Food History & Markets || Travel Vlog
Yu Garden is an extensive Chinese garden located beside the City God Temple in the northeast of the Old City of Shanghai. Yu Garden is believed to have been built in the Ming Dynasty, more than 400 years ago. The exquisite layout, beautiful scenery, and the artistic style of the garden architecture have made the garden one of the highlights of Shanghai. It is a must visit location for any traveler who is visiting Shanghai. Yu Garden was a private garden of the Pan family in the Ming Dynasty. It was the largest and most prestigious of its era in Shanghai after it was completed. For those looking for a glimpse into ancient China, as reflected in movies and books, this is the place to be.
Yuyuan Bazaar is right next to Yu Garden. It has a great number of small streets and lanes where you can find many restaurants, tea houses, and shops. It is a good place to sample some local snacks and buy some souvenirs. The most popular local snacks are Yangchun noodles, steamed stuffed buns, fried stuffed buns, crispy fried cakes, and chop rice cakes. In the bazaar, Yuyuan Old Street offers traditional Chinese commodities, such as Chinese lanterns, decorations, silk, antiques, arts, handicrafts, craftworks, jewels, and so much more.

Air China Boeing 777-300ER Shanghai Hongquiao to Beijing Capital + buying cheap flights in China
Today I'm flying from Shanghai Hongquiao airport to Beijing Capital on Air China.
I will be flying on B2006, a Boeing 777-300ER delivered in 2014.
Hongquiao is a very nice and modern airport, reachable by subway. Pudong Airport is larger and further away from downtown Shanghai.
Although I love the 777, I was a bit pissed off because the flight was originally going to be operated with a Boeing 747-400. I booked this flight specifically because of that and even paid a bit more than the other suitable alternatives. In any case, the flight was OK and quite cheap. I paid for this 2-hour flight USD 110 (baggage, seat reservation and snack included).
If you are traveling to China, let me suggest you to buy your flights on trip.com. I found that site just by chance and ended up paying much less for my flights than I would had I booked through the airlines' websites. You can also travel from Shanghai to Beijing via high-speed train. There are trips of different duration starting at 4h30min. In any case, 2nd class was a bit cheaper than this flight (about USD 80, first was USD 133 and business USD 250).
Summary:
My seat is 46L
Starting engine #2. This plane is equipped with 2 GE90-115B engines.
Considering the time traveling to/from airports, the train could be a suitable alternative for many people, but for me it wasn't because I wanted to fly on a 747 (which ended up being a 777).
One (very) interesting thing that I found while booking flights within China is that prices do not necessarily surge when you are close to the flight date.
While editing this video I searched for this very same flight within 2 days. The price was USD 111, the same that I paid in October 2019. Early morning or late evening flights could be found for as low as USD 79 (baggage and snack included).
Flying in China is an amazing experience. This route is flown by several airlines. You could fly on a B777, B747, B787, A330, A350, B737 or A320. Some domestic routes are even flown with the A380!
The airports in China are among the best I've ever seen. All of them very well connected with their respective city by train/subway and at very reasonable (i.e. cheap) prices.
The flight time to Beijing is 2 hours.
Takeoff from runway 36L
According to Wikipedia, Shanghai has a population of 24.2 million. São Paulo is big, but Shanghai is even bigger.
Many westerners seem to be quite reluctant to travel to China. I had a great time there. Food is truly amazing and people have been very welcoming.
There's a lot of things to see and do and the country is huge, so you need to plan carefully
Moving around is extremely easy. You won't find better infrastructures anywhere in the world. All major cities have spotless subway networks. The subway is cheap (the price varies with the distance, but the most expensive ticket shouldn't exceed RMB 8 or USD 1.1).
The only difficulty is the language. Google Translate proved to be essential during my trip.
The snack was a sandwich of a sort of ham and pickles and a bottle of water.
Beijing has a population of around 21.5 million. The city is huge
Equipment: Boeing 777-300ER
Reg. B2006
Seat/Asiento/Assento/Poltrona: 46L

I stayed in Shanghai for quite a bit to bring you places like Flair, Yu Garden, French Concession, Pudong, Xintiandi, Shanghai Nightlife and how to cheat China's internet ban. Featuring all must-see locations!
Shanghai literally means 'on top of the sea' in Chinese and with 23 million people it is currently the biggest city in China. The map below has a list of all the best places in Shanghai of which some have a dedicated article and video.
Prices in Shanghai are very affordable, a large bowl of delicious noodles with braised pork and vegetables will cost you less than $2 thus you can comfortably live on $10 budget per day.
The skyline of Shanghai was shaped in less than 26 years, and even holds landmarks like the Jin Mao tower, World Financial Center and Shanghai Tower, world's second tallest building at 632 meters.
Watch the breathtaking view of Shanghai's business district (Pudong) while standing on the Bund, especially at night when all the neon lights come on. For a great observatory view I recommend Flair restaurant on top of the Ritz-Carlton which is FREE to enter.
My favorite way to explore Shanghai was during my daily jogs. I recommend starting on Nanjing Road and make your way to People's Park, especially during the weekend since you may find yourself running into the Shanghai Wedding Market. At which Parents of unmarried adults go to the park every weekend, from noon to 5pm, to trade information on their kids.
China, being a communist country, I've never seen such a large gap between rich and poor. This was one of the last places, after North-Korea, where I would expect to see such a huge income gap.
Senior ladies were selling vegetables on the sidewalk while rich teenagers parked their Lamborghini's next door, quite the eye-opener.
I made a few Chinese friends during my stay in Shanghai, we all went for duck feet dinner on Nanjing Road and a few drinks at Sir Elly's on top of the Peninsula hotel which honestly is the most incredible rooftop bar in Shanghai. A must-see if you ever decide to visit Shanghai!
Shanghai has a strong French influence which you can explore at the French Concession area in the Xintiandi district, one of the most luxury areas of the city. Surprisingly,
I visited Shanghai during fashion week and Octoberfest, if there is on time to go it is visiting Shanghai around this time due to all the events being thrown around the city.
Now my most important tip is ExpressVPN, China has a very strict internet policy, because they cannot control information on Google, Facebook, Gmail, Twitter, YouTube and Instagram, thus they decided to ban it altogether.
The ExpressVPN app has a 30-day free trial and allows you to establish a secure private connection with an offshore server so you can still access the apps and sites you want while staying in China.
This is extremely helpful if you relay on Google Maps to navigate you around, even without - don't be discouraged to visit Shanghai, it was one of the most amazing experiences I've had. Have a safe journey!

Shanghai, The City Tour
This video follows us on our October 14, 2011 tour of Shanghai. Come along with us,
First we once again walk along the Bund esplanade beside the Huangpu River. Next we visit a silk factory-showroom. Our 3rd stop is an interesting local market. After lunch we go to the Old Town, aka Chinatown. Not only is it beautiful, it represents probably the best known quaint area left in this 21st Century sophisticated metropolis. We return to this area for a typically interesting/impressive Chinese dinner. Our day ends with striking video of night time Shanghai enroute to a performance of the world renown Chinese Acrobats.
A D Guida Video Productions (our Travel Diva Hessie + a d (tony to you) himself visited China and Tibet in October 2011. Shanghai was the first stop on our itinerary. This video covers Part 2. Special thanks to Zouba Tours ( for arranging everything in this video. I paid for this tour (it’s not sponsored), but I think they did a great job, and I thoroughly enjoyed the food and the tour.
Luxi who was our guide also has a cooking school called Rice and Friends ( - we’ll visit her cooking school on Day 3 of this series.
Ok, now onto the info about this Chinese street food tour in Yunnan:
Xizhou, China
On Day 1, we drove from Dali Old Town to Xizhou, another ancient town near Dali, that’s known for some famous Chinese street food snacks.
We started for breakfast with a thick pea porridge and a pea pudding salad. The grandmother serving had been making these same dishes since she was a child with her mother. The breakfast was warming and delicious, and it hit the spot in the morning.
Total price - 8 RMB ($1.20)
Xizhou Baba - Probably the most famous Chinese street food you have to try in Xizhou is baba, which is also sometimes known as a Chinese pizza. It’s a round of dough that’s mixed with lard and meat, or the sweet version, and baked in a unique street oven using charcoal. Part of the fun is watching it being made. Then of course, eating it is absolutely delicious.
Price - 10 RMB ($1.50) per piece
Yunnanese cheese - Next up in Xizhou we went to watch a local Yunnanese Cheese demonstration. Yunnan is one of the few places in China where there is a cheese culture - some say it was brought over with the Mongols. We made some local cheese, then put it out to dry, then they let us sample some different types of the prepared cheese. Price - 8 RMB ($1.20)
Yi He Zhuang (怡和庄) Restaurant - This Yunnanese ethnic Bai Chinese food meal was the highlight of my day. We had an absolute feast of a meal, including a few unique Chinese dishes like raw pig sashimi and pine needle salad. Everything was colorful, using natural ingredients and the flavors were spectacular. This meal is one I’ll never forget.
Total price - 215 RMB ($32.41)
Dali Old Town - It was a long day of delicious Chinese food, and in the evening we drove back to Dali Old Town and headed out for dinner.
Duan’s Kitchen - For dinner we were back in Old Town Dali, and my friend Frank from Zouba Tours mentioned that Duan’s Kitchen was a little touristy, but he said we needed to try it because the food was amazing and they are doing some unique things. The food was outstanding, and my favorite dish was the chicken braised in chili oil with pu’er tea.
Total price - 180 RMB ($27.14)
