Electric co-op employees power up Oak Park in Minot, ND
(Bill Knudson): Hey Bill, you wanna give me a hand down here?
Bill Knudson and Bill Sauter make quite a pair. One Bill talks...
(Bill Knudson): Yah, there's a lot of people out here from all over the state.
...And one Bill doesn't.
(Bill Sauter): That's okay.
Together, these two electricians from Leland Olds Station are part of the crew bringing power to a park that needs it.
(Bill Knudson): Everybody's got their little job and the biggest job is there's 60 of these pedestals that gotta be installed.
Oak Park in Minot, ND, was flooded out last summer during the Souris River flood.
(Bill Knudson): It's so stressful for these people that have been flooded out.
(Dale Howard): Co-ops have a lot of people working for them that really care.
More than 50 cooperative employees from across the state are wiring up shelters and bathrooms.
(Tracie Bettenhausen): One year ago, the Souris River was so high in this park that it completely submerged the building behind us.
Verendrye Electric was the first co-op here... and they knew they could count on their friends to help.
(Bruce Carlson): Thanks to my manager colleagues for sending their best people here.
For the Minot Park Board, they can't put a price tag on the help they're getting from the co-ops.
(Ron Bieri): It just amazes me that we have as many people from as many other communities that have come here just to help. It's fantastic.
For Bill and Bill, this isn't just another day in the power plant.
(Bill Knudson): It's nice that all the co-ops are helping out.
But as cooperative employees, helping out their community is just another day on the job.
(Bill Sauter): It's a good thing.
(Bill Knudson): This one's done and on to the next.
