Plano TX ...Today We Tour Plano TX
Have you thought about Moving to Texas and don't know how it is like Living In Dallas? maybe you are looking for the Best City To Raise Family near Dallas? Today Andy and Patrice tour Plano Texas, which is one of the best cities to live and work in.
Plano enjoys a reputation as one of the most desirable cities to live and work in. Plano was recently named as one of the “Safest Cities in America” and “Best Run Cities in America” by Law Street Media and 24/7 Wall Street respectively.
The city is a hub for many corporate headquarters. Approximately 80% of Plano's visitors are business travelers, due to its close proximity to Dallas and the many corporations headquartered in Plano. The city also has a convention center that is owned and operated by the city. Plano has made a concerted effort to draw retail to its downtown area and the Legacy West in an effort to boost sales tax returns. There are three malls in the city: The Shops at Willow Bend, Collin Creek Mall, and The Shops at Legacy, an area that has apartments, shops, and restaurants constructed with the New Urbanism philosophy. Some of the country's largest and most recognized companies have their headquarters in Plano. Tree-lined Legacy Drive in the 75024 ZIP Code, between Preston Road and Dallas North Tollway, has many corporate campuses.
Although Plano is named for the flat plains of the area, large trees abound in the city's many parks. One such tree, estimated to be over 200 years old, resides in Bob Woodruff park near Rowlett Creek on the city's east side. There are two main open space preserves: Arbor Hills Nature Preserve (200 acres) and Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve (800 acres). Bob Woodruff Park and Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve are connected by biking trails, making the green space one large uninterrupted park space that is larger than Central Park in New York City (840 acres).
There are five recreation centers: Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center, Carpenter Park Recreation Center, Oak Point Recreation Center, Liberty Recreation Center, and Douglass Community Center. Carpenter Park Recreation Center, Oak Point Recreation Center, and Tom Muehlenbeck Recreation Center have an indoor pool, while Liberty Recreation Center, has an outdoor pool.[42] Plano Senior Recreation Center is a recreation center dedicated to seniors. There are three swimming pools owned by Plano Parks & Recreation: Harry Rowlinson Community Natatorium, Jack Carter Pool, and Plano Aquatic Center. All of the pools are indoor except for Jack Carter Pool. Douglass Community Center houses the Boys & Girls Club of Collin County. For pet owners, there is The Dog Park at Jack Carter Park.
Plano is also the home to two campuses of Collin College, one at the Courtyard Center on Preston Park Boulevard and the larger Spring Creek Campus on Spring Creek Parkway at Jupiter.

Driving through Plano Neighborhoods: Saigling Elementary
Saigling Elementary is zoned just west of Independence, north of Park, and south of Parker. With exception of most homes in the Stonewood Glen subdivision, the Sagling zone is bordered by Coit to the west. Saigling is about as central as one can be in Plano, which brings the convenience of being within a 15-minute drive of almost everything that Plano has to offer.
Saigling Elementary itself sits adjacent to Cheyenne Park, which is home to a playground and a good number of playing fields. The park serves as a social hub for many of the children and families that attend Saigling. The neighborhood is a 5-7 minute drive to Whole Foods and Trader Joe’s at Park and Preston, a 5-7 drive to both the Liberty Recreation Center and the Carpenter Recreation Center, and an 8-10 minute drive to Downtown Plano. Both the Arbor Hills Nature Preserve preserve to the west and the Oak Point Nature Preserve to the east are just over a 15-minute drive away.
Virtually all homes in this neighborhood east of Coit were built in the in the late ‘70s and early ‘80s and, of those, most are one-story brick, ranch-style homes. The trees are mature and the houses are well-proportioned to their lot sizes. Homes west of of Coit are mostly two stories that were built in the mid- to late ‘90s in the red brick, Texas traditional style. Competitive offers are necessary in the Saigling neighborhood, as homes sold for an average of 1.4% under list price from mid-May to mid-July of 2018.
Single-Family Home Sales in the Saigling School Zone from mid-May to mid-July of 2018:
Median Sales Price: $330,000
Average Sales Price: $335,423
Ave. sqft: 2,513 sqft.
Ave. price per sqft.: $135.38
Saigling Elementary Data:
Enrollment: 406
Student:Teacher Ratio: 12.6 S/T
Gifted and Talented: 21.92%
Average Teacher Experience: 11.9 years
Average Teacher Tenure at Saigling: 9.9 years
Principal: Chris Dunkle is a former Plano ISD student and is a parent

The Mitchell Wedding
In Oak Point Nature Preserve, Plano, TX on October 24, 2015 Holly & Jesse tied the knot. We'd been preparing for an outdoor wedding for over a year. On October 22nd torrential rain began to blanket Texas. It was from Hurricane Patricia, the most intense tropical cyclone ever recorded in the Western Hemisphere. Patricia was the 24th named storm of the year and in just 24 hours it grew from a tropical storm to a Category 5 hurricane. The #24 seems to be recurring. I'll call it good luck. We were prepared with a backup plan inside the new Oak Point Nature Center but because the outdoors were a special place for the bride & groom (and the mother of the bride insisted to execute all the decorations how they were planned even if no one was able to enjoy them) we decided stick with the plan outdoors. We had a huge covered pavilion for shelter and the family sent up many prayers for weather we could handle. At 9am the groom & family of the bride started decorating the pavilion in the rain. As time progressed the rain slowly began to let up and by 12pm the rain had all but gone. At 1pm the second shift arrived and the first shift left to get ready for the ceremony. The grooms’ family and a few more of the brides’ family came to do more set up and were amazing at getting all the loose ends tied up. Couldn't have done it without you all! Amazingly enough, the rain stayed away for the rest of the day. The groom left to get ready and the bride arrived. After a bridal shoot with the photographer Cristy Angulo we prepared for the ceremony. The guests began to arrive in dry weather, and we were so thankful for that, but it had become windy and cold and some were not prepared. Everyone had brought umbrellas but few had jackets and sweaters. Several family members, who were there early, took time to go to Good Will and buy jackets since we were too far from home. While waiting for all the guests to finish arriving, my brother pulled me aside to show me the weather radar which I had been avoiding for weeks. As I broke down to let him show me he says Look God has made a hole for Holly's wedding! We watched the loop and the whole metroplex was in light rain except for Plano, TX. There was a perfect dry circle in the green mass and we were in the middle. All I can say is “prayer is powerful.” At 4:10pm Holly and her father walked down the path to meet her groom, Jesse. It was perfect! It was a beautiful hand written ceremony by a wonderful couple! The words recited were so appropriate and touching and there were tears running down several cheeks. After pictures were taken and the couple returned to the pavilion, dinner was served. We all enjoyed the Texas BBQ at our picnic tables and took turns warming up by the fire in the giant fireplace. After dinner we proceeded up to the Nature Center to welcome the Bride & Groom with a bubble parade into the after party. We had drinks & snacks, played games, toasted the couple, threw the garter, tossed the bouquet and enjoyed a slide show of the couple through the last 4 years. It was a beautiful day for a beautiful couple! They say rain on your wedding day is good luck. I think Jesse & Holly have and will continue to have luck on their side. They are BLESSED!
