Obudu Mountain Resort (formerly known as the Obudu Cattle Ranch) is a ranch and resort on the Obudu Plateau in Cross River State, Nigeria. It was developed in 1951 by M. McCaughley, a Scot who first explored the mountain ranges in 1949. He camped on the mountaintop of the Oshie Ridge on the Sankwala Mountains for a month before returning with Mr. Hugh Jones a fellow rancher in 1951. Together with Dr Crawfeild, they developed the Obudu Cattle Ranch.[1] Although the ranch has been through troubles since, it has been rehabilitated to its former glory.
Since 2005, a cable car climbing 870 metres (2,850 ft) from the base to the top of the plateau gives visitors a scenic view while bypassing the extremely winding road to the top.[2]
The resort is found on the Obudu Plateau, close to the Cameroon border in the northeastern part of Cross River State, approximately 110 kilometres (68 mi) east of the town of Ogoja and 65 kilometres (40 mi) from the town of Obudu in Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State.[3] It is about 30 minutes drive from Obudu town and is about a 332 kilometres (206 mi) drive from Calabar, the Cross River State capital.
Charter air service is available to the Bebi Airport which lies between the village of Obudu and the resort.

Obudu Mountain Resort (Formally known as Obudu Cattle Ranch) is located in the highlands of Cross River State, Nigeria, only 45 miles from the border with Cameroon, and it possesses a temperate (cold) climate due to its high altitude.
Obudu is one of the finest and most magnificent tourist destinations in Nigeria. However, maintenance and getting to the location is a bit of a headache.
There used to be direct flight to the ranch but not anymore. All access roads leading to the ranch are in a poor state. Abuja to Obudu to the Resort took about 12 hours so brace yourself.
Nonetheless, it has had 5 presidents of countries as guest at one time or the other.

In December, I got to visit the Obudu Mountain Resort and spent 3 amazing nights there and oh was it a beyond wonderful experience.

Visiting Obudu Mountain Resort had been on my to-do list for the past few years and when an opportunity to visit came up, I couldn’t pass up on it. Being from one of the busiest cities on the continent this trip was essential and it took me from the hustle and bustle to a place of serene. There were so many activities like the canopy walk, fern grove, bird watching. I visited the holy mountain, saw waterfalls and I got to take a dip in a natural spring. I left the Obudu cattle ranch Calabar with my mind feeling refreshed and raring to create this travel film. You should visit Obudu Mountain resort some day.

Obudu Mountain Resort (Obudu Cattle Ranch) is an idyllic mountain range. It is so cold that Air Conditioners are not installed in the rooms.
There is a small room heater provided, however, the heater is useless as the ranch is not connected to the National Grid for power supply. Generator is put on by 6pm and turned off by midnight.
Perfect if you love being cold, want to disconnect from the rest of the world and just lay back.
We loved it.

Obudu Cattle Ranch (We jumped into a Natural Pool)
Obudu Cattle Ranch was such a dream.
From jumping into natural pools to wandering through mountains.
From watching cattle roam freely to socializing with the villagers, it was everything and more.
