Comparing Westport to Ocean Shores; also contrast; you can see difference in culture. WA
There is a stark contrast between these towns. Let me add that the water tastes better in Westport as well. I have to choke down the Ocean Shores tap water, but Westport is more appealing. Still, the Aberdeen water tastes much better than either of the two.
Since Westport water tastes better than Ocean Shores, I question what they are doing differently to achieve better quality. Both cities are living under very similar environmental conditions.

Eight bodies found in boat washed up on Japan beach
❀ ❀ ❀Please Follow Anima-Breaking News ❀ ❀ ❀
Eight bodies, which had been reduced partly to skeletons, were found on Monday in a small wooden ship that washed up on a beach in the sea of Japan, the Japan Coast Guard (JCG) said.
The ship came ashore on a beach 70 km (44 miles) north of a marina where police last week found eight men who said they were from North Korea. Police said they appeared to be fishermen whose boat, found nearby, had run into trouble.
The JCG said they were working to establish the nationalities of the eight bodies on the ship.
The bodies of two males, similarly partly skeletonized, were also found at the weekend on the western shore of the Sea of Japan island of Sado.
Although the nationalities of these two have not yet been established, what appeared to be North Korean cigarettes and life jackets with Korean lettering on them were nearby, the JCG's Sado station said.
Both local police and the JCG said the two may have been from North Korea.
The incidents come at a time of rising tension over North Korea's nuclear arms and missile programs after President Donald Trump redesignated the isolated nation a state sponsor of terrorism, allowing the United States to levy further sanctions.
Experts say North Korea's food shortages could be behind what is potentially a series of accidents involving North Korean ships.
North Korea pushes so hard for its people to gather more fish so that they can make up their food shortages, said Seo Yu-suk, research manager of North Korean Studies Institution in Seoul.
Small and old North Korean ships that sail beyond its coastal waters are vulnerable to bad weather, he said.
Yoshihiko Yamada, professor at Japan's Tokai University, said fishermen operating in the Sea of Japan have just entered a season of hostile weather conditions.
During the summer, the Sea of Japan is quite calm. But it starts to get choppy when November comes. It gets dangerous when northwesterly winds start to blow, he said.
A total of 43 wooden ships that were believed to have come from the Korean peninsula washed up on Japanese shores or were seen to be drifting off Japan's coast from January to Nov. 22 this year, compared with 66 ships for the whole of last year, the JCG said.

Washington State Wine and Lake Country - Woodmark Hotel - Travel in 10 Podcast
On this edition of the Travel in 10 Podcast we visit the Woodmark Hotel, by Destination Hotels & Resorts. It is located about 25 minutes from downtown Seattle, but feels like it is hours away with an upscale beach resort vibe.
It is located right on the shore of Lake Washington and has a wide variety of activities such as kayaking, jet skis, ski boats and stand up paddle boards all that can be rented just outside the hotel.
The rooms have recently been renovated and have a great water view. The hotel also has a number of great quirky amenities like their Raid the Pantry feature, essentially a free night-time extensive snack bar for guests in the lobby, or the hotel resident dog, a black lab you can take out for a jog on the lake.
Their signature restaurant Bin on the Lake features an extensive collection of regional wines, on tap, meaning you can sample a wide variety of high quality wines by the glass. They also have an excellent spa on site.
The location also make this an ideal jumping off point to explore some of the nearby wineries of Washington in nearby Woodinville or the galleries and shops in upscale Kirkland. We will be taking you to visit Chateau St. Michelle Winery and then finishing off the tour at the Future of Flight Aviation Center and Boeing Tour.
This trip makes a great weekend away from Vancouver, BC, Victoria, BC or Portland, Oregon.

Living on a 4 Season Houseboat - Beautiful Floating Tiny House!
In this video, we meet Bonnie from Wakefield, Québec, Canada who is living on a gorgeous tiny house boat that is full of character and charm. The River Den (or La Tannière) has custom-made asymmetrical windows, a classic ship's wheel, antique fireplace, and hand-built furniture — all of which give the boat a warm and cozy feel that makes you feel at home as soon as you step on board. The boat is docked on the shore of the Gatineau River and Bonnie lives in it as often as she can when she's not renting it out on Airbnb (
The tiny houseboat was designed by Bonnie and her boatbuilding friend, Denis Tremblay, who is known locally as the Wakefield Pirate. Denis and a few of his friends built the boat by hand, including the aluminum frame and the custom windows, the cabinets, and the grill floor in the loft.
The boat is built on 5 pontoons that are designed to provide flotation while still taking on some water to keep the boat weighed down in the water for stability. The pontoons are also designed to freeze in the ice and are made by a local company called Les Quais Navigables (
It's a 4-season house boat that is fully insulated and has an antique wood burning fireplace to provide heat in winter. For power, they installed a deep cycle marine battery that provides 12-Volt power for the lights, bilge pump, and navigation lights. They have a Separett composting toilet from Sweden ( and a sink that pumps water from the river for washing dishes. For refrigeration, Bonnie uses a cooler with ice, but she might invest in some solar panels so that she can power a proper fridge eventually.
The main floor has a kitchen, toilet, dining room and living room, and upstairs there is cozy a sleeping loft with a grill floor that allows heat to rise through the floor, and sun & dust to travel down to the main level. One of the windows in the loft opens up onto a gorgeous rooftop patio with a cedar deck and has space for some solar panels if/when Bonnie decides she needs them.
The boat has a gas motor and can be taken out on the river which is quite impressive considering it's size! To make sure the boat was still road worthy, they built a wedge roof over the loft that can be taken apart if Bonnie wants to transport it to a different location. The boat is currently docked in the quaint little town of Wakefield, Québec where there are cute cafes, restaurants and shops right across the street.
If anyone is interested in renting this house boat, check it out on the Airbnb website here:
