How good is sport climbing Odderøya in Norway? | Best climbing spots in Europe | Vlog Ep. 30
Sport climbing Norway? Then watch this climbing video from Kristiansand in Norway, which is one of the best climbing spots in Europe! At least to me!
In this video I will introduce the sport climbing crag called Odderøya just south of Kristiansand in Norway. Here you will find over 60 sport climbing routes spread across six sectors ranging from grade 4 to 7c, but most climbs are between 5b and 6b!
Norway is actually the home of Magnus Midtbø, one of the best nordic rock climbers right now. There are loads of sport climbing videos with Magnus Midtbø, and he actually runs his own YouTube climbing vlog too. You should definitely check out his climbing vlog!
And the location of Odderøya is just fantastic! But you have to watch the climbing video to see that! There is a fantastic fort and a beautiful lighthouse there too. So Odderøya is a great place to go hiking too.
The sport climbing crag Odderøya in Norway offers a very diverse amount of routes, but most of either slab or vertical with a lot of crack features. The rock type is a mix of granite and gneiss.
Finding Odderøya in Noway is really easy. It is literally a five minute drive from Kristiansand and you should park at one of the many parking lots on the island. When you have found a parking place, hike towards the lighthouse and follow the trail that leads down to the waterfront. Before the green fence turn left up, and follow the narrow trail towards to the Odderøya sport climbing crag.

Sport Climbing Slingsby (6a) at Odderøya in Norway | Best Climbing Spots in Europe
Sport Climbing in Norway is amazing! And sport climbing at Odderøya just south of Kristiansand is no exception! Odderøya is a small island that features a rock climbing crag with six main sectors. So watch this sport climbing video about climbing Slingsby at Odderøya in Norway
At Odderøya the sport climbing routes are very diverse with both slab climbing, vertical rock climbing and overhang sport climbing. During a rock climbing trip to Kristiansand in Norway we found the 6a sport climbing route, Slingsby, at the very tip of the Odderøya island.
Slingsby is a fantastic 6a sport climbing route and is referred to as a classic by the guidebook, Sørlandet Rock. So, this is definitely a route that you should check out if you find yourself climbing at Odderøya! In this sport climbing video I will show you how to climb Slingsby!
The sport climbing route, Slingsby, follows a layback corner that looks like a gigantic boulder. This is really cool and there are some really nice moves. Slingsby, moves onto the slab, where you rock climb some horisontal cracks that you use as hand holds. Once this is climbed, you climb onto an almost vertical sections with a lot of crystals popping out of the rock face. This looks really cool, and offers a lot of opportunities.
Odderøya is one of the best climbing spots I have been to in Kristiansand in Norway. We also climbed other sport climbing routes here, which are between 8 to 30 meters. So remember to watch some of the other sport climbing videos from Kristiansand in Norway. The rock climbing routes range from grade 4 to grade 7c, but most routes are in the proximity of 6a. So, Odderøya would make a great beginners rock climbing crag.
