This shrine used to be a village shrine of Shimo-Ogikubo Village. They say that it was founded during Bunmei period from 1469 to 1486.

Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line The Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line (東京地下鉄丸ノ内線 Tōkyō Chikatetsu Marunouchi-sen) is a subway line of the Tokyo Metro system in Tokyo, Japan. The line runs in a U-shape between Ogikubo Station in Suginami and Ikebukuro Station in Toshima, with a branch line between Nakano-Sakaue Station and Hōnanchō Station. The official name is Line 4 Marunouchi Line (4号線丸ノ内線 Yon-gōsen Marunouchi-sen).

天沼八幡神社(荻窪)Amanuma Hachiman Shrine
東京都杉並区荻窪にある、 天沼八幡神社。
旧天沼村字中谷戸の鎮守で天正年間(1573~1591年)の創建と伝えられてます。
普段は静かでひっそりとして いますが、例大祭や酉の市が 毎年行われています。
his shrine is dedicated to Emperor Ojin and Ichikishimahime-no-mikoto(mythical goddess who has been believed to protect markets). In this shrine garden, Suga shrine, Kanayamahiko shrine, Otori shrine, and Inari shrine are also enshrined as branch temples.
