■TripNotes
Spot1:Ruins of Takeda Castle
The ruins of Takeda Castle are located at the peak of Mt. Kojo in the city of Asago. On particularly foggy mornings, the base of the mountain becomes invisible and the castle seems to be floating in air. This mystical scene is where the nickname Castle in the Sky comes from and it has also appeared in the movie Kagemusha directed by Akira Kurosawa.
If you're lucky, you may be able to see the ruins floating in a sea of mist from the Ritsuunkyo viewing deck at the time of sunrise in the months of October and November.
Spot2:Arima Hot Springs
Arima Hot Springs are accessible from Kobe and Osaka city centers and are known as one of the three most famous hot springs in Japan. Experience the scene of traditional wooden buildings lined along the narrow streets and peaceful ambiance of the hot spring town. There are hot springs that you can visit on a day-return trip, but why not stay for a night and have a stroll through the town?
Climb the nearby Mount Rokko with the ropeway and take a nature walk in the sky.
Food:Kobe Beef
Hyogo is where the world-famous Japanese beef brand, Kobe Beef comes from.
Kobe Beef ranks among the top of many Japanese beef brands. Kobe Beef steak is highly recommended. Enjoy the beautifully presented, soft and finely textured meat that melts in your mouth.

1589 Hiroshima-Gokoku-Jinja Shrine Hiroshima Castle Near MCAS Iwakuni also known Carp Castle Shrine
Mōri Terumoto, one of Toyotomi Hideyoshi's council of Five Elders, built Hiroshima castle between 1589 and 1599.[1] It was located on the delta of the Otagawa river. There was no Hiroshima city or town at the time, and the area was called Gokamura, meaning five villages. Beginning in 1591, Mōri Terumoto moved from Yoshida-Kōriyama Castle and governed nine provinces from this castle, including much of what is now Shimane, Yamaguchi, Tottori, Okayama and Hiroshima Prefectures.
When construction on the castle began, Gokamura was renamed Hiroshima, as a more impressive name was called for. Hiro was taken from Ōe no Hiromoto, an ancestor of the Mōri family, and Shima was taken from Fukushima Motonaga, who helped Mōri Terumoto choose the castle site. Some accounts state that the name Hiroshima, meaning wide island, comes from the existence of several large islands in the delta of the Otagawa, near the castle's site.
Following the battle of Sekigahara in 1600, Mōri was forced out of the castle, retreating to Hagi in today's Yamaguchi Prefecture. Fukushima Masanori became the lord of Aki and Bingo Provinces (which today make up Hiroshima Prefecture) and of Hiroshima castle. However, the new Tokugawa shogunate forbade any castle construction without permission from Edo; this was part of how the shogunate kept the daimyōs from gaining power and overthrowing the shogunate. When Fukushima repaired the castle following a flood in 1619, he was dispatched to Kawanakajima in today's Nagano Prefecture. Asano Nagaakira then became lord of the castle.
From 1619 until the abolition of the feudal system during the Meiji Restoration (1869), the Asano family were lords of Aki and Bingo Provinces.
After the Meiji Restoration, the castle came to serve as a military facility, and the Imperial General Headquarters was based there during the First Sino-Japanese War in 1894–1895. The foundations of several of the GHQ outbuildings, just a few hundred paces from the castle's main tower, remain today.
During the final months of World War II, the castle served as the headquarters of the 2nd General Army and Fifth Division, stationed there to deter the projected Allied invasion of the Japanese mainland. The castle was destroyed in the atomic bomb blast of August 6, 1945, and for many years, it was believed the castle structure was blown away by the explosion that destroyed Hiroshima, but newly discovered evidence suggests the explosion only destroyed the lower pillars of the castle, and the rest of it collapsed as a result.[2]
The present tower, constructed largely of concrete, was completed in 1958. Philippines, sailors Japan Community Relations MCAS Iwakuni U.S. Navy MWR, Suo-Oshima, Mochi Family, AIMD, Iwakuni, U.S. Forces japan,

Time Travelling in Japan (Mitarai , Kure City Hiroshima)
■About Mitarai
Mitarai is a really interesting place. it’s super traditional and was just recently announced as a Japanese Heritage Site. Mitarai is one of those towns where if you want to experience something a little more authentic in Japan or away from the bigger cities, and a great place to take some amazing photos, it’s one of those places to check out.
■Access to CLAYTON BAY HOTEL
Kure is really close to Hiroshima City. It only takes about 40 minutes by bus.
■Access to Mitarai
you can get here by renting a car. If you catch a bus from Kure City station it’s pretty easy to get here. And there may even be options to take a boat or a ferry to come up here as well.

Japan Travel: Beauty in the middle of city, Ohori Park, Fukuoka, Japan
Beauty in the middle of city, Ohori Park, Fukuoka, Japan
【006 Ohori Park】
Subscribe link:
Ohori Park (大濠公園, Ōhori-kōen) is a pleasant city park in central Fukuoka with a large pond at its center. There is a walking path around the circumference of the pond that is just a little over two kilometers long and is popular for jogging, walking pets and leisurely strolls by the water.
Ohori is Japanese for moat, and the pond at the center of the park once served as part of the moat system of the neighboring Fukuoka Castle. The park was constructed between 1926 and 1929 and designed after the classical garden style of the West Lake in China. There are three islands in the middle of the pond that are connected to the mainland and each other by elegant stone bridges.
Directly adjacent to the pond at its southeastern corner is the Fukuoka Art Museum. The museum was opened in 1979 and has a permanent collection that includes Buddhist statues dating back to the 11th century and paintings and sculptures by modern artists like Miro and Dali. Besides the permanent collection, the museum also holds a variety of special temporary exhibitions.
A few steps south of the museum visitors will come across the Ohori Park Japanese Garden which, in contrast to the rest of the park, charges a small entrance fee. Here visitors can see typical features of Japanese gardens like dry landscapes and tea houses. The Gokoku Shrine is located across the street about 150 meters to the southeast. The path to the shrine leads under a massive torii gate and the main shrine building is a unique gold structure situated in front of a spacious yard.
How to get there
Ohori Park is a few steps from Ohori Koen Subway Station (10 minutes, 260 yen from Hakata Station).

mochi nagae Fragment NI
Mochi-nage DROPPED FRAMES
At a mountain peak overlooking Sentouchi, a simple countryside town of Okayama, a small crowd gathers. An entourage of Hapi men wrapped and in fundoshi; the traditional float bearers clothing chorus towards the town’s Shinto shrine. Elders garbed in Hakama robes and Buddhist priests clasping their shides march behind, ready to perform the annual request to the Gods for protection of the town over the coming winter.
Reading from the sacred scripts the crowd observes the formalities awaiting the mochinage spectacle. With over 80,000 Shinto shrines in Japan, traditional ceremonies act as a social adhesive and strengthen Japanese cultural heritage in small towns and through different generations.
Like many towns Sentouchi has traits and nuances to the communal rituals. Any foreigner moving through the four islands can observe the overt uniqueness of Japan’s strong cultural heritage through traditional rituals.
Most wait by the priest’s quarters for the anticipated mochi-throwing spectacle. A stampede of drums signal the spectacle and pounded rice bean cakes sling through crowds, hunched old women nudge their way through the crowds and collect the sweets below.
Always in Japan exists a surprising combination of esoteric tradition with wholesome crowd-pleasing activities.
According to the great Naggi, Nagae a disgruntled serpent hibernating every winter in the umbra’s black, was awoken one day to buzzing sounds, it was the cicada plague, an evolved hybrid cicada specie that could exit the atmosphere, through 24 hour gaming marathons (cicadas nest in 24 hour internet cafes ) forced into slave typing they rebelled society’s increased use of screen technology and found true blackness.
Nagae, restless, tried his serpent best to return to the dreaming state but found the continuous interruption of his silence, torturous and abhorrent. Stuck in his wormhole the repeating, constant and continuous present enmeshed him, sanity began to unravel and he wondered, he proclaimed will I get to the future?, Will I live through this?
He tried a pacifist approach and hoped more silence could surpass grammar or meditation could transcend his NaggiNoodle serpent form. But alas, the cicada nuisance impeded attempts to reincarnate and Nagae could not dive deeper into ideas and started to sweat small balls of mochi the beloved staple cereal grain: rice.
Rituals remain the glue for smaller communities, most of the crowd waited for the rice throwing and skipped the ancient ceremony. Indicating traditions have uses, connecting communities, but should be independent of identity and social structure as different times require different systems and order.

The Toka Shinto Service
