Tombstone is a historic city Arizona. It was one of the last wide-open frontier boomtowns in the American Old West. The town prospered from about 1877 to 1890, during which time the town's mines produced $40 to $85 million in silver bullion, the largest productive silver district in Arizona. Its population grew from 100 to around 14,000 in less than seven years. It is best known as the site of the Gunfight at the O.K. Corral.

Tombstone, Arizona! The town that’s too tough to die… That’s right folks! This time we pack up Betsy and head down south to one of the most violent towns the West had ever seen! Lots of restrictions and can be hard to do a Tombstone Travel Vlog. We check out sites like The O.K. Corral, Birdcage Theater, Big Nose Kates Saloon. And ofcourse we stay in our trusty RV Betsy that was having some issues that we discovered the first night. The RV Resort was not bad. Simple, but you are walking distance from pretty much everything.

The Tombstone Grand Hotel, Tombstone ,AZ.
The inspiration for The Tombstone Grand Hotel comes from the original Grand Hotel whichin its prime housed some of Tombstone's most famous residents including Wyatt and Virgil Earp, Doc Holliday, and the Clanton Gang. Unfortunately, the Grand did not survive the devastating fire in May of 1882 and was rebuilt as Big Nose Kate's Saloon.Whenthe Grand Hotel first opened its doors in September of 1880, it was declared one of the finest hotels in the state complete with luxurious furnishings, beautiful artand affable staff. As we set out to create a unique boutique experience in the legendary town of Tombstonewe looked to preserve some of the elements that made the Grand Hotel so special. We too pride ourselves in the quality of our establishment and our dedicated staff. Our commitment to the comfort and happiness of our guests manifests itself as White Hat Service.
WONDERING ABOUT THE BIRD?
Some of the best birding in the United States happens here in Cochise County. Approximately 400 species of birds can be found in the area year roundwith an additional 250 species that use the San Pedro River during migration in the spring and fall.
Sitting atop The Tombstone Grand Hotel logo is a cactus wren, the state bird of Arizona and resident trouble maker. The Cactus Wren's gregarious personality and distinct features make it fairly easy to spot. Be on the lookout for a vocal bird with abrown head, white eye stripe and spotted tail feathers.
Cactus Wrens are also notorious for getting into mischief. Being curious birds, it is not uncommon for them to be found flying about in automobiles where the owner has left a window open.

We spent the first 3 days exploring the state of Arizona before meeting up with our HOGJAW family and friends for Beerfest 2011. One of the first places was The Town Too Tough To Die, Tombstone, Arizona. We do not own the rights to the music in this video.
TOMBSTONE COURT HOUSE, TOMBSTONE ARIZONA HISTORIC COURTHOUSE.
Tombstone Courthouse State Historic Park, located in Tombstone, Arizona, United States, preserves the original Cochise County courthouse. The two-story building, constructed in 1882 in the Victorian style, is laid out in the shape of a cross and once contained various county offices, including those of the sheriff, recorder, treasurer, and the Board of Supervisors as well as courtrooms and a jail. Inside, the courthouse contains a museum with numerous artifacts from the town's history while outside, a replica gallows has been constructed in the courtyard to mark the spot where seven men were hanged for various crimes. The park was one of the first to be designated as a state park and in 1959 was the first to open following the 1957 establishment of the Arizona State Parks BoardFollowing the 1877 discovery of silver ore by prospector Ed Schieffelin in southeastern Arizona, the town of Tombstone was founded and grew rapidly as miners flooded the area in the hope of finding their fortunes. At the time, the area was part of Pima County with the county seat Tucson being a rugged two-day, 70-mile journey away. In 1881, the residents of the thriving boomtown voted to separate from Pima County and the territorial legislature subsequently formed a new county, Cochise County. A new courthouse was built the following year and housed all of the county's offices.
Tombstone remained the county seat until 1929, when outvoted by a growing Bisbee, and the county seat was moved there. The last county office left the courthouse in 1931. Except for an ill-fated attempt to convert the courthouse into a hotel during the 1940s, the building stood vacant until 1955. When the Tombstone Restoration Commission acquired it, they began the courthouse rehabilitation and the development as a historical museum that has continued to operate as a state park since 1959. It features exhibits and thousands of artifacts which tell of Tombstone's colorful past.
The courthouse was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1972.

It also became a magnet to thieves, card-sharks, murderers, rustlers and an abundance of bad guys. Founded in 1879 by Ed Schieffelin who discovered rich silver deposits, the town grew quickly. Within two years, it became an isolated metropolitan city with two banks, three newspapers. four churches, an opera house and even a bowling alley. But the thriving streets of Tombstone became wild and wicked with 110 saloons, 14 gambling halls, several dancing halls with brothels. That’s just a small part of the excitement you’ll find here!

This museum housed in the old Courthouse in Tombstone is a throwback to years of past. They have everything from old Gaming devices, and mining equipment to guns and tool used by Wyatt Earp. This museum may be the best place to come if you wish to find out what the good old west days were really like. They have lots of info on Wyatt Earp, his family and the men he knew. You even get to stand underneath the old gallows.

The Streets of Tombstone
Between 1879 and 1900, the town of Tombstone, in the southeastern corner of Arizona Territory, played host to a remarkable range of Old West personalities, from Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday to Buckskin Frank Leslie and the prospector Edward Lawrence Schieffelin. While the town went through ups and downs and was nearly wiped from the map on more than one occasion, it has earned its nickname: the Town Too Tough to Die.

Boothill Graveyard - Tombstone, Arizona
Tombstone, Arizona's Boothill Graveyard is the burial site of Billy Clanton, Frank McLaury, Tom McLaury and Old Man Clanton (Billy's father). Ike and Billy Clanton and the McLaury's participated in one of the most famous gunfights of the American southwest behind the O.K. Corral over 130 years ago on October 26, 1881. Billy and the McLaury brothers were killed during the gunfight with Tombstone, Arizona Territory Marshall Virgil Earp, his brothers Morgan Earp and Wyatt Earp, and Doc Holliday. Boothhill Graveyard is the resting place of Tombstone's famous and infamous. A few died from natural causes.
